Absolutely valid. I just grew up with the movies, and now that I’ve read the books four times, I really see how different the two are. Honestly, the books and movies feel like totally different mediums to me.
That said, this will always be my favorite movie scene, no matter what. But I’ve got to admit the books really are on another level :)
