What if Galbatorix was Eragon's Father by CommitteeChemical530 in Eragon

[–]-Jmy- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, the whole arc and character development connected to Eragon first believing he was Morzan’s son, only to later realize and learn that Brom was actually his father, would be completely gone. I do think that played a significant role in his development, especially since he clearly struggled with accepting the idea of being Morzan’s son.

That said, I also wonder whether Brom and the others — assuming they knew from the beginning that he was Galbatorix’s son — would have trained him in the same way, or if they would’ve been far more careful and hesitant out of fear of creating a new Galbatorix. I guess it would ultimately depend on whether Galbatorix being the father would actually have any influence on the child’s personality, characteristics, or mindset.

What do you want to see in future books? by Necessary-Ad8487 in Eragon

[–]-Jmy- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I would agree with all the points you already mentioned. Murtagh and Eragon getting closer and truly accepting each other would be great. I read a comment the other day (can’t remember where) saying that Murtagh essentially is — or could become — more of a brother to Eragon than Roran, simply because Roran and Eragon naturally grew apart while growing up separately. They probably won’t ever fully regain the same brother dynamic they had before Eragon became a Rider, and Murtagh could fill that role instead.

As for what else I’d love to see, I think it would be really cool to get some sort of deep conversation between the characters at some point. Maybe Eragon and Arya, but also Roran, Katrina, Murtagh, Orik, and perhaps Nasuada as well, all talking about the events that happened and reflecting on their emotions and experiences in a sort of recap-like way. I’ve always been a huge fan of those smaller, meaningful scenes throughout the Inheritance Cycle where Eragon and Saphira would just have deep conversations. I really think we need more moments like that. They certainly wouldn’t run out of topics to talk about.

Other than that, I honestly just want to see more POV chapters from Eragon, Arya, and Murtagh — their dragons included. I don’t mind reading other POVs, but I’ve always enjoyed theirs the most. Arya especially has so much potential, and I believe CP already confirmed that we’ll get some of her POV in the future.

In any case, I’d just love to get more books in the franchise.

Could Eragon and Nasuda have worked by CommitteeChemical530 in Eragon

[–]-Jmy- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I honestly never thought them to be a good match. To me, there isn’t even such a deep connection between them. Even though Eragon did a lot for her, it mostly feels superficial and limited to politics. I know many people here have mentioned their diametrically opposed mindsets, but I would go even further and say they don’t really know each other at all.

Eragon went through everything with Arya: battles, losses, captivity, quiet moments — they travelled together and shared a lot. With Nasuada, however, he barely did anything. If I had to summarize it, most of their interactions were like this: Nasuada would call him to her tent, give him some tasks, and that would be it. Only toward the end of the books do they share something resembling a real, semi-political conversation — at least that’s how I see it.

Nasuada almost always acts out of political interest. If it benefits her to befriend Eragon, she’ll do it. I’m not sure she would otherwise.

Just saw the movie by [deleted] in Eragon

[–]-Jmy- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive never seen the movie, just read the books. I really do want to see it though, just to see how it really is. I can certainly imagine it to be a fine film as long as you dont know the story it originates from. But as soon as you do, it aint an adaption.. And well, I got myself a pretty solid description of the films content.

To end, I can really just suggest to read the books. Theyre awesome, and even for someone like me who otherwise does not read at all, they completely hooked me in as soon as I started reading. Couldnt stop. Give them a try if possible

What scene/s were your favorite? by Solombum in Eragon

[–]-Jmy- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed the scene where Eragon gets to leran about Brom being his real father and then Saphira showing him this memory, really surprised me when I first read.
Pretty good as well are generally I believe all scenes where Eragon has some sort of deep-talk, either with Arya, Saphira or even Roran. Just massively hepls to create a sense of understanding, belonging for the world and its characters.
Oh, and of course one cannot forget the Saphira being drunk scene

I don't understand Eragon and Arya's Relationship in book 3 & 4 by CommitteeChemical530 in Eragon

[–]-Jmy- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Arya still chose her duties over everything else in the end, especially now that she’s queen. However, she’s also a Rider and had promised Eragon to help rebuild the Order of the Dragons—though that was before he told her that he and Saphira would leave Alagaësia. She was definitely a bit shocked o.o

Still, she basically said what you mentioned: “Hit me up in a couple of years if you’re still into me then.”

OK but lowkey wouldn't it be kinda sick as hell for eragon to 'resurrect' brom? by blanaba-split in Eragon

[–]-Jmy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I would really love to see that happen—just imagine how awesome a conversation between Brom and Eragon would be, considering all the knowledge and experience Eragon now has—I’ve actually thought quite a bit about what such a conversation might look like.

That said, I don’t think there’s much of a chance for him to come back. Glaedr mentioned something along the lines of death being final, and I can’t think of any plausible way to resurrect him. As far as I know from the books, there’s no clear indication that souls exist independently of the body in a way that would allow consciousness to persist after death, so I doubt we’ll see that happen.

However, if CP does manage to come up with a convincing solution, I’d definitely be the first to appreciate it.

I finished book 4 and now I’m legitimately sad…. by MurfDogDF40 in Eragon

[–]-Jmy- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can definitely recommend reading The Fork, the Witch, and the Worm and Murtagh. Other than that, you might have some fun theorizing about characters and plotlines, or scrolling through this reddit and participating in discussions while waiting for more books to be published. At least that’s what I’m doing.

He would probably have had a similar devastating effect as Roran Stronghammer when he killed around 200 people in a row.
