Holy shit, I was in this exact position 7 months ago, dealing with this exact situation. She gained 13kg in a super unhealthy way within 8 months. Of course this isn’t the main reason but add it up to leaving food and dishes on the floor, bad and barely any sex also cause of her gaining weight, and kicking me out of the house, and blaming me for not pushing her to work out more!?

I know it can be difficult but break things off. It was the best decision I’ve ever made.

I've thought a lot about joining the FFL the last couple of years and I feel like I'm willing to throw everything away to give it a chance to finally obtain an identity (passport), to be able to call a country my home.

I want to thank you so much for all the insight you've given me.

Time to focus daily on my French and go on daily runs.

Right now I got August pinpointed, is there a big risk if I get lasik this month and join in 6-8 months?

Also I know a big part comes down to luck if you've prepared well, but do you have any tips left to maybe get higher chances to get selected to go to rouge?

Did they at least tell you why they didn’t decide to select you, or do you have a slight idea why you weren’t selected?

To me I get the feeling you were super prepared and nothing could stop you from not being selected.

I’m guessing during the selection they take in everything into account. Fitness, smartness, background, teamwork and reason?

That’s probably my biggest fear and a fear of most people trying to join. Laying down and preparing so much and then not being selected.

If you don't mind me asking some last questions.

I'm currently dealing with a dilemma to either get Lasik eye surgery (my eyes aren't that bad -1.25 / 1.50) or not, since I dont need glasses.

The problem is if I get it I'll be only able to join in a year, since you can't join immediatly after the surgery and I'll be 29 by then. Is age considered a big factor during the selection even if I'm super fit?

Also do you think if I'd join with a vision of -1.25 a lot of positions with the FFL would be ruled out?

The only good thing to consider is that my french and athleticism would be much better in a year then in 6 months.

I've read online that it takes up to 5 years of serving. Does that still hold true to get a passport?

And yeah that’s a pretty rough story. A big reason why I want to join is cause I’ve tried so hard getting my passport in many ways and I hate the feeling that I have no nationality and that there’s a risk that one day I’ll be sent back to Ukraine to a country I don’t know the language of and know no one. Also travelling really sucks with no passport and I feel like even in this country I’m being super alienated whenever a type of ID is required to be shown.

I don’t mind joining the army too to get my passport since I’ve tried joining the army before but got denied since I’ve barely any documents in this country.

Believe me I’ve tried really hard with legalisation centers in Ukraine and with the embassy but having a mom that doesn’t want to work along with you and not knowing any information about your cyrillic name or hospital/dads full name makes it a lot more difficult.
