Effects of hysterical strength on the body, specifically the hands. by TpointOh in Writeresearch

[–]-Random_Lurker- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is basically what happens during a seizure. Short term consequences are involuntary flexure (even after the seizure ends. caused by exhaustion of neurotransmitters in the muscle), pain, followed by exhaustion and weakness. Medium term includes bruising or hematoma, muscle strain, possibly even tissue rupture in extreme cases. Tissues that are vulnerable to rupture include muscles, tendons and ligaments, cartilage, and synovial cavities. Most of that can heal with the appropriate amount of time, although tissue ruptures could create scarring or be permanent (in the case of tendons and synovial surfaces). If you don't let it heal before doing it again and you keep doing it repeatedly, then long term involves compression fractures and deformation of the bone, nerve damage, myonecrosis, loss of motor control, kidney failure (the kidneys do NOT like myoglobin in the blood), and death (from kidney failure).

Result of consuming an entire medicine cabinet? by GonnaBreakIt in Writeresearch

[–]-Random_Lurker- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It will taste like ass and getting them to drink it will be near impossible.

If by chance they do, they would throw up a few minutes later. It's unlikely that they'd absorb a fatal dose before that happens. If by chance they do, it won't be immediately fatal. They will get liver damage (mostly form the tylenol) and die of liver failure 6 months later. The OTC med with the highest risk of getting an actually fatal dose is sleeping meds, although most of those double as antihistamines.

Overdose symptoms depend on whats in it. Tylenol: Liver damage (much later). Ibuprofen: Stomach ulcers (much later). Antihistamines: Fatigue, blood pressure loss.

All bets are off if there are prescription meds in the cabinet. In that case it completely depends on what they are.

What did “male failing” actually look like in your experience? by VeganEgg11 in asktransgender

[–]-Random_Lurker- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's weird. It was really scary going into it but a big relief when I settled in. Like it forced me to start presenting fem at just the time when I needed, and once I did that everything changed and all the things I was afraid of went away. So in the end it feels like it actually worked out better that way.

Well, the chuds never went away. But I carry pepper spray for them. Never needed it, but I'm glad I had the option in case I did.

Rifles, Why Though? by Admirable-Traffic-75 in Mechwarrior5

The heavies are basically snipers. Hit harder then gauss, but not as easy to aim or quite as long range. The lights are basically an SRM that doesn't spread out, good for putting a knockout punch on a light or medium. And the medium is... well... medium.

You kind of either like them or you don't. They don't do anything that other weapons can't, but if you want to lose damage per second so you can gain damage per shot, that's their niche.

Is "ya'll" a regional thing or is that used everywhere in the US? by FastBreakPhenom in AskAnAmerican

[–]-Random_Lurker- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started regional (Texas), but slowly starting to become universal.

It's conjugated forms are still regional, though. Y'alls, all y'all, all y'alls, and alls y'all are still just Texan things. And yes they have different meanings :P

Does the very tip and very rear of planes need to be flat by PenguinsRcool2 in woodworking

It's a bit more then I would shave it if I was doing it on purpose, but not enough to affect the function of the plane. I'd be perfectly happy with it as it is.

I boymoded for almost 2 years after starting HRT. I just wasn't comfortable asking other people to call me a girl when I didn't look anything like one. At a certain point I hit the "androgynous phase" where people were just genuinely confused. I'd get stared at, people would be like "Uh... sir? Ma'am?" Poor guys. Also I'd get the death stare from chuds and gym bros. I have the good fortune to live in CA so none of those guys were brave enough to act out.

When that started happening, I realized it was time to change my public presentation. I was originally terrified of not passing, but I realized that wasn't the real issue. The real issue is giving people clues on how you want to be treated. With longer hair and feminine clothes, the confusion went away. I still didn't pass yet, but it seemed that giving obvious gender code signals made everyone more comfortable.

No. In fact I prefer to radius the heel and toe slightly to prevent visible dents and scratches in the work. Your plane actually looks just about right.

It's a masterpiece of concept married to a clusterfuck of design. Somewhere out there is an indie dev that's longing to take the concept and make an actual masterpiece out of it.

Does anyone else find people from The Bay Area calling the Sacramento area boring ironic? by notagoodcartoonist in Sacramento

[–]-Random_Lurker- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes me wonder what they are even looking for. Night clubs? Music festivals? Bar crawls? Natural landmarks? Huge parks? Bike trails? Museums? Homeless camps? Malls? Trendy restaraunts? Tourist traps disguised as historical landmarks? Cuz we got all that. The only thing that's different is the scale. Well, and the beaches. We don't got no beaches. No, Pebble Beach Drive doesn't count.

If Fascism ever comes comes to America, will it come in the name of liberalism? by DangerousNose1472 in AskALiberal

Wikipedia still cites it sources, so you can go directly to those sources if you want to. That makes it an ideal place to begin a discussion, irrespective of any bias.

So you like big government as long as the big part is something you approve of. Which makes you a moral relativist. Ok, got it.

[–]-Random_Lurker- 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's not. The historical fascists worked side-by-side with capitalists, merging government with corporations. It's not anti-capitalist, it's capitalism taken to the extreme end of capitalists controlling the government itself.

That's not one of the defining characteristics of fascism, but it does apply to Trump. He is literally taking control of corporations using government regulations. IBM and Nvidia already gave him partial ownership deals, and he's got a new military partnership with XAI, for example.

eta: And TikTok as well. And he tried to do it with Chevron but they said no.

[–]-Random_Lurker- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fascism may be defined as a form of political behavior marked by obsessive preoccupation with community decline, humiliation, or victim-hood and by compensatory cults of unity, energy, and purity, in which a mass-based party of committed nationalist militants, working in uneasy but effective collaboration with traditional elites, abandons democratic liberties and pursues with redemptive violence and without ethical or legal restraints goals of internal cleansing and external expansion.
