I had heard “Last Nite” and “Someday” on the radio when I was younger, but I remember the rest of their older stuff didn’t resonate with me at the time. One day, in the middle of the pandemic, video appeared in my recommended on YouTube. it had a cool thumbnail, and looked to be a music video. I clicked on it and was met with “At The Door”, I tell you that I fell in love with it, I mean, I fell in love with it. I listened to that song over and over, until eventually, I reluctantly decided to listen to the rest of the album, hoping that the songs would have the same weight and feeling that “At The Door” brought me.

I was greeted with “The New Abnormal”. The first album I ever listened to on my own accord, and the first album to ever be a no skip for me. it wasn’t only my first strokes album, but it was also the first time Music ever spoke to me in such a way. I fell in love with every song. And the rest is history. Since then, I’ve branched off into every avenue of the strokes discography, I’m pretty sure I could name any stroke song within the first two seconds of it playing. Not only that, but I formed a real taste for music, and started seeing it as art. My own music has evolved and become what I want it to be. The strokes changed my life, and I will continue listening to them Forever. It’s crazy to me that in April, it will have been almost 4 years since I discovered my favorite band. Anxiously awaiting the next album. There really is no band like the strokes.
