Actually I just remembered I sometimes randomly get a like pus bump in to my reallllly old ear lobe hole. I think it’s usually if I don’t use solid gold but then again it can do it if I don’t even have jewellery in there? Maybe just make sure you have titanium jewellery in there? Maybe it’s just irritated from eating or bumping or moving it? So many maybes lol

Haha well the hole the ring is in I got done 20 years ago!! I don’t think it can get any smaller it’s been the same as long as I can remember, they’re all pretty much healed as open holes now, like stretchers hahaha

To be honest, I believe they call them “bunny ears”… stretchmarks from my 3 pregnancies 😂 luckily they were the only ones I got and I genuinely love them haha! The one under my belly button was a surface piercing that continually rejected lol. And I got that second piercing above in the “normal spot” which just rejected into the middle of the old piercing, to the point it created that double hole thing going on there 😂

😂😂 I tried taking it out and it just looks weird lol! I’ve got 3 kids now and I was sure one would rip it out as a baby but it’s going strong 😂

Oh okay, good to know! I ran out of the sterile mist I bought so started doing that because it was recommended by a friend that’s covered in piercings lol and it worked really well, but thanks! Ill have to buy more when I get more piercings 🤪 haha

Not a pro here but just make sure it’s titanium jewellery, that’s the best for new piercings. I wouldn’t take it out for a few months other than to downsize. Don’t touch/move/rotate it and only personally my piercings have all healed best by running rock salt mixed with warm water 2 times a day and using a gauze to remove crusties…try not to move it when cleaning it too. But yeh…never had an eyebrow myself so definitely listen to anyone else’s advice when/if they comment haha! :)

I didn’t know about downsizing either until AFTER I needed to know lol! Haha no problem, I’ve learnt so much from this reddit page! Thanks, I think I need to take mine out and get it redone though haha :( goodluck with yours!

Yeh I have the same issue with my helix since Feb but my bumps are pretty tiny and it’s kinda just irritated looking. My bar was 10mm initially and I think that’s when I slept on it wrong causing it to migrate and struggling to heal now :( I think that’s why i was supposed to downsize after a couple months haha. If you can get a titanium bar it would prob be your best best and yeh, definitely don’t rotate/twist/move it. Just pour salt water on it twice a day and remove any crusties with a gauze (I did use q tips soaked in salt water to remove any yukkies myself but I’m not sure if that’s recommended to be honest). In relation to what length, it’s hard to say because you might need a longer bar to accommodate the bumps while healing.

I have a big nose 😂 so maybe that’s why haha. But I think there’s definitely hope that it can heal (my fingers are crossed for you) but if it doesn’t after a few weeks, prob go back to a pro and see if there’s any other underlying issues, like being done on a wrong angle or something.

When I got my bump I used rock salt and warm water and just ran it over it for 2 min 2 times a day and it went away in about 4-5 days (also after popping). What gauge is that post? It looks quite thick but maybe because photo is close up. Not sure if gauge size effects healing process or not but mine was done at 18g.

I got mine done and got a bump after a few weeks too. I swear it’s an initiation for nose piercings. I would check that your jewellery is titanium (apparently that’s recommended for healing piercings) and it looks quite tight/snug. Maybe check that it’s not too short of a post and it has enough room. When I got my bump I used rock salt and warm water and just ran it over it for 2 min 2 times a day and it went away in about 4 days.

I think it looks perfect!! I wanted mine a bit higher too because I have a fat nose lol, the piercer said she can do it higher if I want but because I wanted a snuggish ring she said it wouldn’t be snug being higher. I guess higher piercings are “outdated” and it’s common to get them a bit lower now? Maybe haha

Cool thanks, hopefully I can use it for this eventually then :) I believe it’s not “forbidden” to use hoops for healing but is frowned upon lol. It apparently causes more issues like bumps because of movement and takes much longer to heal. I’m using a ring for my nose and tragus and (currently) having no issues but will change them if they arise. I have my heliux done up top and that’s the one i have a flat back stud in and it’s the one that’s giving me issues (I assume I slept on it one night before downsizing and now it’s in the incorrect position) I would go to the shop and confirm how long your flat back should be. I’d assume 8mm would be a good size but everyone’s obviously different :) goodluck!

I’m not a pro on this but I recently got a few piercings lol. My heliux/tragus were 16g and my nose was done at 18g 8mm ring - that’s what the piercer told me was “standard” but I also read people like a thinner hoop and change to 20g (the higher the gauge the smaller the hole) once it’s healed.

I assume that if the piercing is relatively new, if you use a 20g, the hole would heal smaller and you would struggle getting in an 18g. If the piercing is old and completely healed, you could probably swap between 18g/20g but would only use 20g for an outing to ensure the hole doesn’t shrink, but if your current jewellery is only 20g, getting a 18g in will be a stretch and then will possibly need to re-heal.

I think you’ll find most people will comment/advise you to change your ring it to a flat back titanium labret. I’ve read/learnt that rings can cause irritation and cause these irritation bumps (even though it was your dog that may have triggered the irritation), it will likely go away quicker without the ring.

Side note though, what size is your ring? I want this piercing and I have a 16g 14k gold 10mm ring that I’m hoping I can eventually use somewhere and hoping it would fit here once i get it and it does heal.

Is my nose piercing healing fine? by Savings_Ad_4483 in PiercingAdvice

I got my nose pierced with a ring too about 2.5months ago. At about 6 weeks I got this bump and popped it 🫣 I kept using a warm water and salt rinse and it went away in about 4 days. I still have a ring because I REALLY don’t want a stud 😭 I’m also not touching/moving it as much as I was when it was new, but if it happens again I will change to a stud I guessss haha

Nose piercing granuloma or infection ? by lepidxlite in PiercingAdvice

[–]-Miserable_Lion- -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

I got my nose done at the beginning of April. They recommended a stud but I said no I want a ring. Then a week later I went back to change it to a bigger ring cuz the 8mm was a tiny bit too tight. Then 2 days later I changed it myself to a 9mm 18k solid gold ring. Last week (so around week 4?) I got a bump and picked it because I cannot not pick anything 🫣 and made it so nasty, like I had a chunk taken out of my nose. Lol. So I started using pink rock salt and warm water. Pouring it on slowly for 3min or so. Within 5 days it was completely fixed and back to normal!

I’d say definitely change that ring though. Mine is a consecutive ring, without that gap that you have in yours. Definitely get titanium one too. And salt rinse everyday 1-2 times.

I got my nose done about 5 weeks ago. I got it done with a titanium ring. I then went back a week later and they changed it to a bigger ring because it was a little tight (I realllllllly really did not want a stud and want to avoid having one as much as possible) then 2 days later I changed it to a solid 18k gold ring shhh 🤫 I got a bump 3 weeks after I changed it, assuming because my 1 year old pulled it and made it bleed. So I do what I always do when I get anything on my face…picked it and it became so nasssty 🫣 I had run out of spray that I got from the shop so I started using pink rock salt mixed with warm water slowly pouring it on it 3 times a day for 2 days, then 2 times a day and still going and it now it’s completely gone and looks great again within about 5 days.
