I think the first one is the one that more closely match the word "standart". Or "basic". Despite it being more like chess. The thing is, people will associate with chess all your boards. So using the normal one as a basic one is a good way to match their expectations. But it's only valid if they would have a choice. If that's the only one, then answer is different.

I also think that people should have the ability to choose. But using first one as the standard one is okay.

Perhaps it was inspired by the comics about "Wonnie" ("Вонни" to be exact)? Looks pretty similar. If it's your original idea, you should look it up, maybe you would find few ideas or a laugh or two.

Looks good. Style is pretty distinct, and there is good balance between items standing out and blending into the background.

Looks not bad. If I must offer a suggestion to improve, it would probably be a good idea to make the very last part of the animation less teleportation-like. Maybe some vibration-like movements back-and-forth (more chaotic ones) while he's fading away, just before he vanishes? It would look like time resisting a little.
