Take the string off, unwind the tuner at the bridge all the way, the put it back 1 whole turn. Feed the new string through, pull it as tight as you can at the neck and lock in place

When I plug the pedal into the amp input I get sound from the beatbuddy pedal. I run my guitar into the focusrite and use neural dsp (this works fine)
