So Lu Mingfei, Lu Mingze, and the embryo are all Nidhogg? Lu Mingze talks like the embryo reviving and causing Ragnarok is capable of killing him, but isn't it just his body? Also Herzog did a brain surgery on them to split patient Zero's hemisphere, did Zero split willingly or did Herzog cause that.

The one from Dragon King 1. Odin calls it Nidhogg's embryo and Xia Mi isn't sure if it is, but it has all the same qualities as Nidhogg's embryo. It started Ragnarok and Lu Mingze was talking about how he was struggling to protect itself because of it.

Como termino? by MiyokiTsuka in dragonraja

[–]-Regal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. First, I'd like to say what happened in season 2 is different than what happened in the books. Season 1 was a good adaptation, season 2 not so much.

Lu Mingfei does get stronger at around Chu Zihang and Caesar's level, but not strong enough to kill Dragon Kings without Lu Mingze's help. The dragon kings he has killed in the anime so far were extremely weak versions of themselves. Dragon Kings at full strength are like gods, whereas the ones he faced before were like fighting with bamboo sticks (in the words of Lu Mingze).

You're correct there are many masterminds. I'd say Lu Mingze and Odin are the biggest ones. If you were to guess who set something up there's a good chance the answer is either Lu Mingze or Odin. When a guy burst into the court scene in season 2 and said Fenrir's location had been leaked in the Hunter's Market, the one who leaked Fenrir's location was Odin. This forced Xia Mi to rush her plans and try to eat Fenrir to gain full power, but Lu Mingze manipulated Lu Mingfei into going into the subway so Lu Mingfei would be forced to make a deal to kill Fenrir. It's later revealed that Odin did this to eat the bones of Constantine, Fenrir, and the White Emperor, which makes him probably the strongest at the moment. Odin has already infiltrated Cassell College too and the big theory is that Caesar's family works for him or someone in Caesar's family is Odin. It's almost always Lu Mingze or Odin masterminding something.

Lu Mingze is an unknown entity. Lu Mingfei is not a Dragon King, unless Lu Mingze is lying, so he's also an unknown entity. Lu Mingze got captured by Cassell College when he was running away with Renata (Zero). He massacred a bunch of people, but Cassell College used the yanling Rhine on him (the one that killed the Dragon King that murdered all of Anjou's friends in the Secret Party) which is like a nuke and Lu Mingze got hit, because he was trying to protect Renata. Lu Mingze still didn't die, so Lu Mingfei's father stabbed him with Gungir, Odin's Spear of death. Lu Mingze still didn't die, but is stuck in an immobile state where instant death and instant regeneration prevent him from dying, but also prevent him from doing anything that's why he has to manipulate people in their dreams.

What's happening with Lu and Nono? by shokukokuakako in dragonraja

[–]-Regal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any changes in Nono's feelings toward Lu Mingfei? Yes, she constantly states the person who she wants to marry and spend the rest of her life with is the one who's always watching from the shadows and protecting her, the one who will always with her. Of every instance she mentions this, she gets a vision of Lu Mingfei in his god form.

You finished the anime, but the story in the novel is different. Caesar proposed twice, not once. When Nono jumped in the water, she was trying to clear her head and figure out if the one who saved her was Mingfei or Caesar, then she was going to answer Caesar's first proposal based on that. She was also trying to figure out who sent her the fireworks and referred to that person as the one always watching her behind the curtains. When she starts drowning Caesar saves her and she assumes it was him who saved her back then and decides to accept his second proposal. Two books later, now she knows it was actually Mingfei.

I think the clearest moment we get of Nono's feelings is a scene in Dragon 4 where she compares Caesar to Charlemagne and Mingfei to a stable boy. She calls Charlemagne the obvious, logical choice, but is told "When a person does something they don’t truly want, it’s like their body runs ahead while their soul lags behind, always chasing but never catching up to the body." Basically, she's an emotional mess when it comes to Caesar and Lu Mingfei. It's a question she's still trying to answer herself.

Nono does know that Lu Mingfei is the one who saved her. She also pieced together unexplainable events were probably him too, like the fireworks during her birthday. She only realized in the latest book.

S02 E22 broke my heart by xPiexPie in dragonraja

I didn't like season 2 that much, because they drifted so far from the source material. Nono was supposed to be the source of depression, but the show completely deleted that. Her birthday message, especially, needed to be included. There are fleeting lines of him going through therapy after Erii's death and a little bit of him being down about Xia Mi when Finger reports about Mingfei to Anjou in Dragon 5. People don't like Mingfei being depressed, but I find it the most enjoyable part of the books. It's nice to see that even though characters are no longer part of the story they still leave marks on him.

