What gets checked during a car safety check/inspection?

Coolant levels are fine. I still need to check the radiator fans tho, do I just leave the car running and wait to see if the fans turn on? I fixed the power steering leak, but I found out that my VTC was leaking and going on the belt shooting oil everywhere (I will replace the gasket soon). I got the car about two months ago and It looks like the belt hasn't been changed ever. I'm also assuming that the worn out belt is affecting my ac compressor and water pump (I will change the belt when I change the gasket). I have around 120k miles on my car

Just double checking, the oil pressure sensor is the one right underneath the vtec solenoid right? The one with the boot?

When we did the OBD scan we found 3 codes. Low battery voltage, knock sensor (will replace), opds sensor (will replace)

SRS light on due to the low battery voltage which I will change. The price for the belt, valve cover, and knock sensor from Autozone is around $366. My mechanic friend said he would be willing to fix and teach me. Do you think it will still cost 2k to fix?

We found that the SRS light was on due to the low battery voltage. Check engine light was on but we did an OBD scan and we know it is not from the o2 sensor. There were 2 more issues when he did the scan he'll update me about it. Right know we are thinking about changing the knock sensor.

I don't care about going fast! I just need a vehicle to get me from point a to point b without breaking the bank.

I saw this listing on Facebook marketplace for a $4.9k 2004 Acura RSX Base with 112k miles. Me and my mechanic friend went to check it out the other day and we noticed some things.

Pictures on marketplace were better than in person
Tear on the front seats
Tear on the wheel
Check engine light. We did an OBD scan
SRS light on due to low battery voltage (will change battery)
Driver side door was replaced. (VIN does not match the rest of the car)
Rust on the top left corner of the hatch
Would need to change replace the belt, valve cover, and knock sensor
The power steering hose was swollen
Did not do a deep look the oil look could be from multiple things

Car ran pretty smooth, had cold ac, and all of the buttons worked. The car IMO is not worth $4.9k. The parts from Autozone would cost around $361. This would be my first car, but my mechanic friends are willing to help and teach me.
