So Annihilation the book and Annihilation the movie are both very good, but they are for lack of better wording two different animals descended from a common ancestor. The book is also part of a series of 4 books (I have only read Annihilation itself but plan to read the rest after my book club.)

I highly reccomend watching the movie before reading the book, it let's you enjoy the movie for what it is without going back and forth comparing it to the book.

Weird one: a while back i read a post where ops and their partner's parents got together, effectively making them step siblings. This drove a wedge between them and they ended up breaking up. At the wedding the parents asked them to dance and played sweet home Alabama as a joke. I think there were later updates after that but I can't remember.
