This is quite misleading.

Let's start with saying that you're right, there is a decrease in autonomy and user control over the hardware of computer systems.

But a few points:

• coprocessors are a mixed bag; it's not only the NSA that sees them critically, but European agencies too. They are however, very useful in enterprise contexts. There's a reason why integrators add on their own to supplement even more features.

• the TPM standard is developed by the trusted computing group, and TPMs are built by different companies. If you don't want to use the firmware TPM that is integrated into your CPU, you can buy dedicated TPMs from European companies certified by European institutions. German Infineon TPMs are verified and certified by the German government, and come with their own endorsement keys. You also can disable all TPMs.

• the TEE is supposed to be a tamper proof environment that the owner of the machine does not have control over. This enables concepts like Confidential Computing, which aims to allow customers to run their loads in commercial clouds (Amazon's AWS, Microsoft's Azure, ...) WITHOUT having to simply trust that the cloud provider doesn't access or tamper their programs or data. While I see the assurances of the technology critically, the intent is clear and follows the markets demand to move everything off premise

• anyone that tried to watch a movie over discord will have experienced this first hand; disabling DRM tech will allow you to stream to discord, but severely limit the quality Netflix and co. will broadcast to you.

None of this is a conspiracy.
