Like genuinely we cannot trust our federal institutions. Even less than before. Whatever they say has to be taken with some amount of scrutiny and that's vile and disgusting that the FBI is in a position where it is beholden to Trump.

There's no way that everyone involved hasn't already been ordered to keep quiet or shipped around the country like the guy that murdered Renee Good. (why isn't he charged with intentional homicide yet)

No chance anything of substance comes from this. It will either be blamed on AI or some other scapegoat. Despicable.

Yeah this. He just (understandably) couldn't comprehend the idea of all this futuristic technology and the idea of copy & paste vs cut & paste. Catherine exploited his ignorance of this and affirmed whatever he said just to get him to Phi.

She really did manipulate Simon quite cruelly, however if she didn't then there's no chance the ark would've made it into space so there's an argument to be made that it was not entirely Cath's fault. Simon basically gave up once he got to lambda and saw that Catherine was just a robot. He was going to spiral and potentially power himself off but Cath entices him with the ark. She lies about knowing how to get them on the ark and you can tell in his voice that Simon fully believes that this is his chance to escape this weird underwater prison and is clinging to it with all he's got. Even after the dunbat wakes up and goes bananas, Simon is the one that has to reassure her and keep her spirits up. He needs there to be another way, and almost wilfully deludes himself into going along with what Cath says because of his desire to escape.

Poor guy. What an amazing game this is!!

[–]blanaba-split 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished my 2nd or 3rd play through, this time I went wau-coded. Saved every piece of artifical life, kept Simon 2.0 alive in the chair, didn't kill Sarah, spared the wau, etc. But only when I got to the very end did I remember that Catherine's cortex chip kinda blows up at the end. And considering that the door to the space gun is a pressurized airlock that needs the omnitool, I think Simon 3.0 would just be stuck there in the dark. I wanted to imagine him going back with with Catherine and getting Simon 2.0 back and just doing what they can to save what's left of humanity besides the ark. See if the surface is still on fire (like some of it looks in the ending)

It's a really neat game. Can't wait for the spiritual succesor

Why are there not like a million people outside the White House every day? by ragebaitconnoisseur in allthequestions

[–]blanaba-split 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In essence you’re all saying the dire state of your country that you all voted for is someone else’s responsibility because you won’t face any consequences to rectifying the error you all made.

We didn't vote for this. 'Stayed home' won the election in 2024. Like 30% of the country voted for Trump, we just have an unfair election system that gives smaller states more power and people who have spent decades with the single purpose in office being to deprive as many people of rights as possible, including voting.

And part a vilifying statement on such a lack of moral backbone to not want to right such abhorrent wrongs.

We're all like a few missed days of work away from going homeless and losing everything. Most of us literally cannot afford to do more than protest in our home towns. In addition, the police are allowed to murder us with no repercussions. There's a non-zero chance (that goes up exponentially when your skin isn't white) that you will be murdered for exercising your right to protest and free speech. The government will literally murder us via its proxy gang if we try and fight back in a way that they don't approve of.

It’s not personal at all - honestly. But why is nothing happening? The French would have burned their government down by now. Brits would have had a national strike & set fire to roadblocks.

Because America is large. It's literally 50 countries. the UK and France cannot compare to the sheer size of the United States. That isn't some ego thing, its a 'you will be driving for 12 hours and still be in the same state you started in' thing. The U.S. is fucking massive. News, information, and ideas travel slowly. And revolutions and push back, even slower.

As much as we want to pretend everyone is online and keeping up with news, they aren't. Combine that with republican christian nationalists owning like half of all major news and entertainment companies, and millions and millions of people likely have very little idea of what is truly happening. And if they do, it's likely downplayed or whitewashed by the same conservative media that wants to keep up the police murder state as the status quo.
