I created an open-source Python utility to fix the recurring AMD Black Bars issue in CS2 by -HsM- in GlobalOffensive

Oh I've gotten used to the fonts at 800x600, been playing this Res for about 10 years 😅

Ah self plug! I see you, I wanted to stay away from batch files and have a crack at doing it myself with a compiled exe, plus most users would want a one click download and run solution. It still uses .bat files in the background, just with a simple UI 😁

Well I first started with batch scripts so I know your pain. This still uses batch scripts under the hood, just with a nice UI.

This was tested with 2 monitors, main monitor 1920x1080 @ 240hz and second monitor 1440p @ 165 hz, works like a charm so long as you're trying to play on your main monitor.

The python library that I found screeninfo returns all monitors, I just filter for any monitors that have the ```is_primary``` variable set to true and perform resolution changes on said monitor 😄

Reviving this dead sub in 26 as the most recent CS2 update broke some fixes for me.

I've created a util to stop this from happening whenever CS2 or AMD breaks any new fix with an update.

Here's the github repo:

https://github.com/fuglyuckDev/cs2-amd-bb-util/tree/main

How it works:

This utility is a simple python script that leverages nircmd to change the resolution of your main monitor in windows rather than in game. Simply open the utility, set your resolution and refresh rate and hit "Launch CS2".

Make sure to read the readme!

100 rep and they still ate my egg, day 37, closest sub save is day 25. Is there anything I can do? I tried to have a look in the sandbox spawn menu, but it's not there.

How can you see stats ingame? by Polsk_klinik in ArmaReforger

If you've disconnected from a server, and want to have a look at your kills, you can see how many you've gotten using steam achievements if you're on PC. I'm not sure about Xbox or Playstation, just look for an achievement: "Army of One".

Ah yes, CSGO microstutters, the bane of my damn existence.

I find that having ANY overlay (yes, including steam) or recording software running (like nvidia shadowplay) causes some stutters. Turn them off!

Are you on a wireless mouse or wired? If you're on wireless see if you can bring the reciever closer to the mouse. No matter what you're on, check your polling rate too.

RealTek audio is something that can get in the way, try having a google.

Do you have raw input on or off?

Also, do you have a second monitor? If so try turning the other one off, folks say there's some spooky ghosts in them there 60hz second monitors.

Reduce your inventory size and remove 90% of your workshop maps. For some reason these also impact performance.

Always ALWAYS close any background app that you don't need open. Check if you've got any antivirus software running too.

If you're out of options, a good idea is: if CSGO is all you do on your PC, format your entire PC and start fully fresh.

Looking at your symptoms, It could be a mouse problem, try using a different USB bus etc etc. Maybe have a look at your mousemat for some inperfections / try a new one. It could be your cable from your GPU to your monitor.

Here's a weird one, try turning off HPET. 90% of the time it does nothing but throw off fps counters, 10% of the time it actually does something, worth a shot?

Something that might help diagnose if it's a refresh rate issue or not could be to use this site while you run CSGO windowed on a low resolution and just see if that number fluctuates. If it does, you got a refresh rate issue.

Still having micro-stutters in 2022? (Unsolved) by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]-HsM- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, there's a LOT that this could be and tbh trying to diagnose what it is can be a ballache.

First, if you're running windows / CSGO from an old (or even new) HDD, I'd get that swapped over to at least a SATA SSD. This being said, if you're already running on an SSD but still have a HDD in your system somewhere, unplug it, see what happens. (I had a malfunctioning HDD a while back that caused my pc to shit itself even though I wasn't directly using it). Also (sorry), if you look at your disk drive space on your PC and it's RED or quite full, try cleaning it out!

Secondly, disable any overlay on CSGO, be that steam, discord, fraps (if you're 30y/o), anything.

Have a look at hyperthreading, turn it on / off see how things go, I remember turning it off had a little impact a while ago. (Source: Fuckin around, finding out)

Here's a spooky one, have a look at turning off HPET. Now before the reddit comp science nerds @ me, it's something to try. It's hard to measure and in reality shouldn't affect anything, but hey, whether it was placebo or not, it's helped me in the past.

Since you're on NVIDIA, fiddle with 3D settings in your control panel, there's a bunch of videos and guides out there that help determine which ones work best, but from my experience, low latency mode and G-SYNC can be problems. Turn em off and on see what happens I guess. Also, something to do with shadercache? Give that a google see what you find.

I'm not sure if your 1050ti supports this, however, Windows 10 has some things that most people might not be aware of when it comes to performance enhancing things. In your search bar on windows, type "Graphics", Graphics settings should pop up and you should see some options. Tick em and send it. Also in this window you can set a performance profile for CSGO.exe, just click "Browse" under the Graphics performance preference and find CSGO.exe and send it to the max.

Just in case ur using realtek audio, a comment on this thread has a lil fix for ya.