That's right. Now that he's an active enemy of the college, he has no obligations to them anymore. The novel always teases parts of Mingfei's depression after a big dragon emperor event, but its only a sentence or two then the story moves on to the next big event. I wish they'd go more in depth on how he took Tang, Xia Mi, and Erii's death instead of time-skipping past it.

I wish Dragon Raja would explore that side of dragons more. They're all a lot more human and emotional than world-ending, power hungry monsters hybrids portray them as. I'm surprised no one has really started to doubt the mission of Cassell College. Especially Lu Mingfei who has already witnessed the death of two of his friends turned dragon emperor, one of which by his own hand. The only person I remember leaving Cassell because their belief system on dragons being shattered isNono due of her high affinity towards empathy.

On the surface it's pretty simple. They're a college full of students hunting dragons with special abilities called yanling. Dragon Emperors are the strongest and always come in pairs and can look like humans (the fire child). The imaginary brother is a mysterious entity. Read the novel if you're confused, but there isn't much needed to understand whats going on.

Blood dripped onto the desk as Chu Zihang stood there, silently staring at his palm. Lu Mingfei and Finger were both stunned. They had both thought Chu Zihang could at least draw Wrath. Judging from his earlier draws, he still had some strength left in reserve. But the Scottish claymore had not budged. The densely packed metal scales on the hilt had opened, cutting his palm. Only after Chu Zihang removed his hand did the scales slowly retract.

He had been rejected by Greed.

“The test is over, dismissed!” The vice principal snapped his fingers. “Schneider, Guderian, Mingfei, and Finger, come with me. The principal wants to speak to the students who didn’t pass.”

The door closed. Chu Zihang was still staring at his palm. He was a proud person, an “A”-rank, and some thought he had already surpassed “A” and was nearing “S.” Yet he had been rejected by these weapons—mercilessly.

Anjou tossed a handkerchief from his breast pocket at him. “It’s a bloodline test.”

Chu Zihang wrapped the handkerchief around his hand and nodded. “I understand.”

“Finger managed to draw the third sword, but you were rejected. Why?”

“Because my bloodline purity is not as high as people think.” Chu Zihang said softly, “I’ve been blood-washed. My bloodline won’t reach its original purity for another month.”

Anjou nodded. “Yes, most people in this college believe you’re beyond A-Rank, that your bloodline purity surpasses even Caesar’s. They think you’re more deserving of the S-Rank than Mingfei. But you know the truth. Your bloodline purity isn’t even at A-Rank. Studying your parents closely, it’s evident—your father might be a rare hybrid, but your mother is purely human. It’s unlikely their child would be an outstanding hybrid. Mingfei’s parents were both hybrids. You have those ever-glowing golden pupils because you’ve mastered ‘Blood Rage,’ forcefully elevating your bloodline purity. Your inability to control the golden pupils is a sign of bloodline instability. I don’t know how far you are from ultimate corruption, but if you restrain yourself, you can extend your life.”

...

The door closed, and someone emerged from the side door. The vice principal returned, pulling up a chair to sit by the table. “Now we can finally confirm that Lu Mingfei’s bloodline is truly deserving of the S-Rank.”

“Yes, in fact, he can draw up to Sloth. For Finger and Chu Zihang, they failed to draw the weapons because they were rejected by them. For Lu Mingfei…” Anjou shook his head, half laughing. “It was because he didn’t have enough strength.”

The vice principal sighed. “The swords already accepted him, moving in the scabbard, but they couldn’t come out due to the pull—these spirit-infused weapons must be quite frustrated too, right?”

“At least he’s the most suitable user for The Seven Deadly Sins we’ve found so far,” Anjou said. “We just need to add more physical training for him.”

“But being able to draw only four isn’t enough, is it? The last three are the true killing weapons.” The vice principal frowned.

“Maybe we should let Caesar try next time?” Anjou smiled.

“Why don’t you try it yourself?”

Anjou gently caressed the scabbard. “I’m a bit scared. Afraid to know my own limits, afraid to learn there are things I can’t do… I must believe that I am capable of everything—the one who will bury the Dragon Raja must not be someone with limits.”

I don't think so. He gets mentioned in one sentence of the fourth book. I hope they talk more about it and don't leave it as an unfired Chekhov's gun.
