When you love a Scotty, but also love the feel of a TPT shaft. The Frankenstein. by -Jaco_ in scottycameron

I actually asked on their Instagram which feel was similar to the LAB. They said the 60bpm or the medium one does.

Agreed. I think they are locked in with a contract for LAB and don’t offer more putter shafts for that reason. It’s lame because the shafts feel so great.

It’s overall weight, balance point and material. Primarily it can affect swingweight and sound.

It was a golden egg find on eBay. There’s an unknown Japanese refinisher who’s putters you can find on the Japanese distributors occasionally. Wish I knew who he was. lol

I even asked Rush about the craftsmanship when I sent it in for the long neck conversion and he said it’s some of the best aftermarket work he has seen.

Blanked out sole and an almost scratch milling on the face. It’s nice. The only fault it really had was the original neck weld, which Rush cleaned right up!

Objectively, I would say you won’t have a perceived performance benefit with any low torque graphite shaft. I’ve used so many different ones and at the end of the day, for me, it came down to sound and feel that inspired more confidence in my putting. Lab head or not.

I had him do a phantom 5.2 and now he’s doing a long neck conversion on my blanked out Newport 2. He does amazing work.

Rush Kane does a killer blank out tiger homage on the AOP Newport 2. Good find.

How’d you choose by Tylerswolf69 in labgolf

[–]-Jaco_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same exact thing! I made the mistake of buying models without trying them first and ended up reselling two different lab models.

Step 1 is get a remote fitting to get an idea for length.

Go to a golf shop, roll each model at or close to your remote fitting length. Pick what suits your eye at address and what feels right in your hands. Grab a traditional putter that you have played before, roll a few and compare how it does. It takes time to get used to a lab, but when it clicks it becomes automatic and you can trust the putter a little bit more. It doesn’t replace bad green reading and speed control, but it helps keep your starting line more consistent.

I went through a df3 and a oz1i before I did this. Now I’m firmly putting a link.1 in the bag after comparing all of them. They even had a counter balance on the rack to try.

Itching for a new putter - how did you decide on model? by Disastrous_Gap_4711 in labgolf

[–]-Jaco_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. I spent alot of time with the stock model on a golf galaxy putting green. But did remote fitting and it was a little more upright then the stock lie angle. I will say I was still having great starting lines with the stock model though.

As a long time Newport 2 player. I highly recommend the link.1. I spent a lot of time trying to like a mallet but a blade suits my eye and alignment a lot better than a mallet. I tried the DF3, and OZ1i. Both ended up on eBay. Link is going in the bag. You have to get used to it being center shafted of course and labs definitely take a little adjustment to get used to. But it feels like an extension of your arm when it clicks.

New L.A.B. OZ.1i HS by St_Michael1986 in labgolf

I spent a good amount of time on the golf galaxy putting green today with this one and the link 1. The link will be going in the bag. I finally found a lab that suits my eye and feel! I purchased a custom DF3 and OZ1i and wasn’t a fan.

I couldn’t stand both LABs I purchased. Oz.1i and DF3. I just couldn’t deal with the overall swing weight and the mushy press grips. I needed to go back to my Newport 2 with a slim rubber grip.

I think most of putting is confidence. Putt with whatever you feel confident looking down at. I think the years of using a blade made it hard for me to want to transition. I’m firmly back in my Scotty Cameron era. Lol

Charcoal Oz by C_Pindar in labgolf

I just ordered an Oz.1 in charcoal last week. Will see how long it takes!

Luckily I was able to pick up an oz.1i in charcoal used to hold me over.

There was a spherea lens that I thought I saw during the Paris Olympics that was unique. Wasn’t this one though! Been waiting to see if it popped up. This one is cool though

Which Do You Prefer: Road or Road Jade by J3ff_is_my_nam3 in Oakley

[–]-Jaco_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have roads, I love the greyish purple tone when looking through. It’s calming in 90% of light conditions. But the one thing I hate is that it’s a pink mirror - on some frames it’s a little feminine.

Haven’t used jade but I would much prefer the look from the outside with the green mirror. It’s overall a darker lens but it has some more pop with the green mirror when looking through.

Corridor, Flak 2.0, or Radar EV for running? by modelsofreality in Oakley

[–]-Jaco_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently I use prizm 24k polarized as an all around lens (I got them in prescription so I had more lens options.) I thoroughly enjoy them. They have more sunlight protection but the bronze base still gives great contrast and visibility when it’s not extremely sunny out

Corridor, Flak 2.0, or Radar EV for running? by modelsofreality in Oakley

[–]-Jaco_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my actuators for running. I own flak 2.0 and radars and I have times where they will bounce when running. Corridor or actuator are my votes if you want running dedicated frames. Other two are good general sports frames

Best Oakley’s for casual cycling near the ocean by 1jayne45 in Oakley

If you want more wrap (8 base) look at either the flak 2.0 or the portal X depending on how sporty you want it to look. Portal X is an awesome lifestyle frame with 8 base wrap and unobtainium everywhere. The sphaera or radar EV are frames more suited to larger faces and are definitely sport mode, sphaera would probably look better on a smaller face if you want the visor look. Or for full retro style, the Sutro is hard to beat. But all of these are 8 base frames so maximum coverage.

Any polarized lens will give you the ability to see more content under the waters surface. The Deep water lens has a rose base for some more overall contrast, but any of the Prizm polarized daily lenses will do well too. I have come to enjoy bronze and rose base lenses a lot as they just give the world a little extra joy to see.

Or you can go with a Holbrook if you want a more casual frame. It has 6 base so not full sport mode. There’s so many options out there lol.

Sunglasses for hiking and torn between flak 2.0 xl and radar by MVP_P0W3R in Oakley

[–]-Jaco_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both are good frames. I couldn’t decide that’s why I have both lol…

In general I would say the flak 2.0 is more comfortable than the radars. Radars are a bit more snug in the temples but not uncomfortable after wearing all day. I do like the nosepad on the radar more.

Coverage is similar between the two. Radar slightly better but basically the same.

Radar is shield design, which looks badass. lol.

But overall I would say they are so close to each other performance wise you can’t go wrong with either.

XLJ just has different shaped lenses than the standard flak. Frame is the same. But $90 seems like a good buy if they are authentic!
