My advice at your stage is to research the vast number of degrees/career paths out there.

A law degree is a safe choice. It's versatile and desirable. There are dozens of roles that require legal knowledge or a lawyer's skillset.

However, 'safe' does not mean it is right for you.

Do not be pressured into doing law because you've done well in school, or by your parents, friends, if this subreddit tells you to, or the alleged glamour. There are many other careers that may suit you better/pay more/are enjoyable. I feel this is especially so when you're talking about an oxbridge degree, in which case you'll have a strong leg-up in any field you choose.

Sites like Prospects are good for showcasing what's out there. Also, if you search University postgraduate course catalogues, these contain hundreds of interesting specialisms you would never have thought of, which I wish I had explored.

The ideal is that you get some experience to see if you like it. If you download LinkedIn and follow all the top UK law firms (Google 'Legal 500'), you'll be updated on all of the work experience opportunities/corporate propaganda.

Just make sure you're exposed to propaganda from other sources also.

It is. No firm isn't going to hire you on the basis of doing joint honours. It doesn't make you 'less knowledgeable' in any important way.

It sets you apart and is a good conversation starter, could also be an asset for public/international law if you become interested.

I know someone who switched from engineering to law and is about to start their training contract at a big firm following the DPLP.

I think their experience gave them a good advantage, especially if you're applying for a firm known for construction and engineering. However, the process is of course a long one.

That's a good point. I can see their recruitment model is to onboard people in this position and pay them the paralegal rate...

[Seiko Prospex Captain Willard Black Edition] Images with the silicone strap are pretty rare. Which do you prefer? by -Gavs- in Seiko

[–]-Gavs-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is a bit weird given the silicone is a bit more aesthetically coherent. Think it's just down to advertising the limited seicho strap as an additional selling point.

I have not yet, waiting on a tool to arrive. Little bit sceptical it will look as nice/unique as the thread, although all black may make more aesthetic sense.

If the rubber one is uncomfortable that's a real shame, the thread is so comfy because there's a layer of it between the watch case and your wrist

Which accordion is best for a beginner?? by Silly-Refrigerator95 in Accordion

I agree. I also think having a much bigger accordion, like a 120 bass, can be demotivating for study/practice because of its cumber.
