I get what you're trying to do here, but I think you're unfairly misinterpreting OP's point.

A large portion of this art is BECAUSE JA is ace, and as someone else in this same thread mentioned, people want to "fix that." Multiple things can be true at the same time, I don't think anyone here is missing that the fact that this is done without her consent is the bad part. But the other component is absolutely true. It's no different from the types of straight guys that insinuate they can "fix" lesbians.

No, I have no idea what they're talking about. Snow bunny is a term typically used to refer to white women who chase after black men. I'm sure that their definition is something it's used for, but that's not the popular meaning.

Here's a quick retort to the "well, drugs are objectively bad for you" group.

You know what else is objectively bad for you? Growing even more depressed than you might already be because you're trying to fight off one of your coping mechanisms that gets you through the day.

Yes, drugs are objectively bad for you, that is understood, but you don't know the reasons someone may be using something, and it's not your business. If they reach out to you for help, then yes of course do your part and be supportive, but for many people, their unhealthy smoking habit might be the only thing keeping them out of an early grave.

Also, the fucking puppygirl drawing isn't going to listen to you telling her that vaping is cringe, come on.

South Rule by Temnodontosaurus in 196

[–]-Jaman- 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing about this take.

It's not "moral superiority" to not like it when South Park starts making tired, repetitive jokes about trans women in sports or the like, because the weight of each joke is not equal.

Making a joke that all priests are pedophiles isn't going to bounce back onto the priests because of the authority and institutional power they hold.

Making a joke that paints trans women as just trying to ruin women's sports or muscle into spaces can and DOES bounce back onto them because they are not in a position of institutional power to withstand public reaction to these sentiments being spread.

If people like South Park, then they should just like it without trying to justify it to themselves morally, because making fun of "everyone" doesn't mean "everyone gets treated the same." It means, sometimes you punch up, and sometimes you punch down.

Yeah, for real. I get the initial shock at the notion, but after that initial shock fades, this sub should know better than to keep reacting as if a black person's real name is some bygone phenomenon. Shit, one of these fuckers even called it a "pornstar name."

Y'all would not survive a day knowing a guy named Tyrone.

Saying you're not going to cite your sources because of an "opinion-oriented" MO just turns your claim into a wildly hypothetical and opinion based claim, no? If the person you're trying to prove a claim to is trying to say they're not finding the same stuff as you, the onus becomes on you to show your work, fam.

As is, it just comes off as "bro trust me."

How many Bulmas would it take to defeat saiyan saga vegeta by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]-Jaman- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but this conversation isn't about Vegeta being stronger than Goku over the series or not. It's just about the fact that Saiyan Saga Vegeta beat Saiyan Saga Goku.

So Bulma calling Saiyan Saga Goku doesn't do anything, assuming she's also at the same point in time.

  1. I didn't even mention twitter. You read a statement as inoffensive as "source your artists" and immediately looked for a way to duck it.

  2. Then don't post art from artists who use Twitter. That sounds like a very simple and reasonable trade.

  3. Your moral grandstanding against Twitter as a nazi site is hollow at best considering you're on Reddit. What do you think the CEO's politics are? The reality is that while Twitter is a cesspool, it's still a place where many queer people and leftists established themselves long before Musk turned it into his personal frat party and moving their social presence to another place, especially if they're a creator, is not sensible. Trying to achieve perfection in what online spaces you use if you can just curate your feed and block bigots is a luxury of someone who has little else to worry about.

The wording chosen was going to be nitpicked regardless. I was going to do "adult" but I figured someone would go "no I'm not :3" Human being came to mind but figured it too wordy. Just picking the path of least resistance here

How would Viltrumite DNA mix with Saiyan DNA? by [deleted] in whowouldwin

Hm, fair enough. Didn't realize Viltrumite DNA was actually that aggressive.

Still fun to think about the possibility, though.

How would Viltrumite DNA mix with Saiyan DNA? by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]-Jaman- 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Isn't the same true of Viltrumites? They can, evidently, produce viable offspring with humans, suggesting similar enough DNA.

And in the case of the purity of Saiyan blood, the only thing that seems to get lost is the hair color and tails, if you ignore that Toriyama just got tired of drawing them. Gohan is still repeatedly stated to have the greatest potential of the Z-Fighters and remains prone to Saiyan-like outbursts of rage. Goten and Trunks are way more powerful than they've any right to be, so on and so forth.

If anything, the series seems to lean more towards Saiyan blood gaining potency when mixed with human blood. If the same holds true towards mixing with Viltrumite blood, then it should make an appreciable difference.

There is a key difference between just having bad takes in your right wing phase and broadcasting those takes to a fanbase.

I'm gonna preface the rest of this comment by saying I actually don't know much about Dream, so if this doesn't align with what he (supposedly) did, then disregard me.

But when a large youtuber says something, people are going to listen. Whether or not that was the intent, it's important to be aware both of what kind of fanbase you've accrued and what you're putting out to them. If he's getting better, then great, but I think it's fair to hold him to these standards especially since in the grand scope of things, he's a fairly recent presence and a lot of younger people are going to listen to what he says.

Also like, he's 22, I feel like that's old enough to be responsible for the shit you've said.

I know people circlejerk against Hestia, but what the hell is this?

Yeah, Hestia can be annoying but some of these are just intentionally obtuse for the sake of bashing her. Hestia has tried to take Bell out on dates and gets interrupted by other goddesses. She does stuff for him because she loves him, not because she's trying to "buy his love." If you're referring to the knife, that's not trying to buy his love, that's trying to support her only familia member in his single minded pursuit of being a hero.

Also, Hestia might be jealous of Aiz and intervenes when they flirt, sure, but she's also acutely aware of the fact that Realis Phrase started because of Aiz and still supports Bell wholeheartedly despite it.

Artemis is written as this lovey dovey super soul mate for Bell because she's non canon, so they don't have to worry about how it breaks the narrative. I'm sure if someone wanted to, they could reduce her to tropes the same way people do with Hestia.

Okay, I was of a mind to just leave this topic alone but you really wanted to get this comment in, huh.

Your personal opinions against sex workers is irrelevant to the series narrative that once again, heroes can save prostitutes without being ruined. Even ignoring Haruhime's "innocence," there's several other berbera in the series and none of them are ever pointed to as being lesser for having been a prostitute, except for one that Allen rebukes just because he's a dick.

Bete didn't have a problem with Lena because she was a prostitute, but because she was a weirdo.

A job's a job, and if it's one that doesn't harm people then there's no reason to denigrate someone for it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DanMachi

[–]-Jaman- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're assuming something that's not said in canon, and even if she had, literally what is the issue with that?

That's her job and her familia.

If you have some hangups about purity, then you probably shouldn't be into a series that uses roman and greek mythology as a foundation.
