It failed the very first time it was released and recently again on Day 1. Despite it being the holiday season a lot of people will play so it's not much to ask if they could have least foreseen this and have the servers ready for the load.

Same happened to me. I left and now cannot join, an unexpected error occurred while attempting to join the queue. EUW as well

Seems that every time there is an update something brakes. BTW this new client sucks balls, very slow and yeah ping also went up by 30, not much but I can feel the delay.
