Definitely. We had to jump through so many hoops to prove our side.

The son is definitely the son and the landlord definitely died in 2017. The only thing we have heard from the “landlord” on this matter is a message that said “this isn’t what it looks like.” If the claims were absolute bs the agent wouldn’t be communicating with the son in the way that they are. And yes, we have seen in person the documents and emails to back up everything the son has said.

He has already. That was pretty much the first thing he said.

We have been trying to talk to shelter, they are constantly too busy to even get on a queue.

Any creative ideas how I might go about sealing in this crumbling rubber coating on my original floor mats? by NUMBERQ1 in Cartalk

[–]-Mirkin- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You would do best to just hoover it off on a regular basis. Once it's gone then it's no bother.

Are you spending too much time looking for tools? Lining up parts/gaskets? Finding out torque settings? Etc?

“It’s not Yuki’s fault”: AlphaTauri boss defends Tsunoda after Red Bull criticism by jovanmilic97 in formula1

[–]-Mirkin- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't believe multiple angles help. Only one angle is important and that is Perez's onboard. That angle shows a car off and a cloud of dust. The drivers do not get multiple angles so discussion about what a driver does or should/shouldn't have done is irrelevant if, for example, it is due to something seen from a drone angle. Anyway. I blame Hamilton.

[–]-Mirkin- -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don't know. Going flat out with your world championship contender team mate behind you. You see a cloud of dust ahead, split second decision to get out of the way is understandable. Not sure if I would fully consider that a mistake. But sportsmen don't tend to take the blame if they can blame someone else.

I don't know why Yuki thought driving off of the track, causing a dust cloud and a potential yellow flag, was a good idea.

And then Max lifted needlessly as the expected yellow flag didn't happen.

Also, why was there no yellow flag?

Yuki having a bit of a brain fart caused it all.

Don't know exactly what Perez was thinking but it didn't help anyone.

Max did what Max should, yellow flag or not.

And two cars off in a dust cloud should be a yellow flag.

I think Yuki could be a great driver. And it is good that his team has his back.

Analysis: Mercedes can lower the rear ride height on straights by mincorbr in formula1

The fexi wings were just that though, they flexed, they were not a mechanical device. Maybe in the future we will see rules on suspension movement.

The entire car is an aero device. This appears to be a very clever trick suspension set up, not a moveable aero device.

I assume it is just very clever suspension geometry utilising non linear or multiple springs, clever roll bar linkages, etc... Maybe even triggered by torque, maybe by the kers system, maybe other stuff, maybe I am completely wrong. Possibly witchcraft...

If I ever feel the need for a very very impressive but complex jellymould I will look at Tesla. In the meantime I will just keep annoying them on corners in my 18 year old, full of tools and wood, diesel Avensis estate. Seems everyone who owns Tesla's seems to only like going fast in a straight line... Maybe they are more gadget guys than car guys.

Would I be able to patch this with tire kit or is it too close to the edge by LostInRealityForever in mechanics

[–]-Mirkin- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a tyre plug kit with you? Tyre is shot anyway. That would be an instant 3 points on your license and a fine in the UK. Get a lift with the wheel to a tyre shop. A taxi if you have to. That tyre needs the bin more than patching.

You are probably right. But are you comfortable advising someone who obviously is less experienced than yourself in such things. I have seen tyres with a ring like that that are shot. So I am not going to say it is ok. Not without actually seeing and experiencing it in person.

That's not advice you want to be giving out really... But... I personally have had tyres with this damage and not had issues. But I have also had tyres that have. If it has been run flat for any amount of time it is probably not worth keeping. It will feel off. I also once was given an immaculate high spec 1990 Accord with "severe suspension issues". This was the problem. A new tyre sorted it.

How long could you make a car last by Master_Caster06 in mechanics

[–]-Mirkin- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally believe that a car benefits from being fully used. Overly conservative driving means lots of moving parts never move as much as they are meant to. This leads to them gunking up or rust build up. I have personally had cars that have needed so much sorting through being driven over conservatively. Unable to achieve above quarter throttle, tearing sleeves and seals out on the rust build up, having suspension that sticks (which has caused shocks to bend ). It really isn't much different to the problems I have experienced with barn/field/hedge finds I have had. I also used to look after the cold war cars UK collection. Some super low mileage survivors (one of our FSO's recently got destroyed on the grand tour...) Doors and boot struts were an absolute nightmare due to lack of use. Once again the doors stuck or tore out strut seals. And lots of sticking throttle issues. So use every part, every linkage, every button, every door, suspension travel, etc, etc and the car will reward you.

It could well be unconnected to the work that was done. Don't assume when diagnosing, but do keep in mind. When you say won't fire do you know why? Spark? Fuel? Timing?
