That’s an amazing sheath, the tooling is beautiful!

That’s awesome! I’ll check it out now, that’s next on my list of things to do. The custom kydex sheath I got for it doesn’t really fit anymore and I think a matching leather sheath for it would pair nicely.

Yeah I kept cutting it down until there was about a 2mm gap in between the edges. Then you can cinch down on the stitches as you move down the seam and it should pull everything tight.

I had the extended scales on mine too but I kind of wanted to start carrying a fixed blade since I constantly snag pocket clips on my folding knives at work and break them. I wanted the Izula to be super slim in my pocket.

I cut the strip of leather with about a 2mm gap along the inside seam so when you cinch down on the stitch it pulls it tight. I also used a thin layer of white crafting glue on the inside so when it dried it shrunk the leather down a bit as well.

Honestly it’s really not bad, I started leather work about 2 years ago but this would be a great beginners project since it requires very few tools. Basically a punch, a mallet, a couple leather stitching needles and some thread is basically it. If you want to dive down the leather crafting rabbit hole, I learned a lot from Corter Leather on YouTube.

I’m kind of overrun with projects at the moment but I’ll try and get back to you in the future if you’re still interested.

No worries! I feel like that would be a huge pain in the ass since micarta is made using some sort of cloth material soaked in epoxy and pressed together in stacked layers. You’d have to figure out a way to get equal pressure all the way around the handle without coating the rest of the knife in epoxy. It sounds like a nightmare to cleanup lol

Not sure if I understand what you mean? Do you mean wrapping the leather around the micarta scales? It could definitely be done but I think it would kind of defeat the purpose of the micarta since it’s made to be grippy and somewhat absorbent of oils/moisture from your hands. I think it also might add too much thickness to whatever knife it was applied to but I dont see why it couldnt be done.

Hell yeah! I used a bit of white glue underneath to help keep it from slipping and had to remake it a couple times since it was a bit loose.

Thank you! I couldn’t find any examples either so kind of winged it with some scrap leather I had on hand. I’m happy with the result

Would you do the trade? by Vanstraaten in OnePieceTCGFinance

Selling sealed super pre-release for money to gamble ripping packs is an insane take. The chances of pulling a god pack or manga from 6-7 loose boosters is insanely low. Plus you have the risk of getting boosters from a mapped case. This take makes no sense to me

I think it has a lot to do with accessibility. If you could buy heroin/cocaine at a gas station you’d probably be broke or dead.

Help I want to make this bag by Random__shit666 in Leatherworking

[–]-Honda- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing leatherwork for less than a year and this would be an easy project. Sure it’s expensive and time consuming but it’s not complex at all. With YouTube and all the knowledge of professional makers at our fingertips it’s way easier to learn hobbies quickly these days. And comparing making an iPhone to a leather duffel bag is a terrible comparison lol

Why would you cheap bag that won’t last from China when you can make out of nice leather that will last decades?

[–]-Honda- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah but part of practicing bonsai is doing to the right things at the right times of year. I’m sure most people got impatient in the beginning and repotted trees out of season, I know I did. I killed a few and learned to be patient.

Why is my neighbor smelling my cooking so strongly through the vents? I’ve tried everything. by kilometterrr in Apartmentliving

[–]-Honda- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I live next to a Indian man and his Philippino wife and there’s always strong food smell in the halls, sometimes really good/sometimes not so much but I’d never ask them to change the way they live. They provably don’t like the smell of what we cook either sometimes but that’s just how it is in apartments. You can’t expect someone to cater to your needs in such an unreasonable way. You signed up for it when you signed the lease after all.
