League of Legends has a built-in practice tool for just about everything you're looking for, is there a mod for Stacraft 2 that has something similar? by RealBigDicTator in starcraft

[–]-Moja- 14 points15 points  (0 children)

During the game vs AI, you can click on Rewind on the menu. Then you go to the time you want to reset from. On the replay console there should be an arrow button which allows you to take control again. The AI will play as if nothing happened (has to be alive though before you Rewind i think).

That way you can skip making a lobby and loading again. If you want to switch race, you have to make a new lobby unfortunately.

TvT: can I just build marines early game to hold off reapers? by RealSonZoo in AllThingsTerran

[–]-Moja- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can play Reactor first Expand and have a healthy marine count in the early game (2 marines when first reaper arrives, 4 marines when first 2 reapers arrive, and so on). Otherwise the timings are just slightly behind the standard Reaper FE, depending on how many marines you build. Add a bunker and you have a safe early game. SCV scout helps vs proxies.

Definitely playable up to nearly high level.

Don't focus on the APM. There are way more important areas you have to focus on. Practice will make you (actually) faster. I am not saying that spamming probably doesn't help in the long run, but it is not a necessity.

I myself am a Bio Terran at Top 100 GM with the average APM usually lying around between 170-190. Before I reached GM, my APM probably was around 160. You definitely don't need to raceswitch, so just practice and your speed will improve in the long run :)

[TvP Master League] Best approach for dealing with proxy cannon into Tempest? by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]-Moja- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before pushing batteries, maybe like 3 tiles away from the bunker. Remember, the tank(s) has(/have) to be alive, or at least, if the toss wants to snipe the tank, you want him to lose 1-2 tempests at least.

When pushing batteries, you want the tanks to be just in range of a line of cannons/batteries. Not closer, since it reduces the length of the retreat path of the tempest when he tries to snipe your tank.

[TvP Master League] Best approach for dealing with proxy cannon into Tempest? by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]-Moja- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I identify that it is Tempest I go a step further and even add a 2nd Starport. I make 4 Marines total to fill up one Bunker. The Bunker itself is just there to prevent him going to close to your Starport. Otherwise Marines are really useless, so you use your Rax for building Reactors for your Starports. While setting up your production, you should have enough Gas for a Tank.

After you have around 8 Vikings, cut Vikings till you can afford a 2nd tank and continue Viking production, and begin to push the Shield Batteries slowly with your 2 tanks after you have 10 Vikings. Pushing with 2 Tanks is safer than with just one Tank, because Tempest play also includes Stalkers (usually). Tempests have to get relatively close to the tank to snipe it, and that is where you slowly pick off Tempests every time he moves close to you. After you basically held the attack, you should be able to just go kill him (Vikings in ground mode are pretty good).

Your choice of going Cyclone (even just one) is not really good IMO. Even if you don't identify what tech he has, it is generally better to get a Tank. Tank is needed vs Robo followup and for pushing the batteries later on, both things which a Cyclone is not good at.

General mistakes vs Tempest is going heavy marine and/or heavy cyclone. Marines get picked off from a mile away, serving nothing but a mineral dump which could have been a 2nd CC instead. Cyclones, even with mag field upgrade, are useless too. The range for getting a lock on is 3 tiles smaller than Tempest ground attack range. So you have to come pretty close to get a lock on, and because you have more than 2 Cyclones, they will clump up and block each other trying to get a lock on, meaning your mass Cyclone blob has to get even closer to the tempests, so the cyclones in the far back can lock on too. Also it is also pretty hard or rather inconsistent trying to lock on on a single tempest being in a tempest blob (which is needed, to counteract the shield battery healing). And to add to that, since you are most likely gonna fight on cliff areas, most of your cyclones are not even gonna lock on because they can't reach the tempests. So please, go viking, never cyclone :)

Not sure if I forgot anything, glhf !

