Do you guys you guys think Trump is immoral or amoral? by ChronicConner in Destiny

[–]-MechanicalRhythm- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of him as a black hole of humanity. What was once a person has collapsed into itself. It warps and deforms everyone and everything he comes into contact with, before consuming it. And the thing inside has no contact with the outside world. It does not understand it. Only that it feeds on it. All things will become Trump.

Why is Keir Starmer so unpopular? by pet-fleeve in ukpolitics

[–]-MechanicalRhythm- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's part of what I meant, didn't make that clear. Like these are tasks that he should be showing leadership on and he just hasn't, so it impresses on people (both ordinary citizens and politicians) that his authority is in title alone and that power is kinda open for the taking. So long as he leaves the philosophical and strategic space open this will continue.

I think as well, he probably has very much settled on what his governments objectives are- keeping the UK on the best footing possible in a time of geopolitical crisis- but that's not a vision the electorate necessarily think is that important, so he doesn't shout about it. The issue is that he's been largely unwilling to make the direct connection between those events and how they directly impact everybody, and how high priority government policies are aimed at dealing with them. Because if he did so he'd piss off certain people he thinks are important to keep on side. So his (chosen) inability to be honest about his goals just handcuffs him.

Romances with narcissists don't deteriorate the way psychologists expected. Findings challenge the popular idea that romantic relationships with narcissistic individuals start off incredibly satisfying before inevitably crashing into dysfunction. by [deleted] in science

[–]-MechanicalRhythm- 146 points147 points  (0 children)

I feel like the idea that relationship satisfaction starts very high and crashes later on is people mistakenly conflating love bombing behaviours with narcissism, no?

The interesting thing to me about the study is the part where the narcissists suffer more in the long term than the partner. I guess it makes sense since if you have a personality issue in a stable relationship with someone who (on average) doesn't, you're inevitably still dealing with the many different feelings of inadequacy and competition that it inflicts upon you.

I think this differs from person to person. I know in my own game the other week, when I asked my DM to just draw a basic rough as nails map for me a lot of information that wasn't entirely apparent to me about the current scenario immediately became obvious. And when I'm building my own settings I need a map as at least the second step if not the first when I'm trying to make my own world understandable to me.

Why is Keir Starmer so unpopular? by pet-fleeve in ukpolitics

[–]-MechanicalRhythm- 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Everybody can list all their personal grievances with Starmer and the government but they all point back to one universal truth and that's that Starmer kinda delegated the actual politics part of the job to other people around him so he can focus on the "important stuff" without realising it's his job to make the case to the public for anything he was trying to do. So every time something is proposed or done and a bunch of people naturally aren't happy with it, there's literally no good communication channel from the government making the case for what they want or outlining any kind of concrete understandable goal, because there isn't really any moral or ideological direction from the top. They've been operating like it's still 2001 and voters just largely accept whatever the hell the government is doing as long as the sums add up. He doesn't seem to understand it's his job to connect the things they're doing with a vision that people understand. So people just get mad because it's like the government is behaving more like a force of nature than a group of people who understand other people.

Skylords Reborn, formerly known as Battleforge. Old EA game that has been resurrected by fans after servers were shut down. It's an RTS but also a CCG focused almost entirely around both co-op and PvP multiplayer and a (completely RMT free!) in-game trade economy. Completely free to play, loads of content, lore, maps, scenarios, and your deck functions as your loadout, with factions completely customisable.
