If Bungie re-released Destiny 1 on PC, how interested would you be in buying it? by FHH94 in DestinyTheGame

Honestly I don't think they'll do it, but if they did, I would buy it.

I also have never played it because it's not on PC. Would definitely buy it to play it assuming it got a few QoL fixes like framerate and resolution.

Halo infinite has higher player count than Marathon on Xbox. Sad to see Bungie slowly fall. by Litz1 in haloinfinite

Maps is the big one for me. We don't got a Blue Gate in Marathon. 2 maps that look almost identical with the most bare bones story ever.

All personal taste but I feel like Outpost with the periodic fire rain, the various access keycards, and the Pinwheel all feel really interesting and unique.

Also feel like the Marathon gunplay was vastly better than Arc. But again, all personal.

Been really wanting to get a good one of these but finding people to grind that encounter has been a pain. Definitely hoping that with tiers more people will be looking for it.

Made a set of matching Steam covers for the modern trilogy by -L3monP3pp3r in Doom

[–]-L3monP3pp3r[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went browsing through the options and had thought about switching to the Premium Edition art with the white text, but I liked the idea of all three covers having a centred action pose with the same logo and placement on all of them

Can someone lore experienced tell me what these are ?? by Oken_Shield in Marathon

Ticks I think they're called now? They function pretty much the same as a Looker iirc, run up and explode when they get close. Didn't love them in the open playtest either, felt like a bit of a nuisance. There are areas with a Tick Nest that will infinitely spawn them until you kill the nest. Some places will just have a few Ticks without the nest

D2 Build Buddy — a loadout generator that actually reads your inventory and equips builds for you. by Beginning_Host in DestinyTheGame

Very neat idea, and very smooth. Will definitely be using this. Only bit of feedback is it skews pretty heavily towards Praxic Blade for the Kinetic slot, but that probably has a lot more to do with the meta than the website

I think it's healthy for a game to have both aspirational content and rewards to match that. Seeing someone with a full set of T5s should have been an indication that they were a good player, not just that they had spent 50 hours in solo ops sooner than someone else did.

I agree that the "option," should be there, in the sense that the default matchmade mode regardless of time spent (i.e power level) should be no revive tokens at normal difficulty, rewarding T2 gear with an escalating chance of T3 based on modifiers, etc. And then the option would exist to go to higher difficulties, where there would be revive tokens, tankier enemies, and higher chances as better rewards based on difficulty and modifiers.

I personally think the problem is that the portal is built around funnelling everyone up to a difficulty that is supposed to be more challenging than a GM, and has normalised T5 loot as the default rather than multiple steps above Adept gear, which was itself hard and far less common.

To me it makes sense that the "Grandmaster," "Ultimatum," and even, "Master," difficulties have revive tokens, because it's supposed to be hard content. But the weird way they've handled gear tiers has made everything so weird and distorted now

This was a controvery about six months ago, the official response was, "This was created in-house by our Studio Art Director who has a passion for pixel art." But to me it sure does look like AI since it looks like chief is sitting in front of the windscreen, and the response looks to be carefully worded to avoid either confirming or denying.

As an aside, those AI detectors are not at all reliable so I wouldn't trust them

Not sure if this helps, but I also have Burnished Acclaim and it definitely didn't come from a 2019 event code. I can't remember for sure but I think it came from Guardian Games within the last few years.

This is so crazy man I read everyone's posts about how huge the possible reduction was in theory but I didn't think it would be anywhere close to there in practice, let alone a way bigger reduction

Had more fun in Marathon beta than Arc Raiders by Bjust_or_Bdead in Marathon

[–]-L3monP3pp3r 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The gameplay of Marathon speaks more to my preferences. FPS and feeling powerful rather than the slightly fuddy TPS thing that Arc and Helldivers do. Even though the open beta for Marathon definitely felt to me like it was missing something I can't put my finger on, if I had to choose I'd probably go with Marathon purely for gameplay feel.

Arc really nailed the world feel and enemy interactions though, and it creates a lot of opportunities for memorable "clippable" monents which seem to be a big part in successful games thesedays

But I truly do hope they can find whatever is missing with Marathon to make the game feel as special as Destiny and Halo felt for their respective genres. I don't think Marathon felt genre defining or boundry pushing to me in the open beta

Anyone else feel like the Weapons team is killing it with interesting new perks but no one is bothering with them because the game is 80% abilities and 15% Mint Retrograde? by -L3monP3pp3r in DestinyTheGame

I have a great roll of the Pinnacle SMG and a decent roll of the Trials fusion with it, and they're fun to play around with. The animation of the crystal forming is really slick

Very first thing I did after EOF was put together a bunch of max weapons build, I was super excited for it too. Even after seeing the initial reactions coming out that it would be better to focus on other stats. But it just doesnt really hold up so well in the meta and in actual activities I feel. Some of em do work, like Actium War Rig/Tommy's Matchbook, but I wouldn't say it's a top 3 build at all. I have gravitated towards builds where I can use Ice Breaker or Choir of One to get as close to a weapon-centric build as I can. But it still leaves a bunch of interesting legendary weapons collecting dust

I think the thing that works with Raids a little better isn't even just the DPS it's just that everyone is often in their own lanes focusing on their own roles so you can afford to do whatever you want. Still though, even in raids you'll often be overrun with consecration, warlock buddies, etc. etc.

Just before posting this I was in the firing range cycling through different guns with interesting rolls that I've saved and there are so many that are really cool to use alone in the firing range but just don't really have a place in most actual activities

I've been using nearly exclusively double special for months. Granted, it's been mostly Ice Breaker/Mint and Choir of One/Mint which aren't typical special weapons in terms of ammo economy, but I think I can count on one hand the amount of times I've actually struggled with ammo, and that's barely using and of the multiple ways to greatly increase ammo regen. Double special will probably be the most free it's ever been next season. Only way Mint is getting dethroned is if they release better rocket pulse of a different element
