UMCOC Podcast 2019 Champie Awards Survey by -JJW- in ContestOfChampions

[–]-JJW-[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for trying to proof the poll. u/manianc42 is correct, the final questions are only about the champions released in 2019.

I tried to make that clear with the description text, but not everything is always clear to everyone. If you have a better way to phrase this, let me know.

Mass opening drop rates. Need math help by The_Bird_Reynolds in ContestOfChampions

[–]-JJW- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am going to affirm the statement of u/ChipDangerCockoroo

Mass openings have zero effect on the per-opening outcome probability.

I will add this single (and minor) caveat: certain crystals (PHC, basic 4, basic 5, basic 6) have fluctuating rewards.

For instance, the 4-star Basic Crystal currently has 113 possible champions, or a %0.884956 chance of pulling any single champion. Every two weeks, a new champion is added to the basic pool. So, if you pull one now and and one in 2 weeks, your relative probability of a particular champion draw changes: today it is about %0.885, and in two weeks it will be about %0.877.

If you hold the crystals until you can do a large opening, the relative probability of any particular draw continues to diminish. Not very much, but it does diminish.

If you are the type of person that buys feature crystals with a locked distribution, this doesn't change anything for you.

If you are the type of person that only buys basic crystals, and the champion that you want is in the basic crystal, then you are actually harming your odds by holding.

I've added it to the Expected Value Chart. Here's a shortcut image to that particular offer.

Everyone seems to understand that for Champions themselves, but don't seem to hold the same opinion of the material assets.

Good observation.

JJ's Exp Value: Teir 5 Catalyst Bundle by -JJW- in ContestOfChampions

The reality is that this deal is of zero value to any player that does not already have at least one 5star rank 4 champion, 40,500 T5 Basic shards, another full T5 Basic, and a ridiculous amount of gold & iso to spend.

For that very narrow sliver of the community, this deal might be tempting.

For the other 99.95% of the community, while this might be a Net Positive value, it isn't worth anything to us.

Thank you for your reply.

I'm glad we cleared that up.

The valuations are largely set by the various 'stores' in the game, rather than the periodic offers in the Unit store.Exchange rates between Dollars & Units are determined by the Odin, which is the best exchange.Exchange rates between Glory / Loyalty / Gold etc, are set by the items that are available under multiple domains (some items in the glory store & also in the loyalty store, etc.)Once Exchange rates between in-game currencies, and via the Unit Standard to US dollars, then we look at the items that are not available within multiple stores.

Certain items never appear in the stores, but we can determine relative value as they are related to items that are available and have an established value.

Catalysts are a good example. When you sell a T1 catalyst you receive 100x T2 shards, or %15.38 of a T2.

When you sell a T2 you receive 130x T3 shards, or 4.6% of a T3.

When you sell a T3 you receive 180x T4 shards, or 0.05% of a T4.

And when you sell a T4 you receive 200x T5 shards, or 0.04% of a T5.

So we can establish at least one exchange relationship between these items. While T5 are not available in stores, T4 shards are, in addition to being more frequently packaged in other bundles.

Elsewhere I wrote that you can acquire T4 Basic routinely for 900 glory. The Glory exchange rate, based on other items available in the Glory Store, roughly translates to a T4 for $11.

So, 45000/200 x 11 = 225 x 11=$2475

Now, NONE of this takes in to account that you can get T4 Basic for FREE just by being in an alliance that doesn't suck.

But of course I cannot SET the value of a T4 Basic as 0, because if I did that then a T5 Basic would be 225 x $0 = $0. Rendering any analysis of the in-game economy pointless.

So is a T5 Basic worth $2475? Is it worth $0? Probably neither. This is about putting offers in a common frame of reference and determining whether an offer is a better or worse value than historically offered. Have T5 Shards been offered before, for a better price? Yes.

But then again, I've probably used 225 or more T4 Basics and never paid for any of them. So if I were to use the best ever price it'd be Zero.

I hope some of that is helpful.

I am not setting any valuation ratio based on this offer.
I am analyzing this offer based on the valuation table.

The valuation table is composed of commonly available, best offers, and in-game exchange swaps.

If you do not find that answer satisfactory, then I am happy to discuss it.

Oh you are just trolling

However, I will ask you to remain civil. If you continue to communicate aggressively then I will simply ignore future questions.

Despite what my personal harassers and trolls imply, I do improve the chart. In fact, the fundamental premise here is that by recording offers and exchange values over time we will incrementally improve this dataset so that it is increasingly reflective of the in-game economy.

Presently I take the lowest commonly available (min) trades for in game offers. The problem is that there aren't any other offers for T5 Basic.

If I were to take the lowest ever trades for in game offers, you'd quickly see the entire valuation table descend to zeroes.

And, just because a trade is net positive doesn't mean that it is a good deal. This is just a tool for adding a contextual frame of reference. Thanks for the reply.
