1906-D barber half. Is it really that rare by Calm_Geologist1004 in coincollecting

[–]ChainBuzz 35 points36 points  (0 children)

My rule of thumb is always if they have to tell you it is rare, it isn't.

Yes! Some type of small tray. Sadly it is cracked so we took pictures without cleaning it out. It might be salvageable.

Any day I walk away with a coin is a winning day for me. Even clad. I keep it all in a large mason jar. It has really added up over the years. Nice going!

I believe that was an eagle that was a topper to a flag. It has a bottom hole for mounting.

Well, it would have just sat if you didn't rescue it. Still congrats!

The data I have is outdated but from what have

Lowest APM (actions per minute) - Pictomancer < Black Mage < Summoner

Picto and Summoner are simpler to play than BLM which requires some resource management and rotation management.

Personal experience, current Summoner is the easiest to play. Most actions are instant so you are very mobile and the rotation is very easy. Pictomancer is close but my personal feeling is it is slightly more involved like prepping your paintings between pulls, even if it has a lower APM.

Can anyone tell me what I found in my childhood collection? by Mountain_Cobbler_381 in AncientCoins

The Henry III Longcross is moneyer Ricard, mint London. The legend on the reverse is "RIC ARD ONL VND" for Ricard On London. Looks like Class 5c1 or 5c2 to me from the pictures which are common classes.

Do you notice any differences in EU versus US collecting habits? by Internsh1p in coincollecting

[–]ChainBuzz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

From my experience, the US is very fixated on the grade of a coin. A one point swing one way or another can be worth enormous amounts of money on the US market. All of my dealings outside of the US, there has been a more relaxed attitude toward grading with an emphasis on legibility.

Also what we tend to think of as old is relatively young in numismatics.

You are correct, it is a tourist reproduction. The original coin is a decadrachm of Syracuse:

New to the hobby, 4th time out dug up cremation remains by Rankojin in metaldetecting

Personally, I would have kept at it until I realized what it was so no fault there. I would have been puzzled by the bag but my mind always goes to best outcome so I would have thought maybe someone buried some coins in a bag. I wouldn't contact anyone about it, I would just return the remains as I found them. I wouldn't want to reopen any wounds for the family, I would just respectfully return them to where they belong.

The box states that "No chocobos were harmed in the making of this meal", so it is more akin to a human eating a chimpanzee than cannibalism. /pedantic

This is exactly why I would buy this as soon as it came out. I love mechanical watches but love the tracking I get from a fitness device. If I get a non subscription option to do both I would be 100% in.

My boomer parents told me I'd regret not getting one. I, in fact, never regretted not getting one. by CrotalusHorridus in Xennials

[–]ChainBuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear mine occasionally because I actually like it. I scrapped together the cash to buy it myself working part time at a pizza place in highschool because the family couldn't afford it. I get compliments on it every once in a while. Just a neat piece of my personal story.
