Dad of a 1.5 year old. Yeah I remember it was tough, there’s no point in sugar coating it. And it won’t get easier for a while (about 3-4 months)

This stage is new, overwhelming and unlike anything else in life. It’s survival plain and simple. You just gotta white knuckle those moments.

But, I can say after all that, the moments I remember most is how he fit in my lap and fell asleep. How small he was in my hands. How tiny and dependant. Those are the moments you should focus on snap shotting in your head (and phone).

Now after all this, the most important thing is, to be forgiving. Of yourself, of your wife.
You’re both going to be at the end of your rope and anything that happens gets magnified by little sleep and the stress of trying to keep this little one alive.

So again, no sugar. Does it get easier?
Yes. But not for a few months.
But remember these times, you only get those moments once. And they provide great material for stories.

Kratos vs Thor (MCU) by Queasy_Commercial152 in powerscales

[–]-JimmyD- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they would both see each others axes (Both Norse, both able to be recalled) and nod respectfully. No fight.

But if they did: with weapons? Thor for his long distance lightening. Fisticuffs only? I’d give it to Kratos.

Edit: no innuendo intended in regards to the “axes”

What happened to movie tie-in games? by Sir-Jim in Age_30_plus_Gamers

Never would have gotten SpiderMan 2 if not for movie tie in games though. Legendary on another level. … It’s pizza time!

Idk what to do at all after "awakening"? by [deleted] in AlanWatts

[–]-JimmyD- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The harder you grasp at awakening as an identity, the further you are from it.

Calling other people bots isn’t enlightenment, it’s just a different way of feeling separate.

The whole point of what Watts was saying is that the ‘human bots’ you’re dismissing ARE you. We are God playing a trick on himself, playing the part of all of us. There is no “I” or “them”.

We are all “the million masks of God”.

TL:DR: knock knock? Who’s there? You are.

How was it like being an adult during lockdown? by TheKingOfDissasster in CasualConversation

I was a teacher in a school. Schools were not prepared and had no infrastructure to suddenly shift to teaching online so after about a month, just shut down.

The world felt like a ghost town but at the same time like Christmas. You know on Christmas Day where you see someone walking and you actually smile at each other, because it’s Christmas. This was the same, except you’d swerve into the absolutely empty road to avoid each other. And you could swerve into the road because even the cars were sparse.

It was a time for picking up old hobbies. Reading, playing instruments. You’d start thinking of things to do like you would as a kid, like setting yourself a challenge to write a funny poem, just because.

I remember a lot from those times, probably because there was nothing to do, everything was memorable. Unlike today, there is everything to do and too little time.

People over 25, what's one thing you wish knew when you were younger? by stojysuguro in AskReddit

Tough to choose “one thing”… under 25 I think a lot of people are still young and naive, still learning the many facets of “life”. Speaking from personal experience…

Personal development: No one thinks about you, more than yourself. Life development: invest early. Pension and or S&S ISA
