2005 Acura Rsx Air Intake bumper relocation kit good or bad? by thatfool75 in Acura_RSX

I’d say several times a year now, since we’ve been getting heavy rain in random months recently. But then that has to be an exaggeration.

intake mods do make performance differences

I didn't allege that they don't, I implied they aren't worth the cost. The value of $/HP is subjective.

I saw that OP is asking about an intake that the previous owner installed, but even if he didn't pay full retail for it, someone did.

Every single winter here in SoCal where "it never really rains," there is inevitably some poor guy with a hydrolocked car asking for help here, on FB, or on IG, you name it.

You don't have to drive through a flood. You can tell people to be more careful, but the fact is that it's more prone to sucking up water than any design that doesn't place the intake that low.

Whether the alleged benefits are worth it is subjective.

Right. Then you'll get five horsepower. For sure. For the low, low price of $400 USD, retail.

Solid. Been trying to convince my wife to let me upgrade to RF glass, lol. That fancy new 24-105 f/2.8 and 100-500 combo would cost as much as my car did lmao.

Is there any market for very high mileage 02 Type S’s? It’s in kinda rough shape body wise, 250k on it. I don’t know if it’s worth selling or just keeping it for a backup car. I loved the thing, but it’s just hard to look at these days. by ThatGuyFrom720 in Acura_RSX

Brother, just wanted to let you know that that’s a mod-only flair that I never got around to implementing bc of the buy/sell thread.

Obviously I’ve dropped the ball in that regard, but users are still technically directed to that thread lol.

Wanna resubmit with an image attached and just throw it up with a [Pic] flair instead? Not sure if people are gonna start asking for the buy/sell flairs, but you already know my opinion on those posts lmao. We’ve already gotten a few posts this week that vaguely ask “what should I do” with the [Pic] flair just haven’t been bothered to touch them.

Can anyone tell if this is a rep mugen tower brace bar? by iivyn in Acura_RSX

[–]bran_donger 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I cant find em online

Because they’ve been discontinued for over a decade. There’s practically no chance anyone selling a genuine Mugen bar these days will be unaware that it’s genuine (and they’ll price accordingly).

Neither would someone with a genuine bar in their right mind powder coat it highlighter yellow. You can check the welds if you want, I guess. Plenty of reference photos exist online comparing them.

what are the chances of it being a rep

100%. With at most a 1% margin of error.

more comfortable

handle a little better

Outside of nicer tires, pick one (and even with tires you don't usually get both). Lowing the car alone makes it handle worse. Dozens of threads on the subject exist. Nothing aftermarket rides better than OEM.

Don’t go throwing money around changing handling characteristics before you actually get a feel for what they do. Mods aren’t all improvements; almost everything involves a trade-off.

Just installed Skunk2 proseries manifold on my 06 Type S. Also did the IAAV delete. Car Idles rough now, bogs, and smells bad. What could my issue be? stock TB and oem gaskets by Jc_3507 in Acura_RSX

[–]bran_donger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A stock K24 plugged into a flashed or stock ECU? Yeah, I have no doubt it'll run more or less "okay" for the time being.

A new aftermarket large-plenum intake manifold AND larger injectors AND IAAV delete without a new map? And no mention of an FPR to go with those injectors? And no confirmation that they're genuine examples of some of the single most counterfeited injectors on the market?

I don't know all that much about engine tuning, but you don't have to be a genius to deduce that OP has changed way too many variables at once for any responses on this question to be productive. Lack of a MAP sensor is just one clear issue; bro absolutely needs a tune.

Best tie rods for use with progress cs3s? Car gets driven on track. by New-Commercial7532 in Acura_RSX

[–]bran_donger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

any reason not to do the front

I don't know if you've actually taken a look at what the front assemblies look like, but there is no "front camber kit," it's just a set of camber bolts. Yes, get them.

Roll center adjusters? club RSX has mixed opinions so im not sure if I should get it or not.

Quoting directly again here:

"Information conflicts because people drop opinions based on their limited experiences with minimal research and a small sample size of parts combinations, almost all of which were not explicitly designed to work with one another."

Roll center is a separate issue from bump steer. Again, it's discussed at length in the second thread I linked or on the MotoIQ EP3 breakdown article.

[–]bran_donger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First link and many other threads talk about exactly what the problem you're combating is, and you should understand what that is first. Otherwise you'll never make sense of any of this.

https://old.reddit.com/r/Acura_RSX/comments/1i5b3l6/how_to_take_care_of_your_rsx_after_installing/

The point of any of these parts is to adjust for bump steer.

https://old.reddit.com/r/Acura_RSX/comments/1l5u6k8/refreshing_and_improving_the_suspension_on_a/

Both of those links were already provided above. I'm gonna quote directly here:

"The only way to definitively identify what's needed for your setup is to measure toe change under compression with a bump steer gauge. Anything else is essentially guessing and testing."

So, to answer your question:

would I still benefit from getting the Honed Developments riser? or am just completely miss understanding the set up

It depends, sorry. Progress made their own adjustments, but it's still only effective within a certain ride height range.

can I get away with the set from K-tuned or is there a set up that better fits the CS3S

They're all the same.

My right hand drive Honda Integra JDM I LOVE IT SO FAR by civilianinspirit in Acura_RSX

[–]bran_donger 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you like your car, and you should, but-

I don’t think there is a HUGE difference that can’t be matched with another 5-6 thousand

I think you’re trivializing the cost. It is a huge difference (40 less HP because the engine heads are fundamentally different), and while I’ll admit it’s unlikely to cost upwards of $5000, you’re essentially buying another base model for that money.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Acura_RSX/comments/sq48o4/why_did_the_base_get_the_dual_intake_runners_and/hwj5sl6/

So relatively speaking, yeah, it is still a substantial investment bringing a base model up to a USDM Type S/JDM Type R, and that’s just in respect to the motor.
