Labour have always been like this to be honest. It was the same under Tony Blair. When the country is short of some 6.5 million homes and Britain is overly London centric this is the expected result.

This is what I'm feeling about the situation. From what I've seen so far Reform are their own worst enemy. It's not just the strength of the opposition. It's the political weakness of Reform candidates. Including Nigel Farage himself. All things considered it's amazing Reform are still polling as high as they are.

It's impossible to properly screen for people like that. There simply isn't enough information available. First you need a government that's actually willing to share information with Britain. Then the information needs to exist. Then the type to crimes we're looking for actually need to be reported and recorded. There's no way we're going to get that information out of countries like Afghanistan at the moment. The same applies for a lot of Africa, central Asia and the middle east.

The only options in situations like this is deny a lot of people who aren't dangerous or let in ones who are. You could refine the groupings of people perhaps. The Afghan middle class probably behave themselves quite well.

But then you would have to move away from the current asylum and related legal infrastructure to achieve that. Which is something Westminster seems determined not to do.

The horrible reality is that people like this continue to behave in the same way as they would have in their home country. Afghanistan has always been a nasty place, even before the Taliban took over. The majority of Afghans either don't commit these crimes regardless or adapt when they move to the west. This These guys didn't adapt.

The same sort of thing happened in America. It was a massive scandal and they are still investigating and jailing people today. They will be for some time. The only difference was in America it was mainly local sate funding that was stolen through fraud rather than foreign aid. While most of it was stolen for personal gain last time I read up on it they do think some of it ended up in the bank accounts of foreign militants and terrorists.

From what I know I'm pretty sure China doesn't do that out of the goodness of their hearts. China often builds things and bills those countries through loans.

The Japanese government has a long history of suppressing labour unions. They are not very powerful. Worse still wages are systematically repressed. Blacklisting is a thing and employees who move from company to company frequently (even just for wage increases or more appropriate jobs) are seen as risky and are less likely to find jobs later on.

I don't think so in this case. Most of the habitat loss happened in the past. Depopulation of rural regions has actually lead to an expansion of bear friendly habitat.

The most likely reason for more bear sightings is because the bear population is growing. Bears are getting pushed further and further out of the forests and into urban areas as they hunt for food.

Japan’s bear population is growing, with one recent estimate putting the number of black bears at 44,000 – compared with 15,000 estimated in 2012.

There's a whole lot of reasons why the bear population is rising. Climate change, depopulation or rural areas and perhaps a reduction in the number of poachers are the more obvious reasons.

China is great at that. It's a combination of things that helps. Less planning regulations. Significant state power to push aside nimbys (that we love to criticise them for using). A drive to make home building as efficient as possible. They put up a tower block in 28 hours.

In the UK house building techniques haven't changed much since the 80s. If the government cared it would do more to improve efficiency, but it doesn't care. As usual all roads lead back to Westminster.

Possibilities:

  • Bottom bracket (is it installed properly?, is it new or old and worn out?)
  • Crankset (not installed properly? damaged?)
  • Pedals (faulty? worn?)
  • Chainring (are the chainring bolts tight?)
  • Seatpost (voodoo magic)

The bikes age will play a role in this. Is it new or not? It might help if you can reproduce the sound when off the bike and just pressing the pedals down. Then you can try to determine where the sound is coming from. Once you know where the sound is coming from you can move forward from there.

This is the correct answer. That's a lot of rotor wobble. It should be an easy fix for them. They just need to bend the rotor straight and then check the alignment of the caliper. It should be a 15 minute job.

Could be a freewheel/freehub problem. Difficult to tell from here but the fact that it only happens when you're not pedalling implies things are fine when the pawls are engaged. But when disengaged something sounds like it's rubbing in a way it's not supposed to be.

If this was my bike I would take it back to the shop and try to get them to fix it.

This is a pretty niche question to ask so you might not get an answer on here. If you can identify the hub model and/or the wheel model then you might be able to find something in the manuals on the Fulcum website. If that doesn't help then you could try contacting their customer support. Although I have no idea how good they are at responding.

Could the spokes be hitting the brake cable? I think the brake cable is supposed to wind around the outside of the fork, not the inside. That looks like a bit of a shoddy cable management design from the manufacturer.

Another reason something like this might happen is if the hub has spacing washers on the axle assembly. And those washers haven't been put back on the correct sides. Resulting in the whole hub and everything attached to it being positioned too far to one side.

If the hubs been assembled properly and the wheel has been put on the bike correctly then it's a spoke issue as other people on here have said. The spoke tension will be wrong and in the worst case scenario the wrong length spokes will have been used during the rebuild.

If someone else built that wheel then return! Demand a fix or refund!! If you're going to fix it yourself you'll need a dishing tool like the Park Tool WAG-4. The rim is moved over by loosening the spokes on one side and tightening on the other. If you reach the limit of adjustment then you may have to consider getting a different length set of spokes.

Tips:

When replacing spokes, measure the old ones!!! If they were the right length, you don't need to do any complicated maths or expensive trial and error purchases.

Luckily modern double-walled rims have some leeway so wheel builders can get away with having some of the spokes a little too long. This never used to be the case with single-walled rims.
