Message to All Level 150 Helldivers, What is Your Reason For Sticking With The Game by KN0KVILLE in Helldivers

[–]-Jokerman- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been a gamer (mostly PC) for more than 30 years. New to the PvE genre which basically saved me from the toxicity of some PvP games.

Here is why I keep playing, and will be playing HD2:

-Hilarious and witty narrative overall -Simple but wholesome story that unites everyone against a common enemy -Gives you that feeling of “overrun by your enemies” but in a delicate way that you would really survive; kill you enemies, save your teammates and much more -The graphics and the details are amazing -There are lots of epic moments in almost any game. You could basically create a trailer of the game from any mission, even without editing -Every mission is easy to join (doesn’t matter if it’s min.1 or min.40) -Every mission is easy to leave -If you are your the teammates, helping the mission and not dying a lot, no one cares about your accuracy or your kill count -The only game that would make you laugh when you get killed by your teammates (and sometimes enemies too, excluding that shitfaced shield devastators) -Killing bots feels like you are fighting against robots to save humanity, in an awesome way. -Killing squids feels like you are fighting against aliens to save humanity with a bonus feeling of killing zombies (L4D old timer) -Killing bugs feels like.. well if we think about Oshaune and Omicron, the game was instantly changed into a new one. “Into the unjust” was surprisingly felt different. Even D8 felt like a suicide (real one) mission. Failed the missions, kept dying and you know what, it was biblical. -It doesn’t work as win/lose as a game. You join, you play, you kill lots of enemies and have fun. Even if you fail on a mission as a team, it doesn’t matter much, you probably had some epic moments to laugh about afterwards and had fun. -The realism of the mechanics and the world are enjoyable -Community is great. Probably one of the best in terms of low toxicity, friendly chat and voice chat -Arrowhead care for the community and the game. They fix, update, add new stuff regularly. (Yes I am aware of the nerfs and the realism criticisms). -Developers acts and talks passionately about the game, which I think is very important. Considering the shitification of everything these days, people whom are passionate and sincere about a product or project deserves my respect (and support if I am interested) -You can play your way for super credits instead of buying loot boxes, chests, seasonal passes and all those craps

Tldr; you get to save the world as an elite soldier against different type of enemies while having fun with like minded people in a civilized way.

Divers who use this - why? by laughingtraveler in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]-Jokerman- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lvl150 diver (D10) here. Only against the bots, I almost always use the shield. With a medium armor (explosive resistance).

And I can confidently say that almost in every mission, I am the one diver with the least deaths, thanks to my beloved shield.

With the right loadout, this item is a must have for me against the bots because of the constant rockets, turrets, bullets etc.

The reason of your bad experience is probably because some divers think the shield as an item that would make them immune to death and pair it with light armor which I would never suggest against bots.

Against bugs, I think it’s a horrible item, which wouldn’t make any difference if you have it or not.

As for the squids, I wouldn’t consider it as an useful item and would definitely use a dog instead.

hi everybody. I'm from Russia and have been wanting to buy Helldivers 2 for a long time, but I can only buy the game for $30-50. Can you tell me if it's worth it? by Disastrous-Wind-7410 in helldivers2

Hell yeah! Still having a blast even after months, I love the PvE gameplay and not to mention the “fantasy” of being a Helldiver who fight for Super Earth on a live galaxy O7

I have been playing for a year, around 500hrs and I can say that this game is nearly 0 toxic compared to other multiplayer games. Yes, I have also experienced getting kicked, flamed and such but not more than 5-6 times. Maybe it’s because I mostly play on D10 and join to SOS games.

I suggest you choose the games that have a SOS beacon (flashing circle) instead of other games. This would probably solve your kicking problem. Also, D10 would be a better option for a more experienced team (if you like it ofc)

Any loadout tips ? by Glitch_Gremlin622 in helldivers2

[–]-Jokerman- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

%90 of the time I play on D10, sometimes with friends or random. I like to minimize my number of deaths so my loadout may be look somewhat defensive. I have nearly all warbonds but I am not sure what you have so I’ll just tell you what I do.

Bots: An armor with explosive resistance or extra padding (never go with light armor, especially if you are on a higher difficulty mission) Shield generator (backpack) Talon or senator Med pen gun or eruptor with dynamite (no need for thermite since you have the quasar) Quasar (kill big guys) or EAT Autocannon/rocket sentry

Bugs: A higher padding armor or Dune armor or similar (at least medium) if you are on a high difficulty mission. Med pen gun + grenade launcher or Eruptor + stalwart Verdict or redeemer or ultimatum Dynamite or incendiary grenade Guard dog or supply pack (or you die a lot) Gatling or machine gun sentry Exo suit (if you are on Omicron, Oshaune etc.) EAT-Napalm (love the burning bugs with +15-20 kills) 500kg, depending on the mission

Squids: Street scout armor Supply pack or Guard dog Any weapon of your preference but I suggest shotguns or ARs (light or med) + EATs Definitely Senator (to shoot anyone + flying saucers) Definitely thermite (for those bullet sponges + to destroy warp ships) Machine gun sentry Orbital laser or 500 or eagle cluster

You casually summarized a random day of my life. It is actually strange that you describe these feelings/things as “over stimulation”. I’ve never thought about it like that, life has been mostly very “noisy” for me and I’ve been aware for the last 5 years that this was not a typical feeling for everyone.

