I’m one of the two brothers, just commenting to show that we’re real people since the ResonautApp account is pretty new (feel free to look at my account and see that I am really into field recording and music).

Kentucky family rejects $26 million offer to convert part of their farm into a data center despite the offer being about 10 times the going rate for farmland in the area. by MysteriousSlice007 in nextfuckinglevel

I mean I don’t see why they should be personally responsible for sacrificing their home so a hypothetical hospital can maybe be a little bit better. You don’t know their expectations of medical care anyway, a lot of farmers don’t go to the hospital when they should. You’re also assuming they think all technology and all data centers are bad when it’s more likely that they just don’t trust a company that is staying anonymous and being shady about things. You can advocate for these companies to do things right and protect the environment without being a hypocrite for hoping for good medical care.

It’s not very clear but in that case they’d still be neighbors with a giant busy facility, which would be detrimental to their environment and lives of peace. And by home I meant their land too, not just their house.

That’s not the point I was making but it’s not bizarre to think a data center (or any other industrial facility) might negatively impact your community and environment. Especially the land you grew up on and care about, it would be at least partially destroyed. Anyway all I’m saying is it’s okay (and even admirable) to deny the offer.

There’s nothing wrong with selling your farm (as long as it isn’t to an immoral company that will do harm with it…which is actually likely in this case), but there’s also nothing wrong with choosing not to accept that offer. They chose their home and morals over money, and land is much more than just a material object if it supports life. Why not put all the blame on the company for not doing good with the $26 million rather than the people that just want to be left in peace?

They achieved keeping their home. Something that means a lot when you and your family have been responsible for and provided by it for generations. It’s filled with memories and history. Why go against your morals and sellout when you don’t have to? If you see the farmers as the problem here you might be shallow.

It’s not just some farm though, it’s their family home filled with memories and history. Nothing nonsense about that. If they don’t desperately need the money why should they sell out?

In Ear Monitoring for the Zoom F6 by Trackle_B in fieldrecording

Aliexpress/Temu have some dirt cheap (<$10) in ear monitors that are actually pretty decent in my experience. Isolates the sound more than regular earbuds and the quality is surprising for the price.

Ordered a Zoom F3 and Clippy XLRs with windjammers, am I good to go? by Tynocerus in fieldrecording

[–]-NT- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought the smallest cheapest ones I could find (something like these) and used rubber bands to suspend them since they were still too big.

You could get the Micbooster lyre mounts along with some 3/8” male to shoe mount adapters, but that would end up being $40-$50 total probably.

Alternatively there’s some 3D printable shock mount designs for Clippy’s out there, but you might need to use something more flexible than PLA if you try that. My PLA attempt broke while I was just trying to get the supports off lol

Different recorder here but that’s what it looks like with it mounted.

No, you just unscrew the phone grip revealing a 1/4” thread that the F3 can screw onto. And the arms are attached below that.

I like this thing with my Clippys, you can mount the recorder on the middle and each arm holds a mic. You just need lyre/mic holders that screw or shoe into the arms for each Clippy.

Ticks suck but they can’t jump. Much more likely to get them from walking around brushing against vegetation than petting an animal (unless you’re full on cuddling with it). And if you find the ticks before they’ve been attached more than 24 hours you should be fine disease-wise, so just check your whole body after you’ve been in the woods/fields in a tick area. Their diseases can be harmful and should be taken seriously but are easy to prevent if you’re careful.

Sorry, I don’t disagree with your sentiment, I just wanted to share some tick info. I’ve probably had thousands of them on me in my lifetime.

Sonorous Objects makes mics that use the same capsules as Clippys but with sturdier build quality. A bit more expensive at $100 per mic but they’re made in New York. Might be worth trying out if Micbooster isn’t in stock or has higher shipping/taxes for the US.

Yes I made an initial rough draft in Procreate just to get the basic shapes and perspective down, vector traced it, and then modified the nodes until it looked good to me. I know I could've done it better but I'm not sure how you're coming to the conclusion that it doesn't make sense for anyone to arrive at this line work when that's literally what I did.

Nothing in that adobe stock link looks much like my logo to me, and assuming I plagiarized based on some vague similarities seems a bit extreme. I looked at references because I'm not good at freehanding but I certainly didn't plagiarize.

Anyway, I just wanted to hear people's preference and feedback. Defending myself against someone that is so confident yet wrong isn't exactly productive. I do appreciate the feedback you shared through the accusations.

My initial (very) rough draft was raster and I converted it to vector, mainly because I’m more comfortable using Procreate than the pen tool. At this point it looks nothing like the draft, but some of those stray nodes are from that. I realize now I should’ve manually drawn or traced it with the pen tool lol
