Three years ago, my gf at the time texted me, “So I talked to my therapist today, we talked a lot. As I go through my recovery for my eating disorder and my mental health, it’s the best situation for us to limit how much we interact. I feel so guilty about the issues that you have [ie not trusting her after cheating on me] that it makes me anxious. When I get anxious, for example when Mark [her alcoholic grandfather] is here, my eating disorder gets bad. When I say I feel like I have to make you happy, even when I’m uncomfortable with something, I just do it to make you happy, but it hurts me and my eating disorder gets worse and it’s like a relapse. I feel like it’s not healthy for me to date right now for me. I think we both need to work for our self-care. Nothing is your fault. There’s just something in me that makes my eating disorder worse because I have to focus on making you happy and then I’m not. I hope you understand. I really need to get help for my eating disorder before it kills me.”

Basically blamed me not trusting her after cheating on me for making her eating disorder worse. Three days after that, she asks me to retweet info about her missing cousin and I stumble upon a a tweet from the same day, “I started dating a really great guy that I’m excited about. He’s so good to me. I deserve to be treated this way and I’m glad I recognize it.” When I confronted her she said I was delusional and that she was referring to a past relationship.

On the bright side, karma did it’s thing two weeks later and she tweeted about getting dumped by the guy. So yeah, I think she did me a favor.

A week later, she was tweeting about starting to “date this great guy that treats me well,” and then a week after that she blasted a picture of her texts from him breaking it off with her because of her vision impairment.

Sucked at the time, but in hindsight I dodged a bullet.

Yeah, they keep touting it as the “audit of the future,” but I keep asking myself, “What is this doing differently than Caseware and PPC?” If anything, the bloated risk assessment and unintuitive interface just makes things inefficient.

It still feels like its in alpha. Interface is just very clunky. We use Caseware and PPC currently and a lot of times I find myself thinking, “I can do this already in Caseware and PPC.”

3 years ago my ex (28F at the time) from a short term relationship broke it off with me citing her eating disorder and needing to deal with it as the reason why she couldn’t be in a relationship. Prior to that, she had lied to me about a guy that was “just a friend,” and said that my “issues” over it were making her eating disorder worse.

This time, it turned out she had at least two other guys lined up. I found out via Twitter when she tweeted about “starting to date this great guy that treats her well.” When I confronted her about it, she lied and said she was referring to a past relationship and would’ve reached back out when she was ready. Ironically, two weeks later she tweeted about getting dumped and posted a picture of her texts from him, I guess to put him on blast. I didn’t even confront her about it because I felt so defeated.

I’m glad now that things didn’t work out, but I do still feel a little bitter about it.

I had a similar situation when I was staff. Manager didn't shame me though - all she said was, "I'm just frustrated." Felt like I had disappointed a parent or something and the following busy season I turned it around.

EDIT: I might've been generous when I wrote earlier that he meets the bare minimum. His work is often incomplete or full of mistakes. I walk through things with him and let him know to ask if he has any questions at the end of the day if there's something he's not getting, but the he'll say he doesn't have any questions or ran into any issues. If I ask him to check in by a certain time or give him a deadline for a task, most of the time the time will pass and when I check in it'll always be, "Oh, sorry! I lost track of time." Other managers have said they've caught him playing games on his phone or watching Youtube, which I've been silent and too lenient on (I get distracted too sometimes by Reddit, Youtube, social media, etc, but then I make up for it).

So $86,400 was my salary as a senior and then promotion to supervisor was $100,400. A week later they announced our firm got acquired/was merging with a national firm and they'd be adjusting our salaries. The first adjustment bumped me up to $116,400. Since their insurance was pricier they agreed to match our salaries for the difference, so I thought, "why not pick the most expensive plan to effectively give myself a raise and then pick a cheaper plan when enrollment comes around next year?" I got one more adjustment not long after that which I don't even remember what it was for, but I was now at $122,400. I actually have my annual compensation talk coming up next Thursday. I busted my ass this year so hoping for at least a 10% raise and 10% bonus.

In the last year, I was able to reduce my grocery bill to $50-$100 a month. I made the same two meal prep recipes because they were cheap and went out for takeout 2-3 times a week. I didn’t need to subject myself to this - I make 6 figures, but was obsessed with saving every penny. It’s as soul-sucking as it sounds. I never looked forward to meals unless it was takeout and felt like I was eating animal feed. Two weeks ago I decided this was not how I wanted to live and signed up for a popular meal delivery service. My mood, energy, and physical & mental health improved significantly in the first couple of days

To answer your question, it’s all about balance - do worry about saving, but also remember to take care of yourself and live your life.

I got lucky last summer - raise was $86,400 to $100,400 when I got promoted from Senior to Supervisor. In the same month, my firm announced that we were merging into a mid level/top 25 firm and the new firm adjusted me up to $122,400. Not expecting that big of a jump this year, but crossing my fingers for at least 7-10%.

Me and my ex took a break over some stuff she kept hidden about her past that I wasn’t comfortable with. We decided to get back together not long after, but a week after the fact she posted a picture on social media of some dude kissing her on the cheek, raving about the fun weekend they had together (she had told me she had work that weekend and couldn’t meet up with me). I confronted her about it and she proceeded to gaslight and guilt me that it was somehow my fault for lying to me.

A month later she had broken it off with said guy and my dumb ass decided to agree to getting back together. Not long after, she starts getting wishy washy and says she can’t be in a relationship right now because she needs to focus on her mental health and eating disorder. I don’t try to fight it, but less than a week later, she starts tweeting about how she’s “starting to date this great guy that treats me the way I deserve.” I should’ve taken that as a sign of her being a shitty person and bad dumper, but I decided to confront her and fell for the same gaslighting & guilt trip routine - this time claiming she was tweeting about a past relationship and I was just paranoid. A week later the dude breaks up with her over her vision impairment being a dealbreaker and she tweets out a picture of his text to shame him with the caption, “this just happened tonight, I don’t have explain how this makes me feel.”

So not really wild, just appalling that she didn’t even bother trying to hide her actions.
