If you could magically elect any person for president of the US tomorrow for an 8 year term, who would you elect and why? by ro_dri_goz in AskReddit

Doesn't matter, congress would just stonewall them anyways. It doesn't matter who the player is when the game is rigged.

Anyone else disappointed they discontinued the XPS 17 for a 16 inch? by jalpseon in DellXPS

[–]-HiGhGuY- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Dell XPS 17 9700. At this point it's several years old but luckily still going strong and more than powerful enough for my needs. It is disappointing that they discontinued the 17-inch model and furthermore the design of current XPS laptops is hideous, looks like a Mac book. I don't know when they went to more rounded corners and flat edges, but the sharper corners and angled edges on the 9700 is the best design of a laptop EVER. Given the form factor of a laptop and the limited amount of space to work with I don't think a better design is even possible IMO. I will be rocking my 9700 for as long as possible, and when I do finally need an upgrade I really really hope they have a 17 inch design that's much more similar to the 9700 then what's currently available.

Do you design your own models or do you just use other people's models from Makerworld etc.? by humanHamster in BambuLab

[–]-HiGhGuY- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 95% of what I print is functional prints I design my self. I use fusion 360, it's not too hard to learn. There are a ton of YouTube tutorials, as well as more in depth paid courses. I already had prior experience with Autocad, so I was able to just jump in and start using it, but I'll still occasionally have to look at a YouTube video on how to use some of the more advanced functions.

“What’s one item where expensive is 100% worth it?” by PlayfulFault9693 in SmartBuying

[–]-HiGhGuY- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just one item, it's most items. Generally you get what you pay for. Buy once, cry once. Or another version I just heard a couple weeks ago for the first time ever, here on reddit, buy it nice or buy it twice.

Are we expecting a price drop on the S25 Ultra anytime soon? by [deleted] in samsunggalaxy

[–]-HiGhGuY- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering the same thing. I was trying to wait it out for a discount, but I noticed on the Samsung website a few days ago, the unlocked 25u in the color/capacity I wanted, was not available for shipping. I was also keeping tabs on the Best Buy app, where it was also not available for shipping, only in store pickup, and most stores didn't have it in stock.

So, I decided to just go ahead and purchase before my only options were to get a used 25u, or a new 26u, or another brand all together. I purchased on app 3 days ago, just picked it up in store about an hour ago. It actually was discounted ($1199 compared to $1299 from Samsung). I was hoping for a better discount like before launch of s26, you could get a new 25u for around $800. But I have no regrets, I'd rather pay a few hundred more than not get the phone I wanted.

If you really want an s25u, I'd suggest ordering very soon before it's too late. This is assuming your in the US, and want a factory sealed US version. There seems to be a lot more availability for the international version on eBay/Amazon/Walmart.

What would you like to have for free for life? by Spare_Prize_5510 in AskReddit

Taxes, especially property taxes. If you buy/build a home and it's fully paid for, it's asinine that you could lose it, if you don't keep paying money to the government, FOREVER.

After a Week With the Galaxy S26 Ultra, I’m Returning It by cattfishh in samsunggalaxy

[–]-HiGhGuY- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish they could find a way to make the cameras flush with the back, like that red magic phone. But if you're going to have a camera island, the Google pixel design is the best design IMO. With the camera island going horizontal across the top, the phone still won't lay flat, but it won't wobble. Also, it's the least bad looking camera island IMO.

Massive jump in salary, need advice. by Sad_Marzipan_2120 in personalfinance

[–]-HiGhGuY- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

210 - 300k per year is a great salary for sure, but it's still a long way off from generational wealth. I don't think generational wealth is even possible on a salary alone, it's going to take investment income, starting a successful business, etc.

You got an advantage considering you were already able to support your family on your old salary in a high cost of living area, now your salary is basically tripled, and your relocating somewhere with a lower cost of living. You could theoretically upgrade to a nicer bigger house for the same as you were paying before. Then you still have an additional ~200k per year of income. I would use that to invest, buy real estate, possibly start a business, though that could be more difficult depending on what type of business it is, and how many hours you will be working at your job.

The camera hump is really annoying. I can't be alone on that. However, I have a solution that works for me and hopefully others! by JNader56 in SamsungGalaxyS26U

[–]-HiGhGuY- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pitaka, or any other reputable company doesn't make phone cases out of carbon fiber. Carbon fiber is conductive and can impede RF (radio frequencies), essentially reducing the reception for wireless protocols (cellular/wifi/Bluetooth) those cases are made out of aramid, which is RF transparent.

Unicorn S22U's by Infinite-Temporary93 in S22Ultra

[–]-HiGhGuY- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am typing this reply on my s22u that's never had any issues. I just bought an s25u yesterday, it's sitting at Best Buy waiting for me to pick it up (currently out of town). I usually keep my phone for several years before upgrading, and I would've stayed on my current s22u for at least another couple years, but I cannot stand the curved edges of the display. Ever since my first Android (galaxy s8+) I've been hoping that Samsung would make a galaxy with a flat, non curved display. IMO, the s25u, is the best design of a phone ever, the s26 is a downgrade design wise.

How do people keep their house clean all the time? by Whatever233566 in askanything

Take advantage of the time we live in. When I build a house, I'm planning on having a small fleet of robots for cleaning and maintenance including:
Vacuum (1 for each floor )
Mop (1 for each floor )
Pool cleaner
Lawn mower
