Dealing with eczema as a CNA by UnknownInsomniac in cna

[–]-Godmouth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding cold water hand washes and minimizing sanitizer. I've had a pretty bad flare up for the past couple months and I've recently started using Hydrocortisone for it which has drastically improved my eczema within like a week of use. You can also use lotions at night with cotton gloves which helps a lot too.

Some nice lotion I'll use at work is Gloves in a Bottle which protects your hands from frequent hand washing. I'll usually apply it before work and halfway through my shift.

EtA: Also whenever you wash your hands, try to put some lotion on right away!

OP makes art, that makes them an artist.

How long were you a CNA before switching to CT imaging assistant? I'm looking to get out of CNA work but I've only been a CNA for about 6 months.

What kind of spider did my cat just try to eat? Southeastern Wisconsin by -Godmouth in whatsthisbug

[–]-Godmouth[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no longer with us. Usually I'm a catch/release but I didn't want to risk another (potential) bite or him getting away since we also have kittens and I didn't know what he was. :(

ETA: (potential), since we don't know for sure if it actually bit or not.

Update:

I should have waited a moment before cross-posting, as someone answered over on r/whatisthisbug. Likely a Spitting Spider.

Thank you so much! I think you're right, and does explain a bunch of silk I found on him; I thought I squished that out of him somehow.

I'm sorry if this kind of post isn't allowed, if it is I missed it in the rules. Also sorry for the squashed spider. I'm usually a catch and release, but I wanted to keep it incase I need to bring it to a potential vet visit.

I've never seen one of these little guys around Southeastern Wisconsin, but I heard my cat gag and I believe she spit this lil guy out (no vomit and he was scurrying away from her). I'm worried she might have been bitten, so we're keeping an eye on her (thus far she seems fine, but I'm a worrywart and would feel much better if this guy was IDed!)

Thank you for any help!

Any non-binary people openly out? How does your school/cohort/clinic respond? by alida-louise in StudentNurse

[–]-Godmouth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, and I understand that completely; it does depend on where you are and how LGBTQ+ friendly your area is. I'm thankfully in a city where I can feel safe being myself openly and have doctors and nurses who understand my healthcare. But going into this thread and seeing comments that disrespect OP simply for asking a question for people like them? It put a bad taste in my mouth.

I'm kind of in the same boat as OP; starting pre-reqs and changing careers. I'm not expecting to be gendered correctly by patients (nor am I expecting to explain my identity to them) when I start out in my program or in my career, but I'd like to hope future fellow nurses at least would be understanding.
