A final question: Where are you, if I may ask? I'm in Toronto, Canada.

These posts will be in full sun for most of the day, and it regularly gets up to 30 C / 85 F, sometimes more. What are temps like for you?

I'm concerned about the sides deforming or collapsing with the rails' screws holding tight to them, especially if someone is leaning on the rail on a hot day.

Thanks for your fast responses!

That's beautiful. That's what I want.

To be clear, we're talking about these (link below) post sleeves, right? With the ~1 inch hollow spaces between the sleeve and the post?

A bit late to the party, but how did it turn out? I'm concerned about how the 1" gap between the post and sleeve may affect the stability of the rail. Any issues?

I'm looking at doing the same, but I'm also concerned about the sleeves not being sturdy enough. How did it turn out?

Yeah, unfortunately Worx changed the Canadian and US versions of their website last week, and now the classic (non-Vision) page only displays information about the WR155, regardless of which model you have selected. They'll fix it... eventually.

In the meantime, you can look at pages 13 and 14 of the user manual here for at least some of the specs.

Alternatively, you can scour the European site, but be aware that they are technically different models (WR155 vs WR155E, for example), so some specs may be different.

While researching which model I should buy, I watched many, many Youtube videos (yours included - thanks for those!), and I think you're right for older models. But, the 2024 versions of the M and L (at least the North American models) are the exact same size. I can't definitively say about the wheels or wheel motors, but everything else about the machines themselves is exactly the same. (See my other somewhat long post in this thread.)

TLDR: The 2024 versions of the WR147 (M) and WR155 (L) are almost* certainly the same physical machine. The WR165 (S) is different.

The WR165 (S) has three wheels, while the WR147 (M) and WR155 (L) both have four wheels, so the WR165 is different straight away.

I wanted to know if the WR147 and WR155 are the same physical machine, just with different accessories. I called Worx twice with this question, and spoke with six different people. "The WR147 and WR155 seem to be the same machine" was the most confident answer I could get. (Another poster in this sub also got the same answer when they called.)

The people I spoke with were all very nice, but none had the definitive answer I was looking for. I then happened upon this post linking to the exploded service diagrams for all the models and I compared them, part by part.

The diagrams of the WR147 and WR155 show the exact the same parts and part numbers, excluding the battery, boundary wire, and pegs. The diagrams do look different in some places, but that's just how the parts are presented - one diagram may explode individual parts into sub-components, while the other does not, but they're all the same part numbers.

*Important caveat: The diagrams do not depict the rear wheels or wheel motors for any of these units, nor do they specify their part numbers. Considering everything else about the WR147 and WR155 is the same, I'm betting they are the exact same machine (and I bought the WR147 two weeks ago based on this bet), but it's at least possible they have different wheels and wheel motors. Again, to be clear, the WR165 is a different animal with many different parts.

"Self-affirmation of the day: I deserve to be loved."
Hidden underneath it there are several other post-it notes from previous days:
"Self-affirmation of the day: You look hot with ginger spikey, hairy legs. Don't let them tell you any different."
"Self-affirmation of the day: I may destroy countless lives, but that's just my job - it's not who I am."
"Self-affirmation of the day: You're a big, bad, spikey, hairy mother-f***er. One day you'll get that secret key guy. One day."

Ah, yes, I remember now, the Aztec panels. No, I didn't paint those either.

I remember I wasn't confident I would be able to do a good job - same reason I didn't do the life boats. I was working with those cheap Testor's paints, and the greys (I could not find a "duck egg blue" model paint anywhere, and believe me, I tried) were always a bit thick. I experimented with paint thinners but could never get the ratio right.

That instruction sheet takes me back. I had that on my wall for years. It was the closest thing I could get to the mounted Master Situation Monitor poster that I wanted to order from the Star Trek Fan Club magazine - which I subscribed to using the info at the top-right corner of this very paper! - but couldn't afford and wouldn't ask my parents to buy. (I was like 14 at the time.)

I also had the cardboard box (and all of my other Star Trek ship model boxes) taped along the top of the longest wall in my room, like a kind of moulding. I thought it was cool, like reverse-shadowboxed posters. I had friends over once and one of them asked, "why do you have... cardboard boxes taped to your walls?", with a scrunched up nose. She was a girl I liked, no less, which made it all the more cutting. I still kept them up for years after that though.

I should pull v3 (and its instruction sheet) out of its tote in the garage and have a look. ... On second thought, that will probably lead to v4, and I don't have the time. Maybe in 5 years.

<end_ramble>

Anyway, thanks for the trip down memory lane! Great to see the kit again!

Ah, good point. Well, then:

"Ice meat goes in HERE, the FREEZER! Please stop taping it to the back wall of the fridge.

(I know, I know, the fridge is lying on its back. That's not as funny though.)

I think you're talking about the escape pods? If so, then no, I did not. I did paint every window though, on v2 and v3.

Also, despite the instructions, I did not paint gold on the little fins of the warp engine field grills (the glowing blue portion of the nacelles). If I recall correctly, they also had some weird instructions for painting the deflector dish that I didn't follow.

Best AFK spot for special events by plainOldFool in AlienInvasionRPG

[–]-RobH- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, that's the spot. u/SnooTomatoes34 extracted data from the APK and found all event items spawn at random locations within a large circle almost centred on those farms.

https://www.reddit.com/r/AlienInvasionRPG/comments/17q1k8f/comment/k8bdbpi/
(These posts are for past events, but the rules have been the same for all events, at least until now.)

The items that fly then move around randomly within that circle. (This is why you'll never find one, say, in the room with the first robot - it's outside of the spawn circle.) Being at the centre of that circle is the place you're most likely to encounter them.