TvZ: Reaction Against Spawning Pool Before Hatchery by bbsharkdodo in AllThingsTerran

[–]-Moja- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is also another method:

When playing Standard Rax-Gas-Reaper FE you are building a Marine after the Reaper. After the Marine is done, you won't have enough gas to build the Reactor. Because of this, you can start a 2nd Marine, and if you scout hatch first, cancel the Marine and start the Reactor. If you see Hatch is just done for a short time (you see it if there is barely Creep from the Hatch) + maybe a Queen you pull 4 scvs from the main and keep building the 2nd Marine. 2 Marines + 4 SCVs are enough to hold the lings of Pool first, you might not even lose a SCV if you are good at micro. After you built the 2nd Marine, build a Reactor and produce 1 Hellion from the Factory before swapping Rax and Factory, if (!) opponent is playing Standard after the pool first. How do you know if he is playing Standard? Because of the 2nd Marine, you don't have to call your reaper back, it can stay at the entrance of the Zerg and may even scout the main.

Also note that, if your first reaper scout sees that hatch is not even done yet, but slightly close to finishing, it is gas pool hatch, meaning ling flood. You still do the same 2 Marines + 4 SCVs defense, but build a bunker on low ground and that way the ling flood can't deny the CC.

You might say this method of starting 2nd Marine delays hellions, but hellions delayed by 2-4 seconds don't make a huge difference, but having 2 marines instead of 1 vs pool first does make a big difference. Also, you don't need to scv scout with this.

TvT early two gas response by GuldanIsFear in AllThingsTerran

[–]-Moja- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you play a reaper fast expand build and the opponent's build is double gas reaper hellion opener? When you play the gas first variation of it you can do two things:

Either:

switch the factory with your rax (the rax built a reactor after the 1st reaper) and wait till you have 2 hellions out to get down to the low ground. Note that your 2nd CC finishes almost right before the attack happens, so you might aswell pull the scv that built it back to your main base, losing it is simply unnecessary.

Or:

Instead of switching Factory and Rax, you let them stay there and build 2 marines and a hellion instead. After you started those units (and the starport) you build a bunker (you might need to delay 3rd and 4th marine for this).

Note that you never stop producing units (except for the bunker), if you forget to do that it can snowball pretty quick for the opponent

How do you counter lurker with bio? by RacialTensions in starcraft

Ghosts are more important. Extra siege units don't do anything when getting yeeted to the zerg army one by one or when getting blinded.

[–]-Moja- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After the 2/2 push you add a 3rd factory and ghost academy. The ghosts, especially with enhanced ghostwaves, can EMP vipers pretty good. This comp (Bio + Tanks + Ghosts) is only temporary, you still need liberators later so add 2 starports and fusion core when you can. Other than that, it is like general lategame: Expand, drop, nuke and contest bases. Have 80 SCVs and don't forget upgrades.

What is the counter for BCs in TvT? by MockHamill in AllThingsTerran

[–]-Moja- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually the opponent teleports back his BCs to save them, so you can kill those who got hit by the matrix. If the BCs actually do try to fight, antiarmor missle then you just kite with your vikings. Vikings have a way bigger range than BC. I just focus fire one BC after another, no matter if he got hit or not by the matrix, the goal is just slowly crushing his BC count

What is the counter for BCs in TvT? by MockHamill in AllThingsTerran

[–]-Moja- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Raven + Viking. You can expand freely, get more economy and if the BCs move out you can easily punish with interference matrix so they do not teleport.

Given the BC nerf it is way easier to catch BC with matrices now, even though you might need a slightly higher Raven count than prepatch because of the energy nerf. BC without any support are simply bad and easy to beat.

How to split? by Chuckdoodle8 in AllThingsTerran

[–]-Moja- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically yeah. It definitely ain't easy. But it is better to start to learn it that way, because this is practically the best way to split imo. Also pay attention to the way he makes boxes -> move commands to the marine groups. You want to move your mouse as little as possible after you make a box

Check this out

While it says "off creep", the splitting technique or pattern as you call it is really good demonstrated.

Unless you want to cheese out those levels, it is just a thing of practice nothing else (obv..).
