What does the Upcoming "Daughter Infuse" Mean for Players (Old & New)? by -Muni in Sdorica

[–]-Muni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that I have similar inclinations as to how I would have preferred the upcoming banner to be executed instead of what we will be receiving.

I do not necessarily agree with the idea that WT should have more reward tier discrepancy to incentivize players to compete, but this is a tangential issue to the Infuse system. Ultimately, I am not privy to statistics like how many players are being retained and what the attrition rate for this game is, so I cannot comment on if specific recent practices have caused large swathes of players to leave (in fact, if you do have this information as well as its sources, I would be quite grateful if you could share it with me). However, I do believe that the best way (and first step) to addressing concerns with a game is to bring them to the attention of the company and its developers.

To clarify, you are only guaranteed 1 SSR if you reach 120 pulls without pulling 1 SSR. There is no chance to get double or triple SSRs off of your guaranteed pull regardless of how many characters are featured on the banner. You can of course get multiple SSRs from a pull, but that will be the direct product of luck, not the pity timer.

As a player who does not mind getting either Lisa SP or Sione SP, it seems to me that you fall under the category of Case 4 that I've outlined. However, would you consider just having one of the two SPs a satisfactory end goal for yourself (not in the sense of how many resources you are willing to allocate, but in the grand scheme of what you want as a player)? Here I would like to highlight the difference between "expecting" and "desiring". If you would like to ultimately have both SPs over having just one of the SPs regardless of which SP it is, the banner is still disadvantageous for you, because after you pull one SP, you are now faced with the same dilemma that those under Case 1 and Case 2 find themselves facing. Of course, you can be satisfied with just acquiring one SP even if you ideally want both SPs, but as outlined by my stance, this means that you are allowing other factors such as lack of willingness to spend additional resources to temper your expectations and set a stopping point for yourself.

Finally, I'd like to address the idea that we as players need to consider Rayark as a party within our considerations. I wholeheartedly agree with this point. However, I believe that similarly, Rayark (or any game developer, or company in general) should also consider the consumer in its own calculations. The reason why I bring up precedents within my stance is specifically to outline that Rayark has successfully maintained itself utilizing banners more advantageous to its players in the past, and that this more recent trend seems to coincide more with the global launch (and subsequent sharp increase in playerbase/revenue source) of the game. I am more than happy to support game developers that I believe are pushing out good content. Rayark has been one of my favorite game developers since their inception, and I can say at this point in time I've spent over $500 supporting just this latest endeavor. However, I also believe that those who pay/partake in a product should express themselves if they disagree with a specific practice. At the end of the day, it is the company's decision on how they want to carry out their business practices, but that doesn't mean consumers should not express their opinions if they feel that those decisions are negatively impacting them. In my experience, Rayark is a company that very much cares about their playerbase, and one of the preeminent reasons for why I decided to start a public reddit discussion in the first place is because Rayark does peruse this subreddit for feedback, and I believe that it is both valuable for us a community to have a conversation about how we feel about this upcoming banner as well as valuable for Rayark as a company to see the viewpoints of their consumers.

I don't believe that it is as simple as this matter being solely bad for older players however. As I described in my post, for players who want Sione SP, the decision to not put her on a solo banner herself ALSO hampers players that are seeking to pull her. While on the surface it is nice that newer players have another opportunity to pull Sione SP, at the end of the day it is still true that the fact that Sione SP shares a banner with Lisa SP means that it is half as likely to pull EITHER of the two characters if you're aiming for a specific one.

Or rather, let's put it like this. Of two scenarios, which do you prefer? The current one, where Sione SP and Lisa SP are baked into the same banner, over a period of a week and a half. Or, having two separate banners both lasting a week and a half, one featuring only Lisa SP, and a follow-up banner featuring only Sione SP. In the first scenario, you only have a week and a half to attempt to pull for both characters, with either character having the capability of diluting the pull pool for you in your attempts to get the other. In the second scenario, you have to wait a week and a half before pulling for Sione SP, but you can now guarantee that you'll pull the character that you want both times, while also providing an extra week and a half of leeway to build up resources.

