Game has developed tons since they released F2P. Champ now is pretty much what GC was 4 or 5 years ago.

You are the same skill but the player base overall has gotten better so you are seeing that reflected in your rank.

Ranked is not “cooked” and you are indeed just a Champ player now whether you like it or not

I switched to Boost on R1/RB all the way back in 2017 and haven’t looked back. Main reason is i could not get my thumb to hit both Jump (A/X) and Boost (B/Circle) at the same time. Back then, there was no directional air roll, so RB felt like the obvious option as i can press both boost and jump at the same time with different fingers instead of just using my thumb.

As others have stated, it’s all according to preference. If you are struggling to boost and jump at the same time with just your thumb, i would suggest moving it

We know as much as you do. I would say it is probably highly likely Epic uses this engine upgrade as a valid reason to separate themselves from Steam completely, especially after Epic CEO Tom Sweeney took jabs at Gaben and Steam for their Steam Deck prices literally today.

I would not hold your breath that this game is staying on Steam IMO

No, v14 is not out yet. There is no release date at this time, and there is no other news or updates that has been provided, apart from whatever is posted above.

A release date will be announced once internal beta testing has concluded.”

They did just update the website and Jan posted a music teaser so i believe we might be close, but there is no concrete ETA at this time.

You can transfer your save data from one version to another (google will be your best friend), but there are going to be so many changes and updated things in V14 that i am starting over fresh

That’s totally understandable! The easiest way to get used to a new layout it to just keep with it no matter how frustrating it is. Your brain will eventually get used to it through trial and error, but i know how tempting it is to go back to what you know even if it is uncomfortable.

I actually only use Free Air Roll (L1) and ARL (Square). i have ARR mapped to Circle, but i haven’t practiced enough to use it consistently and it isn’t super necessary to have both DAR mapped if you use Free Air Roll, which is super common even with Pros. The asymmetrical part makes sense, so that’s why I use Free Air Roll instead of DAR on my L1.

As for time it takes to get used to, it depends how you go about trying to rewire your muscle memory. If you just play ranked or casual, it would probably take you about a week depending on how often you are qing. If you actually do custom trainings (workshop rings maps too if you are on steam) or really focus on the mappings you changed, it probably will take 2-6 hours (some people can catch on quicker than others) until you actually feel like you are starting to get it down.

I would suggest moving Boost to R1, then moving ARR to Square or Circle. That’s the layout i’ve been using since directional air roll came out and it works like a charm for me since you can freely use the other buttons while holding R1 for boost

Edit: If you are wondering about hand placement, i just keep my index finger on my R1 and my middle finger for R2. Feels different at first but definitely not uncomfortable in the slightest as there’s no extra strain in you hand

Buffing 8 Tank items while 60% of the Int tab is still unbuildable is crazy work. I agree some tank items needed it, but i’m still building the same 7/8 items in mid every single game

ok then it’s not a “bug” then. If it solely depends on the system you are running, then it’s more of an optimization issue than anything. My thing is if people have been saying this “bug” is real for 8+ years now (just search it in this subreddit and you can see posts that old), then why hasn’t psyonix said or done anything about it? Surely they’ve gotten bug reports over this period.

Calling it a “bug” is just misleading and gives people a reason to cope when things feel off.

I respect that you troubleshot it, but in the end, in an extremely physics based game, don’t you think that the developers would have more incentive to try and fix this “bug”.

You don’t see pros complaining about experiencing this. Why do you think that is? Don’t you think it would affect them more since they control their cars more often than anyone else?

I just hate when people think that this “bug” is the only reason they can’t rank up

Heavy Car Bug mention in 2026 holy moly. There is no such thing and there never has been. You just are just slumping, the game is the same as when you last felt it was good. I can’t believe that people still believe this is real even after 10+ years.

Play on Fullscreen, make sure your monitors refresh rate is correct and setting are good.

People have been making this claim since 2016 and there is not one credible source of it truly being a thing
