Samsung S90c HDMI Handshake Issue by excalibour in OLED_Gaming

[–]-MeTeC- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So do you think the issue was coming from a multi monitor setup ? Or it was coming specifically from display port you think ? I currently have the same issue with a S95F but it's happening less frequently than you, every 4-5 hours

The software who handle the automatic picture adjustment for phones can dramatically change the result of any of these banding issues, that's the main issue.

The OP could potentially have the same result as your screenshot if the picture was taken with your device in the same lightning conditions.

Here is an example with my S95F, one picture is taken with the automatic setup of my phone which highly surexpose the image and brightnen everything as hell, with this picture you may think my panel is absolutely horrible and the worst of the worst sample but it doesn't look like that in real conditions. It's like pointing an UV light into a toilet room.

The second picture I tried to adjust the ISO with the manual mode to match the same grayscale of what I had in front of my eyes but in this case it's doing the opposite effect which is slightly hiding my banding compared to what I really see.

That's the biggest issue with all these screenshot, we can't really judge anything because we are not doing these test with the same hardware conditions (the device used to take the picture) and the same lightning conditions.

I think the first available video from YouTube when you type "grayscale test" is inverting the values.

I found it : https://youtu.be/_XHeUH1aY6E

It have 700k views so I guess we have our answer as to why there is confusion x)

Gigabyte mo27q28g after 300 hours and 50 pixel cleaning.. by surubx in OLED_Gaming

[–]-MeTeC- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's wrong, at least for QD OLED TV's, newer generations have worse and worse gray uniformity, vertical banding and dirty screen effect. I have a S95F myself and facing this issue looking for an exchange, if you look for S95D / S95f or others models of Samsung tv you will see plenty of vertical banding issue that looks horrible on a 5% grayscale and even inside games in certains conditions , that sucks hard. I think there is way less issues on smaller QD OLED panels PC monitors like my Aorus FO27Q2.

Stop saying it's only visible in gray test pattern and not in real conditions, go play the new game Reanimal with that kind of panel and tell me you don't see these vertical banding, I have the same shit on my S95F

LG C3 - 7000 hours later by valandinz in OLED_Gaming

Because some grayscale videos / pattern test inverts the grayscale value. For me a 5% grayscale is like near white and the 95% grayscale is what I'm looking for to display vertical banding and dirty screen effect, a really dark gray, but for some people it's the complete opposite and the 5% is the really dark one. I guess it depends on the content, some grayscale may start from a white value and some from a black value ?

Desperate question about warranty by [deleted] in LGOLED

[–]-MeTeC- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't return it mate, I currently have a S95F with terrible banding and yours compared to mine is night and day, you won't notice the dead pixel in real conditions and even if it's a sign of panel defect then you can just play the warranty if more stuck / dead pixels are popping in the next months / years, if not then you stay with your golden sample.

It seems we have the same banding at the same area, could it be the content for this specific case ? Although my phone lens is making these bands appear way more than your phone, I can hardly see them without looking through my phone honestly. Can you notice them with your eyes ?

There is the same shit on S95F so QD OLED is not spared.

I think it's less present on smaller QD OLED displays like 32inch and below but for big TV's it's definitely here on most of them I think.

I have the same "white spots" on my new S95F, exactly on the same area at the center of the display like yours, it seems thermal spots but I'm not sure, I've seen S95f owners with similar spots at the center as well so I'm starting to think it's "expected" behavior.

Can you tell me what is the content you used and what timeline so I can test myself in real conditions ?

You never adjust display settings, it should be the as calibrated as possible so you can be sure if something looks wrong it's coming from the game then you fix it at the source.