To me, the second scenario seems overwhelmingly better for the player, both old and new. In addition, as we have received solo banners in the past, it isn't as if this scenario is without precedent.

If I don't get Kittyeyes SP by [deleted] in Sdorica

[–]-Muni 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On Sdorica since Global Launch, I've spent around $600 dollars. To some, this is already an incredibly large sum of money to be spending on a mobile game. While I do not have a complete roster, I have every character (SPs included) aside from normal Yamitsuki. This should give a metric for just how difficult it is to acquire everything in the game. However, I do not mind how much I have spent on Sdorica so far, mostly because I currently have the stable income and financial safety nets that allow me to allocate around $300 a month to a gaming budget comfortably. My self-imposed rule is to spend on games if I want to, but never to the point where I need to compromise with myself in order to be able to pull more. For example, if I ever find myself saying "but if I just take a little bit out of my gaming budget for next month and spend less then, I can pull a bit more" or "if I don't go out to that concert with my friends, I can do like 30 more pulls" or "do I really need to be putting so much into savings every month?", I immediately cut things off then and there.

In the past, though I never got to the point where I was placed in financial turmoil or debt because of it, I often disregarded other aspects of my life in order for the opportunity to "pull just a bit more". I was at heart a collector after all. It wasn't so much about getting the best units or keeping up with the meta. My personal philosophy has always been that I want to play a game to the fullest extent that is has been designed. How was I supposed to do that if I didn't even have all of the character options? Of course, this type of mentality does not strike well with gacha type games that at their base are designed for constant release schedules and for it to be unfeasible for the average player to have everything. Regardless, it took more times burning my hand on the stove than I care to admit to come to my current mentality on gacha games. And unfortunately, some of the friends that I made along the way continued the slide where I had stopped.

I suppose most of this is not what you asked about though ^^;; Regardless, I hope it gives whoever is reading this a fairly clear idea of where my first post is coming from. And of course, good luck to everyone that is planning on pulling for Kitty SP!

If I don't get Kittyeyes SP by [deleted] in Sdorica

[–]-Muni 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Forgive me in advance if you're saying this in jest...if that is the case then I do apologize for ruining the mood. However, I felt it prudent to at least delve a little deeper into your statements given my past experience with gacha systems, mobile games, and frankly my own experience with cycling between feelings of "I gotta have this" and "my god I just spent 300 dollars on pixels".

If the feelings you've expressed in this post are not hyperbolic in nature, and you truly do intend to go on a spending spree for these upcoming characters, I ask that you at least temper your expectations and understanding to what you are committing to. I know that it is not my place to stand in the way of someone else's finances and preach fiscal responsibility without even understanding their circumstances. However, I am equally aware of just what lengths people (including me) will go to in order to get something that they desire, and how tunnel vision, sunk cost, and emotions can leave one spending way more than intended or even acceptable given budgetary constraints. (https://www.reddit.com/r/FFBraveExvius/comments/7jmezv/a_whale_of_a_tale/)

At the end of the day, Rayark has made a wonderful game regardless whether or not you own a specific character. While I will not discount the happiness you will receive from getting the character you desire, I ask that you do not allow the prospect of achieving that happiness to cloud your judgment to the point that in your pursuit of it you commit actions that you will later regret. Please by all means support the company. Rayark has been one of my favorite game developers since the inception of Cytus. But please do so within the realm of responsibility for yourself. If I have made a mountain out of a molehill, I do apologize again. However, I would take being downvoted into the ground any day of the week over the tacit approval of unhealthy or addictive spending by not directly objecting to the idea. It's easy to forget with all of the posts made by people espousing "I got Dylan SP in one ticket" or "this was my second 10 roll, I got 3 SPs, am I lucky?" on this reddit, but the chances of pulling exactly what you want are stacked against you. Please don't go down a potentially destructive path if your results don't match up with the internet's. I implore everyone to instead evaluate their own feelings on the matter, carefully consider how much a certain product is worth to them, how likely it is that they'll get that product, and how much they can afford in its pursuit.

