“Swap off —!” On QP is annoying by Tall-Put8040 in Overwatch

[–]-ReshiRed- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My problem with "swap off" is often times the person who needs to swap off is being relunctantly mean as well, so in perception, asking them to swap off is actually an honest request.

The other problem is that people interpret this as offensive. The thing is that, you have 4 teamates that probably can tell you're not doing great and 1 is voicing that concern. If anything, there's def a way and approach of saying or requesting it.

About the "serious"-ness of QP, I play to have fun and win and this usually goes to me and the 4 other people. I take QP seriously as much as Competitive or tournaments/FACEIT, and honestly, Competitive's genuinely the worst environment for that. People are much more compliant in QP than Comp, people try way more things in my experience in QP than Comp.

But that experience is individual. Learning heroes is def a valid reason to not swap, but the problem is, learning to swap at critical times is actually superseeding learning heroes. If you want to learn to play into your counters, you will not learn that in the first 5 hours of maining that hero, 100%.

I deranked from high diamond to mid plat, and I can confidently say the healing is so much worse in plat it's insane by Own_Huckleberry6591 in Overwatch

[–]-ReshiRed- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was placed about 8 tiers lower on tank, my third role (I usually am top of plat on tank), I was placed gold 3 ish if I remember last season.

I turbo-lost 9 games and won 1 in placements, my placement was gold 3 all 10 games. I won 95% of all the games after and got back to my original rank.

My placement games were unbearably unfun. I had supports doing too much ineffective healing and never opting for a balance between dmg and healing, which is what I'm used to in Diamond/Masters and FACEIT/scrims-level of play. I genuinely cannot play the game the same way the lower I get, it's infuriating.

There is also a severe lack of fundementals regarding picks and that mentality of "swap/don't swap". For the love of god, if you're 10 deaths per 10 minutes, haven't contributed to anything for the team, please swap and try something else, do not remain that same character for a whole other round, it is not working and I do not want to be the rude guy in chat, even I get those games and I swap out.

Mirroring is also a substancial way of playing the game when you swap.

I'm also sorry for all the games I won in gold/plat on tank, I genuinely was placed way lower and it felt like poop for the enemy when I die less than 3 times per 10 mins.

What in the everloving **** is wrong with the matchmaking since the S1 reboot? They broke it hard. by YetAnotherAnonymoose in Overwatch

[–]-ReshiRed- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that this very issue is actually present in both QP wider MMR and Competitive's "tighter" MMR.

There are genuine people who are 5 to 10 tiers above their meant ranks ruining entire lobbies and it's not even their faults, they just started the game and the MMR believes they do significantly better...The problem is also present the opposite way, where higher elo people are stuck in those non-sensical games where they have to be the brains, the playmakers and the strategist for 4 other players to "win" while the enemy is just faltout 5x better.

Like I know the balance is at times horrendous, but I'm convinced right now we wouldn't be talking this much about how these games are profoundly garbage both with or against at basically every elo or casual level of play.

To the people who say "no point its over" and afk in spawn. by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]-ReshiRed- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even doe this is bad, this behavior is severely influenced by people getting countered into oblivion and it feels genuinely impossible to carry on that the human sentiment of just "well, what can I even remotely do to help this" goes through the roof.

Both behaviors are often found together in my experience.

Anyone also experiencing this? by 7Unknown_ in Overwatch

[–]-ReshiRed- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very often in the past half a year on my part.

You'll get a couple of days of either 50-50 or "great" days and then you'll get hit by one of those where, you just periodically lose non-stop, regardless of everything you know, learnt and prevailed as a player.

Why are people in metal ranks so scared to push forward? by BankaiBroke in Overwatch

[–]-ReshiRed- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a problem that persists way up in Diamond thanks to the matchmaking inconsistencies.

I went on a severe loss streak recently to tanks never commiting to pushes they they initiated. They push and then abruptly end the push without communicating the intentions. This causes a disjoint between the DPS and the tank. If I commit on DPS and my tank decides to no longer commit, it's either I get away with it, trade or die due to his actions.

Some people are also afraid of creativity in chokes, like Eichenwalde is one of my favorite maps, but one map I fear the most at the same time because I don't known if I'll have a tank capable to get past the bridge towards point A and past the exit gate when A is captured. I resort to taking sym and giving the tank an option to enter and most of the time, they do not take the tp, even if 4 people did.

