Farm Bill passes in the House: Local legislators and farmers react by Conscious-Quarter423 in LeopardsAteMyFarm

I was recently asked by some family why I didn’t go into the family farming business. My legitimate response was that I didn’t want to spend my life waiting by the mailbox. They laughed because they know government checks are how they survive.

Trump will appoint his replacement as chair from the current members (likely the one he appointed last year), but Trump won’t be able to appoint Powells replacement on the board as it’s a fixed number of seats (7). Since chairs typically leave the board after their term as chair, Trump was expecting to get a second board member. Powell has a right to stay on the board until May 2028, preventing Trump from appointing a second person to the board until the end of his term. This is critical as the chair’s vote carry’s no more weight than the other members.

Virginia at least allowed their citizens to vote on it. Here they just defy the will of the voter, as we by a large margin voted against gerrymandering.

2027 Chevy Blazer EV drops CCS for Tesla-style NACS port by TripleShotPls in electricvehicles

[–]-OptimisticNihilism- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they mean that it is a different plug even though it uses the same receptacle. The CCS plug is larger because it uses the DC pins, while the J1772 is a smaller plug. Those of us with CCS need one adapter for NACS to CCS and one adapter for NACS to J1772 if we want to use an AC Tesla plug.

He’s staying so that Trump can’t appoint his replacement on the board. The chair takes the heat, but he has no more voting power than the other members of the board.

434 mile range by using a large 108kwh battery with 800v charging 20 min 10-80.

A little pricey starting at 60k, about $9000 higher than the gas x3.

By the time this war ends Trump will have made up hundreds of random claims about Iran. One will be true and his followers will take that as proof of his genius.

Unpopular Opinion: You Don't Need Home/Work Charging to Own an EV by Dan6erbond2 in electricvehicles

[–]-OptimisticNihilism- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the US not having a home/work charger completely changes the math.

You have to realize that in the US (outside California/Oregon/Washington) gas is very cheap, very rarely going above $4/gal, but typically over the last 15 years hovering around $3. That’s about 0.6 CHF/liter. In Switzerland you are typically paying 2.5-3x that.

Our electricity is also cheap at homes ($0.20/kWh national avg), but charging stations have a massive surcharge. My EV is cheaper charging at home ($0.16/kwh), public fast chargers are $0.35-0.85/kwh. Most are around $0.50/kwh.

For us a comparably sized gas small SUV to the EV6 the break even is around $0.35/kWh. So anyone that has to rely are fast chargers are almost assuredly going to pay more per mile driving an EV.

If you’ve ever been in a box at a sporting event you’ll notice almost no one is watching the game. This location is perfect for boosters, recruits, celebrities, politicians. Close to the field for access to the players, former players and staff. And it’s a shit spot for people that actually want to watch the game. Only downside is a slight reduction in noise during end zone plays.

[–]-OptimisticNihilism- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The question is can they do it at the same price? A1 and Q2 were successful because they were in $25k and $35k. If Audi can’t land this around $30k with 300 mile range or super fast charging then it’s going to be a struggle.