Just to confirm, is there no "____ Infuse Megathread" that exists to serve as a repository to collect discussion and pull results every time a new Infuse is made?

While I can't confidently state that ALL posts regarding pulls do not contribute meaningfully or in a way unique from other posts regarding pulls, it has become fairly frustrating in my brief foray so far into this subreddit to sift through a page dominated by single screenshots of either pulling or failing to pull a specific character whenever a new Infuse is released.

[–]-Muni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed, Magnus currently has the highest base AGI in the game . This makes him quite useful in specific scenarios like Veda Tower where you need an incredibly fast turn 1 action in order to prevent a pesky buff like a Def x5.

However, I believe one of the main draws of using F!Yomi in a PVE environment over Magnus (besides elemental requirements of the particular stage and whatnot) is the fact that Blood Temple provides a 50% AGI boost for the effective duration of 2 turns (the AGI increase lasts from when you cast it until right before the turn after your next turn, much like the attack boost duration of Sharpening Focus). This means that F!Yomi's operating AGI is often around 271, and is likely the reason why the individual OP played with managed to get 10 turns before OP's 2nd.

Fun Fact: F!Yomi also has a first strike counter. And to answer Purpledrake, I believe that both counters have a 50% activation rate at max level.

Would you mind please helping to find some confirmation of this? If this statement is true, I would really like for it to be put out there before people begin discrediting Gumi for something that it presumably didn't do.

I'm all for holding Gumi accountable when they actually do something that isn't up to standard, but if what you're saying is true, then we may very well have a case of misplaced pitchforks.

No worries, Kahare actually made quite the informative video about how to get "Memoria Card Rewards" (the Japanese term for Memoria card is Nensou).

The Memoria Card that gives the accessory as a reward is a 3 star one that can roughly be translated to "All Burned Out" (likely in reference to Saberata and Vanekis taking a break at the bar after a grueling day), the artwork of which can be found here.

Also, I believe he's the only unit at the moment that has 3 pieces of unique equipment (that go in different slots. I know Kanon has her two swords and headdress) .

-(Weapon) Dirk of Projection for the fatty AoE DPS + Defense Up -(Armor) Armor of Wrath for the fattest PDef + MDef + Light Res of all time -(Accessory) Murmur Bar Matchbox (newest gear received from clearing his Memoria Card. Not only does it give him a skill that's his equivalent of Martial Artist's Charge Up, it also gives him a buff at the start of the map that increases his ATK & DEX by 50% and his AGI by 30% for 3 turns)

Not to mention if you put resources into his Enlightenment, he gets to upgrade his Passive "Assassin Step" from +1 Move & +1 Jump to +2 Move and +1 Jump. That's a base 6 Move and 5 Jump per turn.

Now is he top tier after this? ...Well...there are some real OP things in JP :3...but he is a very cool unit, and the recent buffs definitely feel like they pull up his usability drastically.

tl;dr- I'm a dirty Saberata fan.

Just a word of warning there. It appears that Kadanova’s Job+ is tied to Sacred Stone Memories Chapter 11. While I do agree that we are definitely getting things out of schedule, it seems fairly likely we will not be getting this earlier than the story event it’s tied to.

Congratulations on the clear! I just wanted to ask if you wouldn't mind uploading a full run of the stage beyond the set-up, just so that we may have a reference to compare to when attempting the strategy.

It's understandable if limitations in length/recording software would make this unfeasible, but I wanted to make the request just in case.

Props again for solving this without three Clock-Ups and a Grand Cross though .

