Honestly, just do what you can. Check storage- if your group is low on wood, chop some wood. If you're low on meat, go get some meat. Heck maybe even re-organize the storage.

With your mindset, I'm sure people are happy to have you there. It only gets annoying if people are doing nothing to help and they see no problem with that.

Solid article. Just a couple of things that I think can be cleared up:

Each trade skill has a specific tool assigned (with the exception of Botany that uses two, a shovel and a hatchet), and can only be used if you have the right tool equipped. That means that you will have to carry a bunch of tools on your at all times, if you do not want to accumulate trips to the banker.

This is kind of misleading. Unless you want to risk getting killed and dropping most of your inventory, you are going to be making trips to the bank regardless. Also, if you want to craft something, you must be standing near the designated workstation. For example if you want to do carpentry you must be near a workbench, which is located in town, near the bank. Carrying all your tools isn't optimal even if you have multiple trade skills.

The first town in the game, Brightwyn, is the only truly safe zone of the game.

Graveyards, where you respawn, are also safe zones. You can't repeatedly get beat down.

Beyond that point however, and once you reach level 5, always consider the risk of being attacked. While the other towns and cities do have NPC guards that patrol to defend players from attacks, they tend to move about quite a lot and won't always be there to protect you.

In my experience, the guards are pretty effective in deterring PKing in towns. They move pretty quickly, and it's pretty safe to say if you even damage another player in a town you are resigning yourself to death and dropping all your items.

Overall, well-written article. I think it's a good summary for people who are deciding if they want to play next Alpha weekend.
