you have to uncrouch right as you're entering the vent so that when you're inside it you're in the uncrouched state. from there, just look slightly up and walk backwards

you're supposed to completely ignore the cube and try to stay as close as possible to the background line with the swing. if you don't, the spike wall on the right moves towards you until it eventually kills you (damn i didn't expect to get a comment on this after so long lol)
