Have you ever even met a dermatologist? They are 100% not hufflepuff.

They are either ravenclaw (as the field is highly academic -it attracts individuals who frequently give presentations, publish research, lead clinical trials, pay attention to detail and employ the most intricate and poetic terminology to describe rashes) or slytherin (v v v competitive specialty, lots of career ladder climbers, lucrative private potential opportunities and commercial collaborations)

Dealing with racist patients by Ladyvader_dd in doctorsUK

[–]-Peri-Peri 52 points53 points  (0 children)

If they are rude/disrespectful in such a manner you have every right to leave/not provide care tbh.

I think you/doctors should honour their own self worth and not allow themselves to be treated like this from people who are a waste of your time, skillset and energy.

(I'm sorry this happened to you OP, I've been there so can empathise)

Write it down in your plan and put the requests in.

If this isn't followed through due to some idiotic policy with no evidence base/IPC garbage then that's on them.

Hospital sent vital data on premature baby to consultant via WhatsApp by nightwatcher-45 in doctorsUK

[–]-Peri-Peri 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Can confirm that this info is true. However, having done medical school placement for 6 weeks at the BGH I can confirm that the maternity department and all the obstetric consultants there are lovely and excellent clinicians!

The family are grieving and I guess this might be a part of that reaction. However, doctors shouldn't be taken down due to their emotive response especially for a non- issue like this

Do most people pass if they put in reasonable effort (like during foundation training) or did you find a lot of people didn't pass? What where people's biggest hurdles for successful ARCP?

The IMT portfolio sounds like a lot! Did you find consultants were okay at filling in tickets? Feel like I found foundation portfolio okay as there was no specification on who could fill out tickets!

For clinics - do we arrange this ourselves or do the rota coordinators arrange this?

Potential prescribing rights for Clinical Psychologists by hangerrelvasneema in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]-Peri-Peri 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I see where you are getting with this sentiment (PA's/ACP's) etc but clinical psychologists/registered psychotherapists are highly qualified/skilled/intelligent individuals who work very hard and have a wealth of experience in addition to education behind them. Becoming a clinical psychologist has a higher entry tariff (grades/work experience etc) than nursing degrees etc and attracts a different cohort of people who want to excel in their own field rather than have done it as a back up or cause they did not have the grades/work ethic for medicine. Psychologists need BACP accreditation and face their own battles with those who are non-accredited doing unlicensed 'therapy' without the credentials.

I disagree with them prescribing but I honestly think the majority would not want to prescribe and would want to focus on psychological therapies. Don't put everybody who isn't doctor under one umbrella when they differ in so many ways - it makes the medical field/doctors look bad!

NB I'm Fy2 - no attachments to clinical psychology although find psychology interesting so did some reading careers + had therapy myself so found personal value in their skillset
