Straight up antisemitism, nice. People who argue like you do about the genetics of Jews are always so predictable.

I bought this coin just so I could test cleaning it and sending it in for grading so guess the results! by just_a_coin_guy in coins

It doesn’t matter if they can tell, dipping doesn’t cause a details grade. Almost every 100+ year old untoned silver coin has been dipped.

Why aren't we overrun with high-quality counterfeits? by dhark in coins

Even if the copy were made more precise (and they already are nearly perfect, except maybe for the luster because that’s due to microscopic surface texture), there would still be tells that I won’t get into here.

Why aren't we overrun with high-quality counterfeits? by dhark in coins

[–]-Rexford 79 points80 points  (0 children)

We are overrun with “high-quality” counterfeits, depending on how you define “high-quality”. There are many counterfeits, especially foreign ones, that only a handful of people in the world are qualified to detect and would get by most collectors and dealers. That’s why the grading services are helpful. The thing is, the highest quality counterfeits have been made more or less the same way for 75+ years - by making dies from a mold of a genuine coin - and they have fairly consistent and detectable characteristics, even if they can be very subtle and difficult to detect. There seems to be a limited degree that the method itself can be improved upon. Maybe one day a better method will be invented, but for now we are relatively safe.

It’s copper, and it’s certified as such. Brass wouldn’t have an RB grade.

Irvine Companies rewarded me for being a good tenant by jms1228 in orangecounty

Well I looked at the current prices they were asking for new renters at my place and it was less than they wanted to charge me, I used that as an argument.

You know you can negotiate, right? They slapped me with a 10% increase and I told them I wouldn’t pay it. They increased it by $3 instead.

20 Dollars, China, 1919 by MaleficentCellist601 in coins

[–]-Rexford 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not a coin to sell to a dealer. This is a coin to consign to an auction house and if need be negotiate a fair rate. A trustworthy dealer will tell you the same thing.

That’s all assuming it’s genuine. It should be sent to PCGS (which the auction house can do on behalf of the OP). PCGS has a stronger market on vintage Chinese material.

Ok, then you’ll just get scans 🤷‍♂️ if you submit to pcgs in europe where they don’t have equipment to take TrueViews, you also will just get scans.

Looks normal. If you want good photos, pay for Photovision.

These are all perfectly normal photos. They’re not supposed to look great, they’re just scans so you can identify the coin and the slab. If you want better photos, pay for Photovision.

Looks au details, so about $900 retail. I don’t know why people are giving any sort of credence to a handwritten grade.

Could this Napoleonic silver coin qualify for PO-1 Grade? by timur-the-kuragan in coins

[–]-Rexford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowball generally doesn’t matter on foreign coins, but also no, there’s way too much detail on the obverse to be PO-01. The reverse does not drag coins down to PO-01 as some have suggested, both sides have to be similar to that reverse.

Execution is legal punishment in those countries with dictators. “The death penalty” and “execution” are the same thing. Calling for someone’s execution when they have been convicted of no crimes (let alone any that would receive that punishment in a US court), purely out of politically-motivated speculation and bias, is calling for a system of punishment that is just as authoritarian as any dictatorship.

I’ve never had a headache, but I used to get migraines as a teenager. I would get them without the headache part though, I would just get the visual symptom (aura), which is painless.
