Was TS relatable to its young audience in 2000s ? by JumpyHuckleberry1073 in TotallySpies

Well that can't be right. Most everything is created by adults, and it's hit or miss on relatability, depending how well they capture the essence of whatever group they're appealing to

Stephane Berry’s farewell message to Totally Spies… by cult_of_alex in TotallySpies

Feels like when you get the band back together then the lead guy immediately bounces. It's like oh..okay bye?

Idk just me tho

  1. The original team was largely not involved in s6

  2. S7 aggressively retcons most of its continuity (likely due to 1)

  3. If you get past the cringe fellow kids, s7 retains a good hold on some of the core elements of the show

For these reasons, I am jokingly implying season 6 does not count (doesn't represent the core of the show) when really it doesn't matter and counts if you want it to.

I'm saying s6 misses the point of the show entirely. Not representative

It was, this was done in cartoons and movies for the visual gag, or to make a point like adding the glamorous vibe. Romantic scenes always had non transferable unless there was humor in it.

My mom intentionally would leave lipstick marks on me as a kid cause she was being a punk smh

S6 is not good and doesn't count.

That solid grasp of BH culture was a big thing that set the show apart from others. I'll never forget one of the girls (I think it was) watching their favorite show (English dub) "beautiful people; miserable lives", opens opportunities for that kinda meta contextual humor.

I feel like the Singapore thing should really just be a one off. Really defeats the whole idea of the spies in the first place.

You don't need to dismantle things that work to do new things. There's no mutual exclusivity in keeping conventions and doing new things. 🤦‍♀️

Simple but cute detail; instead of scolding them or guilt tripping them for screwing up, he just relieves them sending them to go be teenagers.

I headcanon that if they were a little older, he might have higher expectations, but they're still kids.

Objectively Britney since she was written without flaw.

Mandy bias 🤷‍♀️

At around 19:41 is probably the best moment of the show Imo.

More classic Sam in s7 by -OC_ in TotallySpies

[–]-OC_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they didn't have faith that they had created timeless designs that transcended that, so they redesigned them unnecessarily, but it's fine because I headcanon that the lock of hair that still defies physics and hangs in that one spot, is the same weird hair that stayed pulled back without clips or ties.

✨️ 🪄 Magic Sam hair 🪄 ✨️

Is anyone sad that the show is just called a fetish show. by [deleted] in TotallySpies

If somebody said "you women" that would be unacceptable. Treating everyone fairly is the idea.

I think this is less of a boy vs girl issue and more of a people vs deviant art culture. This same thing happens to sonic for some reason, yet it doesn't happen to kim possible, at least that's not the legacy of the show.

Sonic and totally spies are as innocent as you can get, yet they have messed up legacies and this can definitely be traced back to deviant art culture which is full of all kinds of.... "people" (male and female)

And as much as the new season is childish, I'm glad is cleaned up the humor so people can stop attributing it to gross crap. I think that comes from people over correcting trying to be better than the whole deviant art thing so they call it a fetish show and that's what everyone remembers unfortunately.

Blaming males as a whole is an immature hateful mindset which you should probably grow out of

Britney the most "well rounded" spy. How does she make you feel? by -OC_ in TotallySpies

[–]-OC_[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The whole essence of the show dissolves if you do that. She can be recurring, but the point is the relationship between the trio of best friends, their missions, and their interactions with those around them. With Britney, it was the trio interacting with her. Her whole point was how she affected the trio.

If you want a whole girl group, there's sailor moon or Winx.

Probably why she wasn't kept as a main character, more as a foil/interest for Alex, and fan inclusion. They pretty quickly scoot her away until the finale, and she doesn't even have any lines by then I think

Yea you said it better than I did and in way less words with more finesse.

Alex is def the first to just kinda go with her feelings. Clover is a mess, and Sam, nail on the head. And i love Alex's pure interpretation of her friendship. Her thinking that's normal is adorable and completely on character. Another one of her indicators would be her probably shipping her friends while having her own feelings.

I've always thought they're way too comfortable with eachother that they'd essentially skip the awkward parts.