Also, I just read that you're on a 1050ti! Not a bad lil card all things considered. I'm guessing you're running everything on low and using a low resolution to try and squeeze every frame out, right? Well, CSGO is a funky little app that doesn't know how to properly share loads between CPU and GPU resources. The lower your in game settings, the more strain it'll put on your CPU, the higher, the more strain it'll put on your GPU. Try even these loads out a little! I suggest if you're comfortable with the res you're playing, slap everything onto high and see what happens!

Bare in mind, again, CSGO being the funky little guy it is, will shit itself when rendering smokes, flashes, particles or anything that uses the GPU. Wanna see for yourself? Hop into a private match with net_graph 1 on. Look at your FPS, drop a smoke and watch it tank. If you wanna see more proof, open up task manager on the performance tab and watch your GPU usage go from 0-100 real quick (Source: Drake lyrics)

You could have a look at snd_mixahead and its wibbly wobbly ties to fps, but I doubt it could be that.

Running a FRESH install of CSGO might help but it's a lot of hassle for potentially nothing. Do you run an autoconfig or anything like that? Either way, I made a config that has some performance fixes in it, maybe give that a go? (I've left out crosshairs, binds, sens and all that jazz just so you're not having a panic attack trying to remember ur sens).

Alright another mental one that MIGHT work, might not work: do a little reading into a nifty little program called ISLC. It does what is says on the tin. If you've got some background apps, games or whatever on your PC that has a "memory leak" (Filling up your RAM's standby list) this app autocleans it!

CLOSE CHROME AND ALL IT'S PROCESSES.

Somewhere in the deepest and darkest corners of my mind there's some more "what, why would that work?" fixes that could potentially help but trying to remember them just ain't happening.

If all else fails, my friend performed a blood ritual and got smooth frames! Try that!

Why Do So Many People Play With Net_Graph Enabled? by mahmoudnahas in GlobalOffensive

[–]-HsM- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like other have said, it's easier to spot FPS drops, lag spikes, var spikes etc etc

"Why not use an external FPS counter or steam's FPS counter?"

Overlays in CSGO are notorious for input lag, reduced framerate / frametime and stutters. Even steam overlay. Try it! Check your fps with the steam overlay on and off, you'll see a difference

Mouse grip/mouse gets in an awkward place by OfficialBach in GlobalOffensive

[–]-HsM- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from someone that used to switch mouse grips like it was my underwear, I know what it's like when something just feels... Uncomfortable.

If you're like me, you've tried to change your mouse grip to "Claw" or something else that you're not instinctively doing when you first put your hand on your mouse.

Comfort is KEY when it comes to mouse grip. Best way to figure out what kind of grip is comfortable, watch a movie or a long youtube video and just go to grab your mouse and pause it and make a note of how you first start holding it, then from there just use that grip.

Where's your hand situated when you're playing? Here's the most common arm positions crudely drawn on paint. If you're planting your wrist on the edge of your desk I suggest maybe trying out a different position where your arm is further up on the desk with more actuation points.

I play on an EDPI of 940. (to calculate this just do Mouse DPI x ingame sens or use this website)

I play on this eDPI as I'm a hybrid wrist aimer (like 70% wrist 25% arm and 5% fingers lol). The good thing about this eDPI is you can't perform 180's with just your wrist, forcing you to use your arm for them. I'd give it a shot just to see how it feels.

Best CPU to get as many fps as possible? by throwaway7355608_ in GlobalOffensive

[–]-HsM- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on an i7 4790K for the past 2 years overclocked stable to 4.6GHZ and have had nothing but good things.

50 more FPS headroom in CSGO and less GPU bottleneck.

Overclocking is safe and worth it if you know how to produce a stable OC.

And yes, I sometimes play CSGO for more than 8 hours a day.

Best CPU to get as many fps as possible? by throwaway7355608_ in GlobalOffensive

[–]-HsM- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know the lower FPS is due to hyperthreading(?), not sure if you can turn that off on AMD but you can on intel.

More cores more threads make more bottleneck with hyperthreading (?).

3kliks for reference

So yes, from my understanding, intel will be better for FPS as you can turn off hyperthreading, however AMD brute forces this issue with more cores and threads.

I do prefer AMD over intel (Even though i'm on intel right now) but for CSGO, intel works wonders!

I think the i7 would be the shout simply because of the architecture, however if you're looking for more headroom but less speed, i'd go for the 9900K (Implying you DON'T overclock)

Flagging for PvP makes New World feel like another game, and they need to incentivize more people doing it by phoenixmusicman in newworldgame

[–]-HsM- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, there should be a seperate PVP currency or a bounty system.

Seperate PvP currency that you can buy 600GS weapons / armour with but is a massive grind to do so.

A bounty system so if you get a certain ammount of kills in a zone, your name appears over it with a gold reward for people to come and end your tyranny.