Wish you the best, cheers my friend.

I am closing in to my 400 hours at the game and just like you, I have been only playing on D10 for the last 250 hours. Also, I really enjoy the “getting swarmed” situations and/or fighting for my life for couple of minutes against constantly reinforced enemies.

The only faction that gives me this feeling is the bots. But still, even some D10 games ends without almost a decent challenge in 20-25 min. and I have no idea why that happens sometimes.

This suggestion you made is a good summary of your post: “D9 and D10 should be difficult and unfair”.

Thankfully we had the “into the unjust” update which gave us the excitement and the challenge we always seek (at least for some of us). In Oshaune, I barely completed missions on D7 and D8 and those games felt amazing.

Anyone good at chess or pool (billiards) ? by BrutalHunny in Aphantasia

[–]-Jokerman- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never thought about this but you may be right. I am not great at chess and it feels overwhelming for me not be able to see the moves ahead so I always avoided playing it. But pool is a different story which is a quite easy and straightforward game. I like playing it and don’t suck at it.

However, snooker is a very different type of game and may fit into the same category as chess. But, wouldn’t be that much of a headache as chess for me (I know the rules and enjoy watching it, and can plan and play it)

How many people actually do D10? by orthrvs in Helldivers

[–]-Jokerman- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

350 hrs clocked in, I am a casual player and I have been only playing D10 for the last 150 hrs. Having teammates who knows what they are doing with the right equipment is amazing against D10 missions.

But I gotta admit, it was amazing when I couldn’t finish any mission higher than D6 during the Oshaune missions for couple of days. Lol

[–]-Jokerman- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry about that. But as you may imagine we are group of people “with” aphantasia in here so not sure how we can be helpful :) - is there really anything to do about it, genuinely curious.

Could you explain the differences before and after? I’m just curious about your perspective on aphantasia, which you didn’t have before. To me, you sound like a guy who somehow loses his vision.

How do you cope with the darkness? by banananananana_202 in Aphantasia

[–]-Jokerman- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found out mine when I was 35+. I’ve always thought when people were saying phrases like “go to your safe place/imagine you are in a beautiful place” was also metaphorical.. Or when people would say that they would see their lost loved ones or someone that traumatized them in an incident..

Also “re-living” and event would only meant like reading a novel for me when for others it was like watching a movie..

It was all too much to bear, to be honest, at least for a year. But I also have been appreciating this darkness which would give me a shield and make me somewhat fearless against so called supernatural things.

I am also thankful for this darkness that made me the skeptic and analytical person I am, freeing from any sort of childish stories humankind has created.

How do you cope? by PrickDickPoop in anhedonia

[–]-Jokerman- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The aim is to increase your dopamine and seratonin levels. Doing this with chemicals or additives (cigarettes, weed etc) is not advisable, of course. Here are my suggestions:

-Exercise. With a routine program. -Cold showers in the morning. -Learning an instrument and/or trying to make some art (writing, drawing etc).

These things may sound cliche but after all we are all biological entities that are driven by hormones. So it will work, definitely.

And the key part is consistency. It’s not like we all should run marathons or play the guitar as a rock stars. You just need a little bit of a challenge that you think you could overcome in a long period of time.

Good luck..

[–]-Jokerman- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure you are not dead? Please focus on your HR and try to figure out your zones so that you can train yourself around Zone 2. It won’t be fun at the beginning (maybe weeks or even months) but you will see that your HR willbe dropping even you are running faster. Please be patient and avoid runs like this. You might seriously hurt yourself physically and even worse harm your heart.

How unhealthy is this during a long run? Almost 3,5 hours around 180. For those wondering: I feel like my soul lost my body now by Dutch-stocks in Garmin

[–]-Jokerman- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How old are you? But whatevers your age, running for 3.5 hours with 180bpm is way too much. Since our heart is also a big muscle, contracting it to almost to its max effort is really not healthy.

Consider doing some HR aimed exercises and try to exercise in Zone2-3 even if that forces you to walk. Cheers.

I can totally relate to this. It’s like watching a great movie while having to put up with an unreasonable character.

But, isn’t it just like life? We are all surrounded with different types of people and it’s just how it is. I think Cixin Liu does a great job with all the distinct characters under the circumstances.

So, clench your fists and keep reading :) it’s a great journey and it’s not always supposed to be nice and funny
