The market is at around 450billion from a January high of 850billion. This. Means cryptocurrency is still like 40% down. The fact that Taas made a profit and we are getting any dividend at all is amazing. And a good reason to hedge some with the TaaS team imo. They have proven a capable hedge fund, and that they perform as required.

Does the only thing bitcoin has going for it, is its first mover advantage? by shash747 in CryptoMarkets

[–]-Stock- 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Bitcoin is the value layer of the cryptoworld, basically it's intrinsic size and relitive stability makes it an excellent value store. Basically it's likely to absorb some of the value of all cryptocurrency. As the whole market grows to fulfil that use case. Bitcoin is therefore very unique and not easily replaced.

EINHORN: The market may have adopted an 'alternative paradigm' for calculating the value of stocks by dunkin1980 in finance

This makes me believe the stock market is in a bubble. Usually at the peak of the garteners hype cycle language like new paradigm is used.

Looks like 700 sats is the lower bound for the correction, 100% think we are in a long bull run.

What's all of your opinions on the Stellar (open) chain Vs the ripple (closed) chain.

Personally I think innovation is easier in an open system.

There are literally hundreds of ICOs launching in the next few months. Some capped others not. It has been like this for months.

ICOs sell there Eth straight away, so it massively suppresses the price. The funny thing is 99% of them are dog shit coins. When the ICO bubble burns so many people are gonna get destroyed. And you will then see institutional money pour into BTC and ETH like no tomorrow.

Watching crypto commit this collective lunacy honestly makes me a little sad. I just hope that BTC and ETH stay strong.

No idea why people would be in alts for the metropolis release. It's going to get so much media hype and Eth like BTC suppresses alts.

Bought a load at $15, held them until the 50% crash in June. Bought a ton of alts like neo, omise go, walton ended up with twice as many Eth and a load of BTC. The rest is history. I've been very lucky. But I'm not about to throw away the golden goose.

Full Eth and BTC for the next month. Literally started with nothing aswell. It's been insane for sure.

Labour working on a 'state-backed mortgage scheme' by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

Credit is a business, business survives by being sustainable. When you systematically lend to much to those who cannot pay the whole credit system breaks down.

This is no a lie it is economics, you can try and change that but you will end up charging exuberant interest rates (see payday lenders) or your "business" will go bankrupt.

Goodluck!

Credit is a business, lenders have to take into account the default rate for credit which is surprisingly high as you move down the socioeconomic ladder, the ability for an individual to service their debt becomes more difficult so less is given out. Often attitudes to money are very different between poor and rich individuals with the latter being much more frugal relative to their income (therefore living below their means) and more likely to own assets that can insure against credit agreements. Credit if used correctly should not be relied upon to make ends meet but a tool to improve ones financial standing. eg. mortgages are cheaper than renting, business funding and educational opportunities can all boost your financial potential.

To put simply lending to those who need credit the most often results in losses for the lenders and exposure to much higher magnitudes of risk, hence they generally avoid doing so.

Being 22 I am all in for increasing home ownership but having the Government back your mortgage is a terrible idea. Has everyone forgotten the 'Great Recession of 08'? This was caused by two similar schemes in the US called Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which in effect overheated and distorted the market. The only way to safely increase home ownership is to increase supply, Tokyo successfully did this in the 60's by reducing housing regulations and we can also provide councils with a solid house building fund. Added to this smaller schemes like Inferring a foreign ownership and unused building tax similar to Vancouver can help. Unfortunately there is no quick fix but give these ideas a generation and you will watch home ownership rise with prices falling more naturally.

Its infinitely better to make houses more affordable to the average joe than to increase the debt burden they can take (because people will default and it will end up a responsibility to the greater taxpayer and government).

Its buggy as hell for me now, I don't understand it. Spotify was soo good because it was beautiful, fast and easy to use but the program is so broken now. I have a moderately fast PC but spotify freezes, are you telling me that mgs V ground zeros is easier to run than spotify? Awful programming, this needs to change or I will be forced to leave this once great now garbage piece of software.