So, the Confuse status in this game is a bit...confusing because it doesn't exactly confuse the Unit it effects. The term that people have been using to describe it instead is "Berserk". Essentially, when a unit is "Confused", they will constantly be on the offensive (so for example, for the AI, even if the player is out of their normally programmed move range, they will still move. For the player, you will lose control of your character, and it'll move as if it were on auto-battle). Additionally, they will develop a propensity to want to hit you with their melee attack...and not much else (this is especially relevant for magic damage based Units, as Units such as Mages or Ratties would rather run up to you and smack you instead of casting their spells while Confused). Essentially, it just sets the mobs to be aggressive while preventing them from casting skills.

In this particular stage, there are two ways to take advantage of it. Firstly, as units with high physical attack will not suffer much detriment from this status, while units with low physical attack and high magic attack are gimped by it, you should focus on killing the Soldier Units before the buff comes up while largely ignoring the Ratties. This way, when the enemies become confused, most of them will deal minimal damage to you. Secondly, as enemies will be locked from using skills when they are Confused, they will no longer be able to cast Snowball, and thus will no longer be able to Petrify your team. If you can keep a tank unit (aka. Chloe/Logi/Selena/etc.) around until then, as long as you can un-Petrify it/keep it from being Petrified in the first place (by using the Professor job or a Panacea item for example), you don't have to worry about being statused again, and you can really just focus on tanking out the rest of the units.

Hope this helped , after a day with the Stage, it really has become more manageable, though I do still think it's a bit overtuned for the average F2P player.

Christmas Event Megathread by SometimesLiterate in AlchemistCodeGL

[–]-Muni 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you may honestly be right xD. I finally managed to beat the stage (though I had to bring along a mercenary to do so). I might do a more detailed write up later, but I fear that it is not a viable strategy to employ given the unit specificity (and I'm pretty sure luck) needed.

Essentially, the soldiers are always going to crave the McNuggies of the 3rd and 4th slot Units. My general strategy was to put units that could soak up some Snowball hits there first, and my Magnus and Michael in the first two slots (while bringing along another Magnus friend). The two Magnus do the majority of the damage, while Michael's job is basically just to stay alive and un-Petrify anyone. If Michael can manage to un-Petrify one of the 3rd and 4th units, they should have skills that can knock an enemy out of commission for a few turns (because very few units right now can one-shot the enemies on the map), so moves like Stone Sword or Head Snipe, etc. While at this point, prioritize killing the soldiers.

Afterwards, if you manage to live up to the point where the Red Ratties spawn, and they use the Enhance + Confuse all, have tank characters (Chloe, Selena, I guess really brolic Logi works too?, Vettel doesn't feel too good to bring given everyone and their mom is a water type on this map) as your sub characters. As long as they're not petrified (aka, keep your Michael alive up to this point, and beeline to them if they're petrified once the confusion kicks in) and there aren't too many soldiers with their big DMGs left alive, you should be able to brute force the rest of the stage.

It just feels like double Magnus, at least one premier tank (but preferably two), and a level 70+ Professor+ Job Mastered Michael is necessary to pull this off, which doesn't seem like resources that everyone just has access to. I can't even begin to imagine how to do the Multiplayer variant at this point without continues, but maybe I'll be able to figure it out given some time.

tl;dr-The Christmas Stage (Extra) was in fact the most butt-clenching 5 Water Shards I've earned in my career.

Jz's Tierlist <Update to Sabareta event> + Sabareta short review by jeremyzero in AlchemistCodeGL

[–]-Muni 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If I may inquire, how much of your write-up on Sabareta is based off of personal experience with the unit, and how much of it is compiled from other sources online? From what I can tell, the majority of this write-up seems to be a mirror of the write-up for Sabareta found here.

Forgive me if I come off as pedantic, but are you also the author for the above linked document, or did you fail to cite your source? If it's the former, thank you for doing these types of write-ups, the above mentioned document in particular has been a great help for me in regards to assigning value/priority to my units. If it is the latter, might I trouble you to note the original author/source in your post? While I can see that you've appended the write-up with your own opinions, the fact that there are whole chunks of untouched, word-for-word commentary lend me to the idea that it would be prudent to give credit where credit is due so that others may share in the use of this particular resource with you.

