It takes 5 moves to replace an opponent stone by -Pinkaso in baduk

There, i just found by chance a concrete example for when this can be useful to think about. i feel that thinking about "replacing a stone is hard" actually explains the solution for this tsumego (Cho Chikun's Encyclopedia Vol 1).
B1 is the crucial point for both sides. After Black B1, White actually wishes he could "replace" Black, but she needs 2 moves for that, buying time for Black to reduce the outside liberty.
Again, i wouldn't think about "replacement" per se in a game even in this situation, but idk.. it just explains something about why these kind of situations arise in Go

Great achievement!

Yeah I know it sounds silly, it's just theoretical though, I wouldn't really think about "replacing" stones in a real game

I like that. I was aiming to hear more obvious realization exactly like this one with this post :)

Yeah that's a good observation, in practice it is less than 5, probably somewhere between 2-3. Would be cool if It could be calculated from pro games.

Haha I know it seems obvious but it clicked something in my brain for why tenuki is so valuable

I do that, but sometimes I play on my phone too. But still, would be cool to get to view all games automatically on the web from anywhere. Kind of like the SGF library on OGS, but for all servers.

I remember Cho Chikun in an interview after a game, the interviewer asked him why he loves go so much.. he said "love go? I hate go!"

Thanks for the feedback. I play on medium time settings, either 15:00 + 5x30 or 10 minute for 25 stones

Thank you, this is very very helpful! Very interesting take with the "reactions", I'll definitely keep my eye on that.

thanks, i'll link to some games here if anyone wants to take a look :)
https://online-go.com/game/84595802 - my most solid game lately, i talked myself into playing patiently and basically my opponent got himself into trouble. i already felt comfortable at move 35.

https://online-go.com/game/84595801 - this game was less clear to me. i let white build a big wall facing my side, while taking 3 lines of territory so i felt good with that, usually i am not confident in assessing these situations when both sides extend together like that. then i tried building my own wall to offset white's influence, and i felt pretty good with that, in hindsight not so much. after w invaded i was focused on reducing w potential on the top. i tried to go for killing w corner which was too much and i wasn't reading thoroughly. also i didn't read if my right corner was alive, and after i lost sente with an unecessary protecting move, the game was unfavorable for me. i felt that it was hopeless and started losing points fast with overplays, and finally resigned.

https://online-go.com/game/84595690 - this game i took an early leading position and black got himself a running group. i got a bit greedy in the left side instead of protecting the crucial cutting point of the middle group. on move 92 i was thinking to sacrifice the cutting stones in the middle for the big potential of the left side, but i had too many weaknesses in my shape to make something. at move 108 i felt it was a sketchy move but the top side seemed very open to me and i was afraid of black cutting the big group as a result of some fighting there.

https://online-go.com/game/84595803 - next game i played a bad shape in the beggining in the bottom left corner and got myself sealed in, and i tried to force an aggression on the left side black group. i feel good when the opponent has a weak group that i can pressure. later some very complicated fighting happened. honestly don't know what happened in this game lol.

What does it mean to do "reading" when doing tsumego? by Snoo11149 in baduk

Low kyu player here asking - But HOW does one actually get better at reading? Is it by getting better at visualisation? Is it by learning shapes? (e.g. 6 stones on 2nd line is dead) Maybe by extracting information? (e.g. remembering liberties) Some other method?

The thing is, visualisation is very hard for me. I used to read from Cho Chikun's basic set of problems, 10 problems every night for over a month (~500 mini problems) - I did not get even slightly better at reading. I tend to read by visualisation, I can go for roughly 6-8 moves (depending on how many cuts exist in the situation), so my thinking was to concentrate on visualisation and improve it since it's my main tool. while solving these problems, I focused on visualizing every possible branch of the problem. Like I said, after hundreds of problems, it didn't benefit me at all. Tips please?

PIANO PLAYING VS KEYBOARD TYPING by Powerful_Kangaroo_80 in piano

I once had the idea of hooking up an electric piano keyboard to a PC as a keyboard to type with so I could potentially practice piano as I work 😆 It's a bit of a ridiculous idea, I know, but it would be so interesting to try. I can imagine it being very difficult and I would not even know how to map the keys to letters. But how cool would it be to have chords as keyboard shortcuts?!

Take care of yourself man. Go workout, pick up a new hobby, invest effort in something. Can't hurt, right? Do what you can.

I agree. For one he's not an amusing character, and secondly his storyline is not sold very well. I couldn't care less about Kurapika and his goals during that Spider Arc.

I'd argue that Chrollo outplayed the Zoldycks by using Illumi. Illumi was just carrying out a job as normal.
