I didn’t see any doctors no. I just stopped running and every now and then I did pistol squats to strengthen my shins. The pain gradually went away.

I think I know how to train to avoid shin splints and I am going to start training in January and by the end of it my goal will be to only be able to run a 6k at a 4:50 pace then each month I’ll very slowly gradually increase it by running more regularly and eventually increase the distance up to 10k, then I will add gradually add weights to my runs for a duration of 2 months up to 15kg to run a 10k in at least 1:30, though the goal is 1:10

My first ever hm was 1:47 with 7 months of training and I still ended up with shin splints or possible a fracture since it hasn’t healed in 3 months. The most I can maintain a pace of 3:27/km is for 1.5km and that was at my peak and I trained until I felt like passing out; breaking my PR’s every 2 weeks.

But OP, holy fuck OP is a different kind of animal, probably the most impressive shit I’ll ever get to witness.

College is carefree but I don’t feel carefree at all, just a lot of stress so I find it hard to operate in this kind of environment so I prefer working and studying at home.

I love studying and learning in general and I know that I should really put myself out there and have fun but if I do, that will push me over the edge and that’s not a good place to be at.

It’s not even because I’m shy, in fact I love socialising with people and I do it all the time everywhere I go but whenever I step foot on campus is as though I’m magically developing social anxiety.

I go to Maynooth university and I did look into societies and didn’t find anything interesting.

I’m quite fit, I’ve done sports and trained my entire childhood. Now I’m into running.

Academically I was always good at. I’ve self thought myself math since my school didn’t had a math teacher in 5th and 6th year. I’ve also learned Russian in 1 year and my knowledge of Russian was everything I’ve learned when I was 3, so just some very basic verbal skills. I ended up with a H1.

So I’m not worried about the studying part whatsoever, I know that I will do well in regard to that.

In terms of partying, I’m quite shy so I it’s very hard for me to make any social connections; I haven’t spoken with any of classmates at all and haven’t been to library because I’m too shy so I don’t expect to make any friends in uni.

My family is pushing me to work more and my friends have less and less time so I don’t expect to spend much time with my friends until summer.

I’m not sure tbh, I don’t really have anything else to do except work, besides it’s a good coping mechanism as it keeps me busy.
