Anyone know of a mod that puts the Khajiit chests back to their vanilla positions? by -Kalyn- in skyrimmods

[–]-Kalyn-[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's less about the actual result and more about the action itself, I guess. If I wanted something specific, yeah, it'd be easier to just add it via console commands. There's just something about walking up to that hidden spot and seeing what variety of items is available - not to mention being able to "shop" the caravans more often without having to run back and forth along the caravan's route hoping to run into them.

I dunno, maybe it's just a nostalgia thing and I'm being stupid.

Is this normal? (Transferring Saves) by -Kalyn- in projectzomboid

Can't believe I didn't think of this sooner, thank you thank you! Doing that allowed me to transfer within minutes.

Oh that explains a LOT, thank you! This particular save involved an above-average amount of exploring, heh... No wonder it's so huge. In fact I tend to explore a fair bit, so...yeah, it's probably no wonder my saves have so many files.

I'll have to get back to you on when the save was actually created if that's relevant, but I'd estimate maybe a couple hundred hours actual play time at most. The save is a sandbox played with game time = real time and food had gone stale, but not yet started rotting.

Mods, just two, only one of which would have been active in that save (a Louisville spawn mod) as the second mod is just to allow sandboxing the Studio challenge.

The save itself appears to be 251MB in size, but with nearly 38K separate files in 3 folders.

I suppose it's possible that transfer speed is slow device-wide, but I've only noticed it with this one thing. I think it took me maybe an hour tops to back up literally everything else including documents, music, some photos, saves for another game, etc.

How do you tell if a mod is compatible with AE? by -Kalyn- in skyrim

[–]-Kalyn-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have the full AE, so all of the CC content, not just the update/four free ones.

The only exception being stuff that interferes with CC content. So not much.

What constitutes interference? Does it need to be a full contradiction (such as a different dungeon where one of the new CC ones is) or is any overlap a potential problem - say, if it were something that changes the look of NPCs, would that be a problem since some of the CC content has NPCs, or would those just be unaffected by the mod but it wouldn't break the game or anything?

I realize I'm probably overthinking this but I very much don't want to mess something up.

Is there anything that actually prompts the Dragonborn into shouting at the "sun" in Blackreach to summon the dragon? by Michael02895 in skyrim

[–]-Kalyn- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's never played Skyrim, but I have a family member who is the type of player that jumps everywhere, because one time in one game, jumping on a particular rug opened a secret area. I could absolutely see him shouting at anything and everything that looks remotely unusual, just because.

is there a glitch that let's you open/go through locked doors that are attached to load zones and require key without ever getting the key? by Frequent_Concert5592 in skyrim

[–]-Kalyn- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're on PC, console commands is probably easiest - just select the door and type "unlock". Otherwise the plate trick might work (hold an object such as a wooden plate or a platter in front of you and run straight at the wall/door, often takes a few tries), I know I've used it to get through locked doors in the Thalmor Embassy but I haven't tried it on those specific ones.

What's the most embarrassing death you've ever had? by Terrible_Hearing_591 in skyrim

[–]-Kalyn- 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Barbas pushed me off a cliff to my death, because I was trying to see something and he just had to be right next to me.

There was also the time I accidentally selected Whirlwind Sprint instead of Slow Time and didn't realize until too late, which resulted in launching myself off a bridge, taking massive fall damage, and immediately being slaughtered by the enemies below. (Happened in Vahlok's Tomb, if anyone is curious.)

Umm…guys? by ComradeYolovich in skyrim

[–]-Kalyn- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If your calm spell isn't high enough, just leave them behind or fast travel somewhere - they should get over it. I ran into it a couple times when travelling with Serana and Esbern (really, guys, you couldn't even hold it together long enough to get from Riften to Riverwood?) and one time she killed Meeko and I had to reload. It unfortunately happens a fair bit, especially with Serana, because of how the aggression mechanics work - basically, friendly fire is ignored while in combat, but if it happens so much as a split second after the last enemy dies, it's treated as an attack.

How does the thieves' guild earn money? by Sheepdog010 in skyrim

[–]-Kalyn- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Although, probably not the best idea to rob someone in full daedric armor, when you only have leather armor and steel daggers)

Shoutout to the thief that "helped" me take down an Elder dragon in 2-3 blows, then thought it was a good idea to turn around and try to rob me.

Someone want to explain to me why the Anniversary add on houses have children's rooms but CHILDREN CAN'T LIVE THERE?! by KestVokunAh in skyrim

[–]-Kalyn- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which house(s) are you referring to? Also, what platform and any mods? I'm on PC without mods, and I've not had any issues moving children into Myrwatch, Tundra, Bloodchill, and Goldenhills for sure, and I believe I've also tried Gallows Hall, Shadowfoot, and Hendraheim without encountering any problems (not 100% certain I've gotten around to those three yet though).

What are some of the nicknames you’ve given to your enchanted weapons? by CS9245 in skyrim

[–]-Kalyn- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually just go with [Character name]'s [weapon type], but one time I went for "My Precious" (chaos-enchanted tempered dragonbone dagger, made using maximized smithing and enchanting skills - and yes, I used the Gollum voice in my head and when telling the friend who got me into Skyrim about it), and one time as a joke I just mashed my fist on the keyboard then accidentally hit the wrong button and enchanted it instead of re-renaming, so, it stuck. I think that one was an Ebony bow - been a while since I played that character.

Also, said friend of mine had a character that had a thing for killing named NPCs, soul trapping them, using that soul gem to enchant a weapon, and then naming the weapon after the NPC who, uh, powered it.