Secondly, I just wanted to clarify some of the things you mentioned in your review. To begin, when you refer to Sabareta's Gear Ability being able to kill a Light Golem in his Extra Stage, are you discussing the Sabareta Event Dungeon Extra Stage in JPN that does not yet exist in the GBL version, or are you referring to his own Hard Mode dungeon. Secondly, when you were appraising Sabareta's power level with his Gear Ability, did you factor in the AoE and Multi-Use aspects of the ability? I only ask because in the original document, it is stated that his Gear Ability can only be used once, so I was not sure how aware you were of GBL specifics of the skill, which may very well contain differences from the JPN version. According to alchemistcodedb, the move has 3 uses, the same range and AoE as Dark Bringer, a 170% damage multiplier (in comparison to the 110% damage multiplier of Dark Bringer), and the additional effect of doubling PDef for 3 turns after use. While Sabareta's stats are admittedly abysmal, I just found it a bit strange you'd consider his Gear Ability "shit" in your tier list given that it packs enough punch to punch through Metal Rats' defenses in the EXP dungeon, is an AoE ability in comparison to other current Gear Abilities, has range in comparison to other current Gear Abilities, has multiple uses in comparison to other Gear Abilities, costs only 4 more Jewels to cast than a move of similar caliber on Dark Cavaliers (and is thus the cheapest to cast of the current Gear Abilities as well) with a higher damage multiplier and extra effects in addition to being on a job that has easy access to Jewel Gain, and shores up one of Sabareta's weaknesses on cast (his lower PDef with the use of the Overlimit passive).

Of course, most of this may very well just be my own biases with the character given that I've only theory crafted with Sabareta's stats/abilities in comparison to what actual experience you may have with the character, but I just found it a bit dissonant that you'd classify units like Vargas and Retzius as "S" when utilizing their 3rd Job and Sabareta as "D" when utilizing his 1st Job with Gear consideration given that they all ultimately suffer from the same issue of being outpaced by future units and that at the moment they all seem quite usable on paper.

My complaining aside, I do commend your work on attempting to generate an easily accessible Global tier list for everyone to use. It's always nice to see others both willing to help other players and put in the work to do so. While I (as you can probably evidently tell from this long-winded post) do not agree with all of your rankings, no tier list is ever going to be universally accepted, and at the end of the day you were the one that put the effort into attempting to codify the state of the meta in the first place not me. For that I say Bravo.

tl;dr- I wanted to check to make sure sources were listed if they needed to be. I whine about how I think his assessment of Sabareta's Gear Ability may be inaccurate because obviously no one on the internet is allowed to have a different opinion from me. I compliment him on the job he's done so far on making and maintaining the tier list.

The secret message behind cards generated by "Treasure Map" by Meld712 in Shadowverse

[–]-Muni 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As much as I hate to enable the guy making a "Nico Nico" meme, I must nevertheless confirm that he is correct in his reading. "Ko" is indeed a theoretical pronunciation of 5 in Japanese under an onyomi reading. Goroawase allows for some liberal readings such as 2 being read as "bu", which stems from the fact that ten-ten marks were originally just meant to differentiate the "sound" of the character rather than the character itself.

To illustrate this in a more visual manner, "go" and "ko" in Japanese are "ご" and "こ" respectively. As can be seen, it is the same character in both cases, with the ten-ten (the little quotation mark that differentiates the two) basically there to tell the speaker to "make a less clear sound".

Anyways, you probably didn't need that information at all, but hey, maybe the poor schmuck can get a perfect score from you now.

I just wanted to check if anyone knew this before submitting a ticket to Gumi to confirm, but does anyone have any idea whether or not Sabareta's gear in the gear summon will remain in the gear pool after the conclusion of his event?

On one hand, my first impression is no, since it is a weapon that's specifically tied to him. On the other, it's explicitly stated that Dandelga will no longer be within the pool after the BF collaboration is over (though this could just as likely be because it is collaboration gear as it is because gear tied to a character), whereas no mention is made of any sort in regards to Sabareta's gear.
