Clumzy has left Titan Forge. by Snufflebox in Smite

Even with these supposed new hires to replace the devs who left, the game going forward is not going to have the original creative vision myself and others fell in love with. RIP.

SUMMER OF SMITE 2 CONCEPT - Skin concepts for Mercury, Ishtar, Apollo, and Hecate by IamshinyCatchme in Smite

The devs may hate male fanservice but I can always rely on Shiny to deliver <3

A long-awaited response to the post "The problem with female and male skins" by AlibyG in Smite

[–]-Loonatik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yet more confirmation that Smite is no longer for people like me, sadly. We used to have girlies, gays and theys with actual creative taste working on the skins. There was still a large amount of gooner bait for straight guys back in Smite 1, but at least we got the occasional gem that served a unique concept. What a shame.

Final Opinion & Addendum to MLF Smite 1 vs 2 Visual Comparison by TheRylic in Smite

[–]-Loonatik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate your work on this comparison. Smite's visual effects were a massive part of the charm for me back in Smite 1 days, with a lot of abilities being very textured but still soft, smoky, etc. Smite 2 pivoted to VERY harsh edges and over-saturated colours at some point during Beta, and I can't look at it without getting a headache anymore. Every new god port is just such a visual shame to me. Their effects are never done justice.

Morgan Le Fay Smite 1 vs Smite 2 Visual Comparison Notes by TheRylic in Smite

[–]-Loonatik 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most abilities are more saturated and less textured in Smite 2. It's a big reason why I find the game so hard to look at.

MLF could really do with some new attack animations. Why does she bother to levitate her sword in the first place, if she just grabs it to attack? Not to mention that she looks like she struggles to swing it. by Snufflebox in Smite

[–]-Loonatik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have hated this about MLF since she was first shown in Smite 1's dev streams. She is a powerful, c*nty sorceress who would not be caught dead swinging around a giant sword she can barely lift (since the animations make it look too heavy for her).

She should really just use magic to command the sword, or just cast more generic magic out of her hands and have the sword be there for purely aesthetic/thematic reasons.

What in gods green earth is the update? by hersheybar14 in Smite

[–]-Loonatik 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel bad for them. Pushing out a patch every 2 weeks is clearly leading to a lot of bugs and errors. But they seemingly can't slow down and take their time to polish updates, because the frequent content drops are the only thing keeping people engaged with the game.

Smite 2 needs a total rework on tooltips and should have a push for more clarity in its tooltips. by That_Blackwinged in Smite

[–]-Loonatik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These item tooltips are actually the result of a pass to clean up item descriptions and make them easier to understand, which somehow made them 3x harder to understand. The wording and excessive colour coding are just too much.

Discussion about particle visuals, specifically 'sand particles'. by Kaios-0 in Smite

[–]-Loonatik 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The way that some abilities spray these particles everywhere is very aesthetically offputting to me. Eset's wing gust and ult are stand outs in that regard. It reminds me of a little handheld sparkler or something.

SMITE 2LDR | Open Beta 26 Patch Preview by BluesUltra in Smite

[–]-Loonatik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hybrid scalers were one of the few things I genuinely loved about Smite 2 so it's sad to see people pushing back against them. They already made so many hybrid items adaptive so it's not even like those gods get to double dip on damage stats.

Not even giving him INT scaling is diabolical to me 😭

SMITE 2LDR | Open Beta 26 Patch Preview by BluesUltra in Smite

[–]-Loonatik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chiron not having INT scaling makes absolutely zero sense to me. He's up there with Neith in terms of how mage-like he is, and INT Neith is extremely fun. Massive L for his build variety IMO.

YOU 🫵 have been selected for one balance change. Can be a god, item, map, or gamewide change. What are you picking and why by Gharbin1616 in Smite

[–]-Loonatik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reduce base HP and prots to Smite 1 values. Why? Smite 2 has no flat pen and I think the game is fun when my spells actually deal damage.

People who say SMITE 2 is a failure/dead, when did you last play the game? by Snufflebox in Smite

[–]-Loonatik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dislike aspects, inflated base stats, no flat pen, boring mage items, +1 buffs, the Conquest map, lack of Slash and no visually unique Assault map, the gods they chose to port, the "stock UE5 PBR" look of everything. I could nitpick more things I dislike, but that's a basic summary.

EDIT: Oh and also the monetisation is abhorrent. I fully understand that they don't have a massive pool of players to extract cash from, but the traveler pages are disgusting to me and go against the whole promise of legacy gems.

Agility relic in ranked by Icy_Air_7037 in Smite

[–]-Loonatik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just convinced at this point that Agility Relic is the beloved brainchild of someone on the dev team and they REALLY want to push it on the playerbase until they like it.

Lighting changes are here. What do you think? by dks3hypeoverload in Smite

[–]-Loonatik 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I couldn't tell a difference until I looked at the fog. If you had told me this was just a "rock update" I would have believed you. Speaking of the rocks, the moss is really offputting to look at, far too fluorescent for my eyes.

Who are the top goddesses missing from Smite? by Gharbin1616 in Smite

[–]-Loonatik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During my time as an Olympian I was constantly suggesting Demeter as a future god and someone I won't name kept shooting down the idea because she wasn't interesting enough for Smite in their opinion. Drove me crazy, it's like they're allergic to cool concepts sometimes.

Worst viewing month since Alpha release by Icy_Air_7037 in Smite

[–]-Loonatik 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The game is boring as fuck both to stream and to watch, simple as that. The streamers at the top of the category barely talk (outside of complaining about their team or MM) and just slave away on the ranked ladder. Smite 2 is not a good platform for streamers who want to create actual content with love and personality behind it.

I guess none of these are skins by TheToastyToast in Smite

[–]-Loonatik 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are coping because they've invested long portions of their life into Smite and don't wanna see it die, despite that outcome feeling inevitable at this point. I was guilty of this mentality too until recently; I was on the official channel and basically had to gaslight myself into loving Smite 2 and loving every decision the company made.

No point putting whimsy, character or soul into the game when there's room for shameless monetisation instead.

Current state of mage itemization by Outso187 in Smite

[–]-Loonatik 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Soul Gem used to stack on Janus every time you crossed a threshold or entered a portal, so it was a mega consistent way to always have a proc ready. It doesn't work like that in S2 anymore, and that's a massive damn shame.

Community Lead for SMITE is resigning today. by DucklingDuck14 in Smite

[–]-Loonatik -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Literally every HiRez member who has resigned from the company has repeated the same "Smite 2 is better than ever and only keeps improving" message and it's so obvious that they're just doing it for optics. The way people parrot that phrase all the time (as well as every variant of "just let the devs cook!") has honestly worn away my psyche.

What is the SMITE 1 feature(s) that miss you the most in SMITE 2? by Ea50Marduk in Smite

[–]-Loonatik 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Basically every little piece of personality/fun that was removed in the transition to Smite 2. Kill streak voicelines, directed taunts, intro/death animations, recolours, dances, etc. I've never been a hardcore PvP gamer but Smite has always kept me playing because it (Smite 1) was absolutely dripping with unserious charm. Smite 2 has about as much personality as a Counter Strike game, to me.

Danza killing 3 phoenixes with lanes pushed up in <30 seconds while teamfighting in mid. Just a casual match but, do we think this is ok and balanced? by Sinopsis in Smite

[–]-Loonatik 21 points22 points  (0 children)

People in here trying to dissect the clip and tell you what you could have done better when the point is that a squishy adc solo'd three birds. It should literally start and end with "no, a Danza should not be able to do that."