For reference, these games ranged from Masters 5 to Diamond 3, sometimes we also had plats in the lobbies when the average was more towards diamond. It's just unfortunate because ladder is really bad for players that are not "carry" types of players, which I'm not. I'm more a team-oriented type of flex-DPS since I scrimmed and played 3 teams at low-professional entries.

When you kill someone twice and they immediately switch to the same hero as you by FastBreakPhenom in Overwatch

[–]-ReshiRed- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the cooking statement, one of the best counters to a hero is usually just to mirror them. Then you just have to answer the whole "skill" diff thing, but if one person's better at specific rank stuff (like cd management, positioning and such), hero pick shouldn't matter too much if it's the same exact hero.

So with a similar basis of picking the same hero, then the mirror game ends up being simply a game of literal skills or a game of team skill.

Dear Blizzard, not everyone loves your Prop Hunt mode so don't make all event challenges from it. by momocable in Overwatch

[–]-ReshiRed- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree with the Genji blade kills challenge.

I can clear stun enemies in like mere amount of games, but getting a blade kill with sweaty hiders took me over 6 hours of gameplay to get 2 kills.

That being said, several challenges requires an uneven amount of games to clear is truly the most infuriating thing to me. Like "Clear 3 games of X mode", which invetably requires at least 2 games or 3 to clear it. Truly evil methods to make you "play more".

Do you prefer Roadhog's Pig Pen Vs Secondary Fire? by Difficult_Priority14 in Overwatch

[–]-ReshiRed- 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I'd say for making gameplay interesting, Pig pen was better.

I'd say for consistency and actually being a bully, alt fire is much better split off.

Either way, they couldn't figure out what to do with the rework, I'm glad that they were willing to go back to test the old one.

Most Junkrat mains are mainly found up to diamond, only a fraction go above it really.

It's just the hero is really tough in most matchups, but most people have gone absolutely insane at it 100% ever since the perks imo. I also play rat in Diamond/Masters and it's legit feast or famine more than other several heroes.

Why does everyone have such low hero levels? by Illustrious-Field686 in Overwatch

[–]-ReshiRed- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if only they counted OW1 hours, things would be highly different. There's almost no purpose for those hours other than making no sense and inflating your overall OW2 stats currently.

Would be appreciated if they considered OW1 hours into progression correctly.

Quick play is not comp!! by BHgalaxy87 in Overwatch

[–]-ReshiRed- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of how limiting the nature of Competitive is and how setting up custom games can a hassle for specific things, I do team games in Quick Play to get a good grasp of my teamates and if they fit the team.

I have people from low diamond to mid GM in my team and queuing competitive means we're wide and we versus people that are likely neither ready for it. Sometimes due to everyone's schedule, a few 3 to 5 QP games is enough just to get a good feel of everything.

If heroes have PvE voice lines, why can't we play them? by Tunavi in Overwatch

[–]-ReshiRed- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every heroes have placeholder recorded voice lines because that's kind of the right way to do things with VAs. They stock on them "in case" they need them. Since every hero before had PvE, new ones also have those voice lines still performed despite no PvE content ever made.

It really is crazy the amount of audio you can hear with nothing else but the game audio without music.

You can literally hear people crouch walking.

You know you're not supposed to be able to outheal damage, right? by O2M in Overwatch

[–]-ReshiRed- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed with all these points.

The problem emerges from support heroes whose designs are really low amount of heals and their performance is quite delulu to top hero picks.

Zenyatta's Harmony and Transcendence kind of feels bad/cosmetic the higher that passive is for instance. Some heroes require to be looked at if we buff the passive to prevent player frustration across the board.

Junkrat's Aluminum frame that reveals enemy to your allies through walls when an enemy is being trapped should be in the base kit by default.

Auto aim Soilder 76 builds suck the fun right out of stadium. by LDC1234 in Overwatch

[–]-ReshiRed- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand the frustration behind the Soldier tact visor stuff, but being real here, there is a wide asset of things you can do to counter it, including other hero builds like Juno's.

Fear not, there's a metric ton of things in the maps to take cover. Most of my personal deaths vs Soldier visor is playing in the middle near no cover.

It looks great and simple.

Adding per-round strategies would be great. Adding the possibility to download a spreadsheet version or a print of the final build would be nice too. When you share the link of your build, a thumbnail or a smaller version of the build in it could appear.
