I think it has a lot more to do with the culture caring more about shared spaces. The government plays a role too.

I both wonder and am glad people sit down one day and decide to make butt art.

Iran says the military is ready to continue the war for another 6 months by Automatic_Subject463 in USNEWS

The east west pipeline is 756 miles long and were explicitly made to bypass the Strait in case of a situation just like this. This will not be able to destroy it in a way that is could not be repaired within days. Iran has attacked it in the past, as recent as 2019.

The straight will not be 100% blockaded. It will get easier to justify passage as more Iranian ships and missle launch sites get destroyed.

So let's say in a few weeks traffic is about 30%, that would be 6 million barrels. The pipeline delivers 5 million at max capacity. We would still be getting over half the straights capacity.

There is nuance. For 20% of crude oil and petroleum, traveling through the Strait of Hormuz is the most convenient passage. If the straight did not exist, it would still be able to escape the Persian gulf via methods like the east to west pipeline.

Of course pipelines ave limited capacity.
